2004 NICKELBACK NEWS!

December 20th 2004 - Today is the first birthday of The Long Road Of Nickelback: Part 1 and to celebrate this, I have started The Long Road Of Nickelback: Part 3! This is to thank all those Nickelback fans that have ever visited The Long Road Of Nickelback: Parts 1 & 2 for supporting both sites so well! Thank you!

December 19th 2004 - VH1 gave Nickelback's Figured You Out from The Long Road, second place in their pole of "The Worst Songs Of 2004!" This is unbelievable, especially because it done well everywhere as a single other than England, where it was cancelled!

December 12th 2004 - On December 8th 2004, there was a tragic loss in the music world, as Dimebag Darrell was shot and killed by a mad man during a show with his new band Damage Plan in Columbus, Ohio. Dimebag Darrell was also a part of the band Pantera. For those of you like myself, who are not familiar with Dimebag Darrell's music, he collaborated with Nickelback last year on Nickelback's cover version of Elton John's Saturday Night's Alright For Fighting. Dimebag Darrell is credited on the inside sleeve of The Long Road: Limited Edition Version, as Dimebag Darrell's Guest Guitar Solo appeared on this version of the album, aswell as the Charlie's Angels 2: Full Throttle Soundtrack!
Also, tragically, 3 other lives were lost on December 8th! Jeffrey "Mayhem" Thompson was Damage Plan's Head Of Security; Erin Halk an employer of the club; and Nathan Bray an audience member. There were 2 people injured too! Chris Paluska a member of Damage Plan's management team who was serving as Tour Manager is in critical, but stable condition; and John "Kat" Brooks Damage Plan's drum tech was released from Hospital on December 10th! As a tribute to Dimebag Darrell, I have added the lyrics to the Pantera song Cowboys From Hell, which Nickelback covered earlier on in the year in a live show!

Dimebag Darrell -
August 20th 1966 to December 8th 2004.

December 9th 2004 - It has been confirmed that Chad Kroeger will marry his girlfriend Marianne this month! Congratulations to Chad and Marianne!

December 3rd 2004 - All of the footage for Chad Kroeger's MTV Cribs appearance has been shot in late October at Chad's home in Vancouver, Canada! Chad's appearance on MTV Cribs will not be aired until 2005! However, there is not too long to wait as it will be aired most likely in January 2005!

November 28th 2004 - Despite talk in the NBForum that Nickelback: The Videos (Re-Release) was released on November 23rd, it is actually released on November 30th in Canada! Go to my DVDs page to see all the tracklisting and where you can buy it!

November 26th 2004 - Nickelback released a new DVD on November 23rd! Although, if you haven't heard the details, then you'll be surprised to see it isn't a live DVD, but instead a Videos/Documentary DVD! The latest DVD is a re-release of Nickelback: The Videos, but this DVD now includes 2 music videos (Feelin' Way Too Damn Good & Figured You Out) that did not make the first release of this DVD, aswell as brand new documentaries! Including: The Making Of The Long Road and apparently this DVD chronicles the releases from The State, through Silver Side Up and The Long Road! This is the best documentary DVD of Nickelback yet! I can say that comfortably, even though I don't have the DVD yet! As of yet, I am still trying to find out where I can buy Nickelback: The Videos (Re-Release)!

November 18th 2004 - On Monday, Chad Kroeger's 30th Birthday, Nickelback won an award at the SOCON Awards! Nickelback won the International Achievement Award, while Chad Kroeger won the Rock Music Award for Best Rock Song for his collaboration with Carlos Santana for the song Why Don't You And I?! What a great present for Chad Kroeger's 30th Birthday, although Nickelback did not attend the SOCON Awards held in Toronto, Canada!

November 14th 2004 - Nickelback have been nominated for Favourite Band in the Pop/Rock category at the American Music Awards (AMAs)! Nickelback are up against Evanescence and Outkast! The AMAs will be broadcasted live tonight between 8 and 11PM (Eastern and Pacific time) on the ABC channel!

To add to this, Carlos Santana's song Why Don't You And I? which Chad Kroeger wrote the lyrics for has also been nominated for Song Of The Year in Modern Adult Contemporary Radio! The NBC Radio Music Awards will be broadcast live from Las Vegas on October 25th at 9/8PM! Visit the official site here!

October 14th 2004 - RoadRunnerRecords have decided to cancel all of Nickelback's singles and the DVD this year in Australia and Germany! This comes as a huge surprise as The Long Road went officially triple platinum in Australia around 1 year on from being released! I'm hoping RoadRunnerRecords don't do the same to the UK Nickelback Fans! After all...Maybe they will surprise everyone by releasing singles and the DVD everywhere in 2004...I'm hoping that they will!

October 9th 2004 - The message on The Official Nickelback Site in the Tour Diary states that Nickelback will take the rest of the year off, before starting on the 6th album in early 2005! After the 6th album is released Nickelback will do an extensive world tour! Read the full message here!

October 1st 2004 - Although it is very later than advertised a new feature has been started, but not on Part 1, but Part 2 instead! The new feature is Set Lists. I know it is just over 2 months late, but I knew I couldn't add Set Lists onto Part 1 as the Bandwidth had ran out, only to be renewed the following week, so therefore I knew I couldn't add any new feature on Part 1. So now you can go to Part 2 and take a look at Set Lists! The first Set List added is from September 20th 1999 in Winnipeg, MB, Canada at Convention Centre!

September 30th 2004 - Chad Kroeger revealed to a Guitar Magazine in an interview that I LOVE THE WAY YOU'RE LEAVING ME is infact wrote as the sequel to How You Remind Me! I LOVE THE WAY YOU'RE LEAVING ME is the song that I added this week to the Lyrics Page of The Long Road Of Nickelback: Part 1! August 31st 2004 - The message on The Official Nickelback Site states that Nickelback will be taking well earned time off after their last concert to promote The Long Road on September 5th, but then Nickelback will begin on their 6th album I would predict in about March! Nickelback already have 3 songs wrote for this album that have never been released as a studio recording, but have been performed live in concerts: Across The Tracks, I Love The Way You're Leaving Me and Next Contestant! April 1st 2004 - Nickelback's 3rd single from The Long Road - Feelin' Way Too Damn Good, crashed out of the Top 40 UK Singles Chart in it's 2nd week! I stand by what I said below (March 23rd 2004) it isn't getting played enough anywhere in the UK and I think that is a disgrace!

March 23rd 2004 - Nickelback's new single (Feelin' Way Too Damn Good) entered the Top 40 UK Singles Chart on Sunday at number 39! This is probably the lowest entry for a Nickelback single in the UK. I would put it down to not having any live videos recorded for chart shows including BBC's Top Of The Pops and ITV's CD:UK, alongside the fact that I myself have only heard Feelin' Way Too Damn Good played only once on BBC Radio 1 (a few weeks ago) and once on Virgin Radio (this morning)! If the single has more radio play this week then I would guess it could improve it's position in the Top 40 UK Singles Charts!
