Tips & Tricks
The Magic of webdesign
Ok, I know, My site isn't the best example of a 'proffesional' site but I'm willing to spill my secrets & let you know what I do.
Well, Here goes..
1. Typing Do not type LiKe ThIs oR LiEk DiS. People cannot understand what you are saying! Type normally, try to spell correctly and use proper grammar. People don't want to read something they can't understand.
2. Naming When choosing a name for your website, try and choose something unique, but not innapropriate. It shouldn't be too long or be hard to remember. For example, x0xo-I-luv-harry-pottah-coz-hez-kwl-x0x0 is probably not a good site name. People will not remember it, nor will they try to. Try to stay away from 'xo' and numbers.PLEASE choose a good site name.
3. I-Frames You don't have to but personnally, and most people would agree, I-frames look really neat and proffesional. If you aren't skilled with HTML tgen don't attempt it. But, If you know your HTML's, Give it a go. Why start a site if you're not going to try & make it better?
4. Content The main reason why people visit sites is for the visitor content. Therefore, to attract visitors, this is your most important part. If you know how to make layouts and graphics yourself, all the more power to you--visitors will love that. Make sure your content is neat and organized and updated often, so people will come back for more.
5. Originality is in_ don't copy someone's site. Why would people go to a site that is a duplicate of a site they've already been to? Put your own ideas into your site, and that's what people will like. I know what I look for when I go to websites, is something I've never seen before. Something that makes me say, "Oh, wow, that's really cool."
6. Give credit where credit is due Pretty self-explanatory. You can get ideas from other sites, but make sure you give credit. You don't want people writing hate messages in your guestbook saying that you stole their ideas. You didn't come up with the idea, so give credit. You should also give credit to where you got pictures from, layouts, backgrounds, etc. All those things are copyrighted on the internet.
7. Be respectful If people take the time to come to your website and sign your guestbook, the least you can do is do the same. Even if you don't sign anything, at least take a look. Maybe you'll be surprised!
8. CSS Ok, Some sites look good without it, but like an iframe, CSS makes it sooo proffessional looking and neat. It's soo simple, honestly. If you don't get it look up a tutorial (I might have one) or just ask me.
Hope I helped.
