Borders: With the Marquee

The marquee is the most basic tool in Photoshop. It was the first tool I learned to use. Besides being a great selection tool, it is also great for borders. In this tutorial, you will learn how to make borders for your images, making them look more impressive and sophisticated.
1.Take an image, any image you want. And open it into Photoshop.I will be using this image.

Note:Image has been resized.
2.Find & Select the Marquee tool.

3.On the top bar, make sure your 'Feather' is 0 px.
4.First, we are going to make an outside border. Right Click on your image, and select 'Select All'. There should be a moving dotted line going around your image.
5.Right Click again, and select 'Stroke'. A window like this should pop up:

Select the width you want your border to be, and click on the color box to select your color. Pick a color that will compliment your image. And make sure the location is in the inside. You do not want to preserve transparency. Click 'Ok'
6.Go Ctrl+D to deselect, you should see a border going around your image. Here is mine:

Note:If this is all you want, you are done. But if you want to learn to make an inside border. Continue with this tutorial.
7.To make an inside border, you are going to have to make your own frame. On the same image, click on a point and drag with the marquee tool. Ctrl+D if you want to try it again. At the end, you should have something like this:

8. Repeat Step 5 & 6. You can select a different color for your inside border if you like.
9. Here is mine:

Hint:If you put the borders on seperate layers, right click on the layer in the 'layer menu' (usually on the bottom right corner) and select blending options, you can enhance the border in many ways.
