Cadian Display

When the new Cadian Plastics were released, I was fortunate enough to be chosen to put together a display of them for my local retailer, Toyworld Dunedin (thanks to James!).

The base is shaped blue styrofoam, covered in a thin layer of plaster, and the barricade is made as per the WD article. The dragons teeth are made in a wooden mold and cast in plaster. The barbed wire is from Forgeworld. Sadly I totally forgot about unit markings when I painted them (I was working to a deadline, and only just made it).

Dragons Teeth

I really like Dragons Teeth. They have always looked good to me. What I didnt like was the way I have seen other people modelling them. As I understand it, they were made by pouring concrete into wooden molds, and therefore should have the mareks of the boards on them. This was my goal when deisgning how I would make them. So I got a packet of brie cheese that came in this little wooden box (it was actually a very thin plywood) and cut it into planks and glued them together. I then poured plater into them. One side came off to allow me to extract them from the mold. It turns out however that the plaster I was using was off, and once I got some new plaster extracting them from the mold became very difficult. I will make some molds out of latex in the near future (and these may be available for sale also-at least in NZ).
