The team was first made in the winter of 2005. Pistol Pete, also on the hockey team, started the team and started the battle to get Parkwood into the college league. Starting with a small number of players, only enough for one team, the squad soon swelled with new recruits. Soon there were enough to have 11 on 11 in training and a number of friendlies were played. After a fund raising 6aside tournemant, with help from some of the players and PWC members, the team had everything it needed to get into the league and was accepted. A special thankyou has to go to everybody involved in achieving this, without them there wouldn't even be a need for this website!! So by the end of the 05/06 academic year, Parkwood now had an A team and a B team in the league. A lot still to do in the next year, getting kits, team names and picking some new players to fill the gaps in the teams. But the momentum is building, a Parkwood domination of the league can't be far off!!!
The first year in the league for Parkwood United saw them finish safely away from the bottom of the league but equally far from the top. However, for a newly created team with no league experience, it can be seen as an all round good season for United with many valuable lessons learned for the next season. The cup proved a much happier hunting ground for United, with the competition starting later in the season, allowing United to gain some experience as a team before having to compete. They placed second in their qualifying group, have remained unbeaten in all four group games. Then they drew Darwin Towers in the semi-final and brushed them aside in a 4-0 white wash. However, the other Darwin side, Evolution who had topped United's qualifying group, proved to be too strong an opponent in the final as United lost 2-0. A sad ending to the season but a superb achievement for the brand new side.
Including all games in all games, the top three goalscorers were:
1st - Chris Platt with 11
2nd - Adam Kazz with 7
3rd - Jimmy Bullock with 5
