Rallies

The Port Augusta Pony Club holds rallies on the 2nd and 4th Sunday of the month at the Port Augusta Pony Club grounds. In warmer weather these rallies may be held on the Saturday at 4pm. In cooler weather rallies start on Sunday at 10am. Since rally start times can vary make sure you check the Calendar, latest newsletter or contact the Secretary if you are unsure. Rallies are held from the end of January to the start of December. Rallies involve both practical and theoretical instruction. New members will be placed in a group according to their age, ability and mount.

No person is allowed to mount and ride until after gear check and marking, which is completed in front of the Clubrooms. If you arrive late, you must still be gear checked by an instructor before you are allowed to ride, but you will not be marked (marks are tallied towards end of year prizes).

Membership

Yearly membership (Financial Year) entitles you to ride at every Port Augusta Pony Club rally during the year, and at the shows held at the Port Augusta Pony Club grounds. (For people who are not members of any Pony Club, the Honarary Day Membership at shows is $5.)

Overnight Stables

The Port Augusta Pony Club has 21 large undercover (and sandy) stables available all year round for travellers to hire. The enclosed bullring and dressage arena are also available for stabling. All of the above are within a secure fence. Sorry no showers (as yet) but there are toilet facilities and power available. Close to take away outlets and fodder store.

The stables are also used at shows and rallies days. It is always advisable to request stables at major events like the Showjumping Championships, Horse Trials and Gymkhana well in advance since they get booked out very quickly!
