10-26-2007. Leopard came out! Today's comic is finally up! It's super detailed, and uses smooth shading. In total, it took me 3 days to do. Photoshop has been working well in Linux, and I'm working in Manhattan tomorrow.
10-25-2007. Comic will be up tomorrow. I promise. By the way, OS X 10.5
(Leopard) is coming out tomorrow! I can't wait to get my new MacBook
Pro in November.
10-24-2007. Sorry about the delays. With school
work, it's getting almost impossible to use the computer. The next
comic will probably be the most detailed I have ever done. I've been at
it for more than 3 days, and I've only finished coloring 3 panels.
Plus, I'm trying to get used to Photoshop 6.0, which I installed on
Ubuntu. I've also added a progress bar above. It's updated every day,
so it's fairly accurate.
10-12-2007. Today's comic is up! I'm rather pleased with my progress, considering school and work.
10-11-2007. Happy Birthday to me! I got $400 today, and I only need
$150 more to get a nice new MacBook Pro 15-inch. As soon as I get it,
I'll post pictures of it. I'll probably be getting it on Thursday or
Friday (of next week). 10-8-2007. Busy weekend. I got today's comic up! Friday's comic is
ready, so it'll be here on Friday. Doing several comics in advance is
much easier than making one in the last minute. I'm also working on a
character data sheet, which you can expect to see later on today. By
the way, Happy Columbus day! 10-4-2007. I've noticed that there may be some problems with the comic
archive page. I'll try to fix them. The mobile page works fine, I've
tested it. Good thing Columbus day is on Monday, I have a three-day
weekend. I've drawn up three new comic, and started the computer work
for one of them. 10-3-2007. As you
may or may not have noticed, the website looks completely different. I
organized the comics and the news pages. The newest news will appear
here, on the "Latest News" page. The older news will appear on the
"News Archive" page. Same with the comic. This will cut loading times
drastically, because the news page takes forever to load, with all that
text and flash. The mobile page is back up and running, because I
re-uploaded the images, and now they work. About the new computer, I'm
probably going to get it in mid-late November. 9-28-2007. Busy week... On the animation page, I added a little animation I made about Apple and Windows. Linux is good so far. The comics will start updating regularly(I'll try to). I also thought about using an FTP server to store all my files. Then, I wouldn't be limited by the site's storage capacity. The Apple vs. Windows flash mad it onto Newgrounds, also. I should be able to finish the Madness animation by Mid-December. Counting by how much I've earned, I'd say I'm about a month away from that nice new Macbook Pro 15 inch laptop. I haven't used Windows in about a week! Which is good, because I've permanently abandoned Windows. Linux all the way!
9-24-2007. School has really been keeping me busy, with all the projects and homework. Linux boots up in about 1 minute, now, so Linux has become my primary operating system. Also, my Madness Office Edition Preview made it onto Newgrounds(which is pretty hard to do). I'll try to update on the weekend.
9-20-2007. I reformatted my computer! I installed Ubuntu 7.04 again, and I made it look like Mac OS X. You can see a screenshot at the extras page. I'm currently working on an art project. Expect it to be on the drawings page in a few days. I might re-do the comics page, and make it into album page, because a Flash-based viewer is hard to do. The comic have been coming a bit slow lately, but that's because of school. I will try to upload a new comic every weekend. By the way, it's almost Madness Day! After tomorrow it will be Madness Day. I might be working on that day, though.
9-14-2007. Currently, the mobile comics page has some bugs, so it might not work. Also, I updated the sketchpad application(Now known as D-Paint). I probably won't be able to update the page, because I'm reformatting my computer's hard-drive. By the time I get the internet installed and Linux installed, it will probably be Sunday. Oh, and about that hosting website, it doesn't seem malicious, but it is chock full of advertisements, so full that you spend more time scrolling through advertisements than actually reading the content. So I've made my decision- I'm staying with freewebs.
9-13-2007. I've redone a lot of the pages on this site. Many places that had pictures right on the page took too long to load. I removed the images and gave all of them links. This way, my site will be more mobile-accesible, and users with dial-up will be able to load this site much faster. Also, I will begin accepting user-generated content by e-mail. You can send Flash media to me at danielzabolotny@gmail.com. Please don't send copyrighted or stolen media from newgrounds. More details on the animations page.
