






1953. I grew up in Toronto, then moved to Ottawa to take a job as a translator in 1975. I have lived in Ottawa ever since.
In my life, I have met some great Canadians, including Tommy Douglas, Pierre Trudeau, Edward Broadbent and Mel Hurtig.
I believe Canadian democracy is under siege at the moment, but I also believe with all my heart that Canadians will not allow our democracy to be destroyed, once they realize what is at stake.
But we musn't delay. Time is running short.
A country is not merely an economic unit. A country is not merely a political entity. A country lives in the hearts of its citizens. We Canadians have the greatest privilege any human being has ever been granted: the privilege to be called a Citizen of Canada.
Canada needs us now as she has never needed us before. We cannot fail her.
The Harper government must be voted out of office at the next election, and NAFTA and the SPP terminated, or we will lose democracy in this country.
