As a boy I had a great sense of adventure - I wanted to go everywhere!  I climbed all the mountains, I got lost many times...  I loved the river and the boats and the fishermen.  I watched the big Constellations fly over head and wondered where they were going..?!  I was fascinated by the space race and sat up all night to watch the Sputnics go by. 

I went to school - as people do - but my head was always somewhere else!  Usually, far, far away...  The things I liked, I was good at!  I loved geography and I knew where every big mountain and river was on the planet.  I was amazed by the abbeys and castles around home with their magnificent stone work.  I loved studying Latin and the history of Roman empire.  I loved to write and paint but when you're raised on a farm, that doesn't pay the piper!