9-12-2007. 4 days of vacation! I might actually be able to get some comics done in these 4 days... There's also this site I found, which hosts your site also, but for free. I'll try making an alternate site there, but I have my doubts about the place. 1 gigabyte of storage for free?
9-11-2007. A sad day... Maybe on the long weekend I'll have more time to spend updating the site. The template has changed slightly, but it looks much better.
9-9-2007. September 11 is coming soon. Anyway, on Thursday and Friday, school is closed(for me in NYC) for some Jewish holiday(Sorry, but I just can't spell it.) Also, check out the animations page, because I added this cool little mini application called Sketchpad. It's currently in beta, so there may be glitches. So far it can: Draw in different colors and thicknesses, erase in different thicknesses, make "new documents," and it can indicate what color or line style you are using. It was made in Flash 8, using Actionscript 2.0. Also, ignore the little red close button, because it only works for the .exe version of Sketchpad.
9-7-2007. With school, I'm kind of busy, so I won't be able to update. Myspace is really annoying. You can't put Flash animations or video into your myspace page(without HTML, which most teenagers don't know). Another thing: myspace is degenerative to your health. Basically, you're killing your brain cells by spending 10-12 hours a day on myspace. Side effects of Myspace include:- Staring at yourself in the mirror, thinking "Do I look good on Myspace?"
- Having a thousand friends.
- No privacy
- An urgent need to check your profile every 15 minutes.
- A desire to buy a Sidekick 3 so you can check yourself out on the go.
- Taking thousands of pictures of yourself that nobody wants to see.
- Always carrying a digital many camera to take pictures of yourself every 5 minutes.
Anyway, I'll be busy most of the weekend, so don't expect too many updates. 221 visits! Keep visiting!
9-4-2007.School started again, which means I won't be able to update too often. I'm working on some Flashes right now, and the Madness Office Edition is coming along really well. On the animations page, I posted an updated demo of Madness Office Edition. I also updated the pictures section. My computer is really retarded now, so the Flash making will have to wait until I get a new computer. I was pretty bored at school today, so I made a list of why I hate the first days of school.- Getting up early.
- Going to sleep earlier.
- Filling out hundreds of those Delaney cards.
- Teacher never remembers or pronounces my last name correctly(Which is Zabolotny[Zah-boh-lot-nee]).
- New schedules and classes.
- Not seeing my friends.
- Program/Schedule screw ups.
- General mayhem, with students and teachers being in the wrong classes.
- I have to use my own MetroCard(I live in NYC) until the school gives me one.
8-31-2007. It's me again, telling you people that I finally overcame my laziness and made a new comic. Don't expect too many updates over the weekend, because I'll be working all weekend long. I'll try to do Monday's comic in advance, because on Monday, some relatives of mine are flying in from Russia. Also, I have a major dilemma. Should I turn my comics page into a photo album? Constantly updating the Flash file is a pain. I don't know which is best for the site...
8-31-2007. Hmmmmm. I'm actually in a good mood today, and I can't think about anything to rant about... I could always go over how much Windows sucks, but that's getting old. Remember, September 22 is Madness Day on Newgrounds.com, and on my site. If you have a Madness Day cartoon, you can also e-mail it to me, so that I can post it on this site. Oh, wait- I remembered something that I can rant about. Myspace! Why is that site so popuar? All you do there is you post pictures of yourself for the world to stare at. Besides, 5 out of 20 clicks on Myspace usually results in an error with the site. Another thing- AIM! Sure Aol Instant Messenger is nice (I use it too), but is it really necessary to spend your whole day thumb-typing in AIM on your Sidekick 3? I can't stand it when people constantly do this: Flick open their Sidekick 3, Tap in a short message, close the phone, and put it in their pocket. Then, 5 seconds later, they take it back out, and do the same thing over and over again. I once had to stand in line next to this person with a Sidekick 3. All I kept hearing was "click,tap-tap-tap,click" over and over again. I mean, I have nothing against the Sidekick 3. It's a great piece of technology, but the people who use them have no common sense. Don't they know that by constantly flicking the screen back and forth, they reduce the Sidekick's lifespan from several years to about a year? Also, one thing that really annoys me is leet. Leetspeak, also known as L337, is really annoying. D0 j00 Hav3 t0 wr173 53n73nce5 l1k3 th15? I'm pretty fluent in Leet, but I never use it in my daily conversation. Is it necessary to include n00b in every sentence you say? People who speak/write in leet are being assholes to all the regular people who spend time trying to decipher what you idiots wrote.
