Foundational Scriptures : Romans 12:1-2, I John 1:9, Jeremiah 4:14, James 1:13-15, II Corinthians 10:4, Ephesians 4:22
Everything you do has its basis in the way you think; if you dont change the way you think, you won't effectively alter your behavior. Wrong thinking equals wrong actions. The only way to permanently change what you do is to renew your mind with the Word of God.
2.You can keep repenting for your sins (I John 1:9) If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. However, if you don't change the way you think about a particular sin, you will continue committing it.
3. You must renew your mind with the Word of God ? Romans 12:12 Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer;
a.Your actions won't change the way you think, but your thoughts will change the way you act.
b.It requires labor on your part to change your thinking patterns.
c.Don't allow wrong thoughts to lodge, or live, within your mind Jeremiah 4:14 O Jerusalem, wash thine heart from wickedness, that thou mayest be saved. How long shall thy vain thoughts lodge within thee?
4.You can't say you've changed just because you hear a new revelation~change does'nt come until the revelation you hear provokes change in the way you think.
5.Renewing your mind requires labor and deligence in five key areas: a.Study of the Word of God b.An awareness of how God wants you to think. c.Focused thoughts (focusing your thoughts on The Word of God).
b.An awareness of how God wants you to think.
c.Focused thoughts (focusing your thoughts on The Word of God).
d.Practice of the Word of God until they become your own.
e.Knowledge of the Word of God and Obedience to it !
6.The Word of God has the ability to pull down mental strongholds 2 Corithians 10:4 (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;)
7.Put off your Old Way of thinking Ephesians 4:22 That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts;
1.God will not only not tempt you, He is unable to tempt you.
2.What you pay attention to is what you will desire.
3.A person is lured into sin by yielding to his or her own lust; as a result, sin is born, ultimately giving birth to death.There are many great and mighty acts that God desires to perform in our lives. Promises have been made; yet, we have a part to play for each promise to become a reality. We must understand how to walk in the Spirit and be aware of the dangers of walking in the flesh. There is a path that leads to death and one that leads to life. We must choose the path that leads to life~and that is the path of walking in the Spirit.
John 6:63 says,"It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life." Jesus explains that the Word of God is Spirit. So walk in the Spirit is to walk in the Word. Following the directions of the Holy Spirit and walking in the Word, or the Spirit, is what makes you spiritual.
Walking in the Spirit produces power, life and peace. It's like a man with a vertical perspective. He looks out of a window and surveys all that is below from heaven's perspective, which then gives him the ability to think of God and to think like God. Walking in the Spirit means seeing things the way God sees them, or from His point of view. It is a way of thinking that is in line with the Word of God, the faith of God and the righteousness of God.
Walking in the flesh is also a way of thinking. It is like a man who has a horizontal perspective. He looks out of a window on earth, which only gives him the ability to see what is in front of him~in other words, to think of man and to think like man. The flesh is anything that limits your ability to see things the way God sees them.
When a person walks in the flesh, he only believes what he sees. When a person walks in the Spirit, he sees what he believes From the Word of God. When we begin seeing what we believe from His Word, then God is able to do exceedingly great and wonderful things in our lives. Walking in the flesh and only believing what you see has no profit. Jeremiah 17:5 says,"Thus saith the Lord; Cursed be the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from the Lord." To only believe what you see prohibits you from profiting from the Word of God.
Proverbs 23:7 says," For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he......." You are spiritual or carnel (led by the flesh) based on how and after whom you pattern your thinking. If you think in line with God and His Word, then you are spiritual; if you think in line with the world, you are carnal.
".......In all your getting, get understanding" (Proverbs 4:7)
