Strategies for maximising Organisation Participation and Ownership

We truly believe the success or otherwise of our work depend substantially on:

Our 6 Key Strategies to achieve these outcomes:

  1. The review process will be inclusive and positive.
We will be facilitating our organisations to identify for themselves areas for strengthening as opposed to us simply coming in as auditors looking for problems.
  2. The recommendations need to go beyond simply pointing out the obvious.
We need to go further to give the organisations some very real and practical guidance and tools in areas that require strengthening.
  3. Any assessment or benchmarking needs to be relevant to the nature and purpose of the organisation.
Many of the organisations who receive contract funding are community driven; people focused; and non-commercial with a long term
It would be inappropriate and nonsense to try and simply impose commercial structures, systems and processes on them.
  4. Recognising that “one size does not fit all”.  It is not about the way things are being done but how effective they are.
  5. Recognise the importance of the kaupapa - the values, vision and purpose to an organisation’s overall effectiveness.
  6. The recommendations will be presented in a way that will increase the chances of their successful implementation.

We are conscious of the number of reviews that once completed fall short of actually helping the organisation move forward.

It is not our intention to do the same.  We will provide some clarity and specific guidance around:

The solutions they are looking for must be practical, relevant and understandable.

Our experience to date has been that these organisations are aware of the issues and are ready and “willing” to move ahead. It is our aim to ensure they are “able” to do so with as much practical support as possible.