8-30-2007. People are so ignorant these days. Learn to use Flash! Sure the newest one costs $699, but you could buy a used version of Flash MX 2004 on amazon.com for $200. Seriously, is $200 a lot of money? I make that much in about 2-3 days, and I'm 15. You can do so much with Flash. You can:
- Make animations
- Make Games
- Make those annoying banner ads that everyone hates
- Make clock and other cool stuff for your site, such as a picture viewer.
- Draw, because even without animation, Flash is still the best vector drawing program on the market.
- Make interactive animations
And so much more! Flash can even edit photos to some extent. Now, for my second rant of the day. Learn HTML! Do you people think that the site editor(both old and new) magically creates your pages? Well it doesn't. The site editor simply adds all the little brackets and templates to what you type. Internet Browsers do not simply read text, they read HTML. Remember, if the site editor just so happens to fail, if you know HTML, you can keep going. Plus, with HTML, you can create your site on the computer without an internet connection, and then simply copy and paste the HTML into your page. You're probably asking "Do I need expensive software like PageMaker, or Dreamweaver?" The answer is no. Sure, its nice to have those programs, but you don't really need them. You can use notepad(Windows), Gedit(Linux), or TextEdit(Mac OS X). All can save HTML files. Just add the .html prefix to the file name, and click save. Using this method, it is also possible to save Actionscript files as .as in Notepad. My final rant of the day is about spelling and grammar. Does it take that long to capitalize and spell properly? Is "LOL" a necessity in every sentence(I mean outside of the Instant Messaging world). I hate seeing this on pages: "LOL, ROFL, STF, STFU, OMG, OMFG." Is it really necessary to add these into your daily language? Spend those extra 2 minutes, and proofread! Another tip would be to get the Mozilla Firefox browser. It is available here. Firefox is available for most languages, plus you can customize it to your liking. Firefox runs on almost all versions of Linux, Windows, Mac OS X, and Solaris(UNIX). In Firefox, enable the spell check in the advanced options panel. OK, that should be enough ranting and raving for today...
8-30-2007. What's up? I'll be busy this week, with two things: web design, and madness office edition. By web design, I don't mean my site. I'm designing a site for somebody. Madness Office Edition is coming out great, though. I made an actionscript 2.0 camera, which helps a lot. If you want to get an actionscript camera, visit my extras page. Also on the extras page, you'll find a few screenshots of my upcoming madness office edition.
8-29-2007. I can't decide! Should I get a Sony running Windows, or a Macbook Pro running OS X. With tax, there's only a 300$ difference in the prices. The tech specs are the same for both laptops, so it's just a matter of price and operating system. Another thing- school starts soon, and I'll probably be too busy to update the site more than 2 times a week. Just 5 days left until summer vacation ends...
8-27-2007. Damn. I have to get a Sony, running Windows... The Macbook Pro is just too expensive, and a lot of my specialized Windows hardware won't work with Mac. Plus, I heard Gears of War is coming out for the PC, and I have to get it. The Sony I looked up costs $1779. It will have: 2gb of RAM, 200gigabytes of hard drive space, and an Intel Core Duo processor running at 2.2Ghz. To top it all off is an nVidia GeForce 8400 GT, with 128mb of dedicated video memory. By contrast, my 7-year old laptop has 30 gigs of hard drive, 512mb of RAM, and a Pentium 3 processor. It has a very weak nVidia GeForce Go 2 with only 16mb of video memory... As soon as I get my new laptop, I'll start saving up for a Macbook Pro. By the time I go to college(yes, I'm still in high school), I'll probably have an Apple. A minor setback. I don't want a Windows-based computer, but I need a newer machine for animating and graphics design, so a Sony will fill in the blank until I get enough money to buy that sacred Macbook Pro. Oh, and I finished making my own preloader. I'll be leaving Connecticut tomorrow, so I probably won't have time to update the site.
8-27-2007. So far, so good. The vacation is going well. By the way, I finally posted a new comic today! So here I am, sitting by the pool, tapping away on my laptop. About the Macbook Pro, I only need $1000 more dollars. If you're feeling generous, please donate some money below. It will also help to pay for a premium membership for my site. Thank you!

