Parrots are fantastic, incredible and charming creatures, endowed with strong emotions, and superior intelligence, they are the feathered equivalents of Chimpanzees and dolphins.
Parrots are the also the most demanding and misunderstood of all companion animals. People don’t understand what they are getting themselves into, when they first purchase a parrot. The anticipated wonderful experience, often turns into something very different, and very sad, for both people and parrots; simply because of normal human events, a new boy friend, a marriage, a new baby, a divorce, a move to a new home, and… the bird must go. Sold to the next home, where history repeats itself, until 4 or 5 homes later.
We, “PARROTDISE FOREVER, INC.” take in some of these rejected birds. Most sanctuaries are overflowing, and therefore, many of these perfectly healthy parrots are destroyed, killed, because there are too few loving homes for them. Parrots are wild creatures. They may be domestically bred, but they are not domesticated.
Parrots are messy creatures. They fling food. They poop on your carpet. They will eat your furniture. They may never speak, but they will be loud. They will be jealous of your friends and family. They will bite. Parrots are high maintenance companions, and they don’t care about money. A parrot is a very long term commitment. The larger parrots can live to be 80 years old.
We are a self-sustaining rescue sanctuary, a "forever home" retirement facility that specializes in the large species of parrots. This includes but is not limited to, Macaws, Cockatoos, Amazons, African Greys, Toucans, Eclectus and various other birds. We offer parrots a stable and loving home for the duration of their natural lives. We do not sell or breed birds. Nor do we offer birds for adoption.. Our organization is dedicated to providing a safe, healthy, happy home for unwanted, abused or special needs of exotic birds.
Some of our parrots have special needs and are physically handicapped. Others were saved from very bad and abusive situations like Penny our double yellow head Amazon who has almost completely recovered from her past life, where she was fed alcohol on a regular basis. People at the bar thought this was fun. It wasn’t fun for Penny. Then we have Fred a Sulphur crested cockatoo who used to smoke cigarettes, he was rescued from a laundry mat where everyone smokes. Unfortunately parrots are considered property in many states and a person can treat their property any way they choose.
Our mission is to provide Free –Flight environment for Macaws and other exotic birds to live life as close to their natural world as possible.
We have extensive experience working with Macaws and indigenous birds of many species and have tremendous results with taking in frightened, biters and screamers and transforming them into happy, healthy well-adjusted birds that have a love of life and enjoy living the life of a bird.

We receive no financial support from any level of government and we have personally funded much of it ourselves. Donations are essential in keeping us up and running and for providing these and other parrots a permanent home and safe haven. We depend entirely on the generous hearts of the donating public for the funding necessary to care for these birds, which is why we very much appreciate your support. Any donation, no matter how small or large, will be greatly appreciated and willingly accepted by our Feathered Friends. Even five dollars goes a long way when everyone pitches in to help.
We also have annual sponsorship of a Parrotdise Forever bird which gives your donation a more personal touch. You will receive a photo of a wonderful and special bird, its story, as well as periodic updates and new photos.
There are many ways you can help parrots in need. By donating money, we can continue to expand our facility as well as feed, provide toys and of course veterinary care. As much as monetary donations are needed, there are other ways you can help.
Veterinarian expenses are running more than last year, and we are currently using about 1500 lbs of food per month to feed our feathered residents.
The birds in our care receive a quality diet of Pellets, Parrot Seed Mix, Walnuts, Almonds in shell, Raw or Roasted unsalted peanuts in shell, Lots of bird toys (all sizes) and of course fresh fruits and veggies. We welcome the donations of any of these items in unopened bags and/or containers.
If you would like to donate items to parrotdise, please contact us to drop off, ship, or arrange for the pick-up of your supplies.
Your help is greatly appreciated.
Thank you!
