This site aims to give practical advice and tips on the ongoing care of rabbits with pasteurellosis. I, myself, had never had any knowledge of this infection until I got my rabbit 'Noodle', she is my inspiration for this site. She is a carrier of the pasteurella infection and during the early weeks of her life was seriously ill, demanding constant care at home and frequent visits to the vet. The symptoms she developed were similar to those of myxomatosis and that was our primary fear. Tests later showed that it was actually pasteurellosis and could be just as deadly !!! After searching sites for any kind of help and advice I realised that although there are a few good sites on the home care and personal experiences of owners of rabbits with myxi (see links page for the best I have found), there appear to be none offering the same sort of experiences and guidance to owners of pasteurella rabbits, so that's where Noodle and I come in, I don't claim to be an expert but am glad to share my personal experience to hopefully raise awareness and help others in the care of their furry friends. |