8-26-2007. Connecticut! Is ok... Foxwoods Casino was awesome. I'll try to get some pictures posted tomorrow. Luckily, the 2-star hotel I'm in has free wireless internet. I've made up my mind. I'm gonna get a Macbook Pro (15-inch). Mac still get less viruses than windows, and Flash and Photoshop work on Mac. It's $2000 dollars, though. Anyway, I'll be in the hotel all day tomorow, so I'll finally be able to update the site.
8-23-2007. 8-24-2007. I'll be busy for the next few days, but I'll try to update the site.By the way, do you know that I am typing this in HTML? HTML stands for HyperText Markup Language. Out of all the languages out there, it's the easiest to learn. I just started learning it yesterday. Tomorrow I have a social event to attend (I still try to have a life). On Sunday, I'm leaving to Connecticut, but I'm still taking my laptop with me. I'll be at the Foxwoods Casino all the way until Wednesday. By the way, I'm going to be developing a second domain for use on PSP's and cell phones. The mobile site will not have any fancy flash stuff, so it should display properly on your mobile device. I'll activate the domain sometime today. The new domain will be http://freewebs.com/pccm. That way it's nice and short, and typing it on your cell phone won't give you carpal tunnel. I'm also considering the premium service, which would get me a real domain name, without the "freewebs.com/" thing. It would give me lots of web space, and a really large bandwith, as my site's popularity continues to grow. Cheers!
8-23-2007. 110 visits! OMG! I never expected so much response from people! By the way, did you people see all those crappy widgets? Ugh! Don't you people know that you can make your own widgets? You can customize them, and edit them as much as you want! Seriously, you can do a lot of stuff in Flash. I also found this awesome site, which lets you download trial versions of every Flash version ever made! Go here. If you are using Windows XP, then Flash 8 is fine. If you're using Win 2000, then MX 2004 will do fine. Unless you have Vista or Mac OSX, there is no reason to get Flash CS3, because it eats away 1 gigabyte of your hard drive. The link I provided does not have CS3, so if you need Flash CS3, you'll have to go to adobe.com and get an account, and then download Flash CS3. Anyway, did you see the clock and the comic viewer? That's all created in Flash. I might not update regularly on my webcomic, but that is because I have a lot of Flash projects to finish. I have to finish: 1) A Windows XP simulator. 2) A Madness tribute (If you don't know what madness is, then head on over to my animations page.) 3) A VERY gory/bloody kill pikachu game. Each of these projects requires separate things: a whole lot of coding, animation, and whole lot of creativity. If you want your own custom widget, or the code to create a widget, go to my extras page.
8-21-2007. I'm still looking for a new computer... On Saturday I was at the computer store, and there was nothing but Windows Vista. If I buy a Vista (ugh!) PC, I don't know if Wubi will be supported in Vista. Dell looks good, especially the ones with Ubuntu preinstalled. Anyway, I'm changing the comic update schedule. Now, I'll update Tuesdays and Fridays. I'll try to stick to my schedule. As I'm writing this at 2:00pm EST, today's comic is about half-finished. For the next few comics I'll try to use the main character, instead of parodying ads. I'll be gone over the weekend, because I'm going to Connecticut. I'm really pleased with the amount of visitors this site is getting. In two days, the counter went from 20 to 72! Keep on visiting, because I add stuff to the site almost evrey day!
8-20-2007. This page really makes me angry. It says a the top "Highly Reliable"(It's about Windows Server 2003), but Wndows on average crashes twice as much as other operating systems. "Higher Uptimes?" That's absurd. Linux has longer uptimes. Even if you don't do anything, Windows gets slower as the day goes by, while Linux doesn't. The only reason Microsoft is still on top is because it bribes companies to use Windows. Windows "looks" better than other OS's, but does it perform better? Did I mention how much malware Windows picks up? Here are the statistics: 1 in 11 Windows computers has some form of malware on it. Sure, Linux looks plain compared to Vista, but Vista is all form and no function. The only reason most people use Windows is because it "looks" better, and because it's preinstalled on new computers. Is it that hard to install Linux? It's actuallly much easier than Windows, and takes up much less space on your hard drive. Seriously, step outside the Windows box, do you need pretty colors, or do you need a functioning computer? With Windows all the good software is insanely expensive. Take Photoshop, for example. It costs $699 for the basic version, and $999 for the pro version. GIMP has the same features as Photoshop. All you need is at least 8 gigabytes of memory(4 gigs bare minimum), and you can run Linux. The Linux OS itself only takes about 400mb. It comes with good software, which is fully functional and usable. What it doesn't come with, is all the trial and demo crap that Windows comes with. I applaud Dell for being the first manufacturer to step outside the windows box and sell computers with Ubuntu Linux preinstalled.
