My Start In The Hobby
I started keeping budgies in febuary 2005,i never knew about the exhibition part of budgie keeping when i was first looking for stock to get me started,i had been looking for a while for a breeder,then i found an advert in the local pet shop 'budgies young and old' i phoned this number and found a very kind helpful man 3 miles away from where i live,me and my dad arranged to go and visit that afternoon and thats when it all began,we got there and the man (Dave Reekie,formerly of hastings BS) said his friend up thr road would have something more appropriate for me so we went up there and meet Goerge Millar,and arranged to come back in 2 weeks time to collect 4 pairs after i had finished off the shed,i still did,nt realise the difference in size from the pet birds and exhibition birds until they said when i was visiting that i would have to start exhibiting them,
i had a great amount of help and free birds from Dave and Goerge before they decided to leave the hobby due to work and health problems,which i am very greatful for as i dont know whether i would ever of had exhibition birds if it wasnt for them
