Welcome To Our Web Site

We are Parkside Colliery Male Voice Choir, based in the North West of England, between the industrialised towns of Leigh, St Helens and Wigan.

Originally formed as a colliery choir, we continue to entertain throughout the country after the colliery itself has closed, happy to represent our heritage and our forefathers

Have a look around.  We have a full history of the choir, including its officers, information on our six recordings and the points of contact throughout our organisation.

We are happy to hear from you too, drop us an E-mail.

If you have your sound switched on, you should be listening to us singing "When the Saints go marching in"

JOIN THE CHOIR

The choir is always looking for new members to join us, to replace those who retire or leave. So if you have sung in a choir before, or just interested, why not come along and try us out.

We are a friendly bunch, and as well as rehearsing and giving concerts, we have a number of social events throughout the year as well.

We rehearse every Monday night 7:30 to 9:30 pm at The Congregational Church, Hilton Street, Ashton-in-Makerfield. WN4 8PD (Next to the YMCA)

Requirements to join the choir

  • a). You must be male
  • b). aged between 16 - 96 years (although we are open to negotiation on this upper limit).

We don't expect you to read music, but it helps if you can, and there isn't any audition before you join.

What to expect if you come along

You will find the choir extremely supportive of any new member, irrespective of their experience.  We will let you choose what section you find most comfortable to sing in (top tenor, second tenor, baritone, bass). We don't mind people moving sections if they find a level they would be happier singing.

What to do if you are interested

Either come along on a Monday night (enter by the main door of church, in front are two doors the one on the right is the main church door, to the left of this is the hall we use to rehearse in.)

Or contact the secretary listed on the contacts page.