8-19-2007. I've been toying with GIMP (Gnu image manipulator), and I must say, it's pretty good for a free program. I might actually abandon Photoshop CS and start using GIMP to clean up the webcomic. It's also available for windows, so you people can try it out for yourselves. More on it in the software review section.
8-18-2007. I finally got today's comic up. It took me 3 hours to color/shade in Photoshop CS, and I added a background. If you haven't seen the mac vs. windows ads, you won't understand today's comic.
8-17-2007. I made a little something extra for this site. It's a character profile. Check it out on the newly created extras page. It took a while to do in Photoshop CS, which I got working on Ubuntu. Also, you'll be able to save the picture, because I didn't disable the right click function on the extras page. Anyway, I'm working on two things currently: Kill Pikachu, and Windows Vista simulator. The Kill Pikachu is very gory and should not be played after you've eaten. The Windows Vista sim will give you XP users a taste of the Vista "experience." I'll also be starting a Linux software review page. So far, Ubuntu 7.04 has not gotten a single virus, and I've been downloading everything in sight, and I don't have any antivirus or firewall installed. Just reminding you Windows users- it's never too late to switch to Linux.
8-14-2007. I finally got Monday's comic up. I used Artrage2 (free version) and Flash MX. I got Artrage to work with WINE, and got Flash MX to work with Crossover Linux. By the way, I'm using Ubuntu 7.04. So far, so good. Anyway, I posted today's comic in a new form. All the previous and today's comics are in a Flash based viewer. Once the viewer loads, you can view the comics without having to scroll or wait for the page to load, like in the many other webcomics out there. I will also be adding a new pictures section. It will contain humorous images that I come across while surfing the web. The previous pictures section will be renamed "My drawings." Also, if you feel like installing ubuntu, got to my Linux Installation (also a new section), for instructions on how to get started. Anyway, that's just about everything I have to say today. I will also be adding a forum. Now you can leave a comment in the forum, in addition to the shoutbox and email. Go on to the forums and check them out. There are topics for many computer related subjects. Also, as you may or may not have noticed, there is a completely new website layout.
8-12-2007. Big news! Yesterday, I finished making the switch to Ubuntu Linux. Windows had really become annoying in the past month or so. Sketchbook and photoshop kept freezing up, and windows kept crashing. All the viruses and spyware on Windows had really pissed me off. Linux is pretty good, and once I get Flash running, it will be even better. From now on, I'll be using Inkscape to draw. Its a pretty good program, and it comes for Windows, Linux, and Macintosh. With this switch, the monday comic will be pushed to tuesday (mainly because of work). Go Linux! Oh, and by the way, you might notice a difference in the style of the comics for day to day. That's mainly because I'm still learning drawing on the computer. From now on, my comics will have color backgrounds (I recently discovered the layers function in inkscape). If you didn't know by now, all of my comics are made on the computer, with a graphics tablet. :)
8-8-2007. Yes, I know its been more than a week since I updated. My webcomic is just getting started.Plus, I had to think of a good idea to make a comic about. If you haven't noticed, I added two new sections to the site. My animations and my pictures are completely original, so you won't find them anywhere else.
7-30-2007: I am currently working on the next strip, so expect it soon. Anyway if anyone knows a good drawing program, drop me a line at either the comments box below, or to my email address at danielzabolotny@gmail.com
Hello, my name is Daniel, and I'm the creator of this site and my brand new webcomic. Best of all, access to my comic is absolutely free, so you can go ahead and click on the link in the bar above. The comic is called "PC." Occasionally, random unrelated stuff will appear in the strip for the sake of humor. Anyway, I'll update the site every Monday and Thursday. Also, I might be busy because of work, so in that situation I would update the site as soon as I have access to a computer.
