My Bio .............
My name is Pat Button. I have been involved with the dog fancy ever since we got our first dog, an English Springer Spaniel in 1983. I took her for obedience classes to the Saskatoon Kennel & Obedience Club that same year. At that time I became a member of that club. A year later I volunteered to be the Show Secretary for the first time. To tell the truth I didn't know the difference between a Junior Puppy and a Senior Puppy! I obviously had no idea what I had volunteered for! With some help from a few of the members, namely Mary Wagner, I managed to get the job done. And if that wasn't a strong enough lesson I also did the show the following year and did so for a good twenty years thereafter! I have been a show secretary for a number of All Breed clubs over the years and have done many specialties and stand alone obedience trials.
I originally started out with English Springer Spaniels. We had four of them at one time. Although not BIS quality they all had points towards their championships; two finished. All four, however, had Obedience titles and won many High In Class scores. When we were down to our last springer, I acquired a sheltie. A beautiful blue merle. Because he was so striking we called him Striker - lol go figure! Striker and I went on to acquire many High In Class scores. He has his CD's from Canada, United States & the United Kingdom. A sight problem of his prevented us from competing any further in Open. Even so his one and only qualifying score was High Scoring Sheltie in Open B and High Score in Open B. Striker sadly passed on April 17, 2009. I now have two little girl shelties, Cassie & Ginny. Cassie has her Novice obedience title and she too is a St. John's Ambulance Therapy Dog as was Striker. She and I have also done agility and Rally O. I just recently acquired Ginny and we'll start playing in obedience this fall. Needless to say, I love obedience and have taught classes now for 25 years. I am also involved with the Canadian Kennel Club's Canine Good Neighbour program as a tester. I have done these tests a number of times now and quite enjoy them.
