OCTOBER 2009: FALSTAFF SELECTS ANY LEGACY!
 
'Any Legacy' has made the Offical Selection for the Falstaff International Film Festival 2009! The festival, named after the much-loved knight in 'Henry IV' parts I and II, takes place in Stratford-upon-Avon in the third week of November. It provides a wide range of entertainment and aims to highlight the importance of William Shakespeare being the most influential person in modern cinema. For more info, please click

SEPTEMBER 2009: RUNNING PAINS TAKES A SHORT CUT!

AJ's short 'Running Pains' has made the Official Selection for Short Cuts Film Festival 2009! The festival runs from the 20th to the 23rd October and you can find out more about it
here.

The film, made through the It's My Shout scheme, has been or will be shown at Showcomotion (Sheffield) 2009, Portobello ‘Carnival of Shorts’ 2009, Portobello Film Festival 2009 and Swansea Bay Film Festival 2010. It is distributed through Play4Film (Italy); Headweb (Sweden); Zzizzl (UK); and RatherShort (Germany).



AUGUST 2009: TOMORROW NEVER DAIS SECURES BROADCAST SLOT!

AJ's first short, 'Tomorrow Never Dais', is runner up in propellor TV's Comedyfest competition and will be screened next month! Check out propellor TV (Sky channel 195) on Monday 14th September at 10pm.



JULY 2009: ANY LEGACY AND RUNNING PAINS SELECTED!

Panik Attak's 'Any Legacy' and AJ's 'Running Pains' will screen at the Swansea Bay Film Festival 2010! Now a firm fixture in the Panik Attak calendar, the festival is a terrific way to meet filmmakers  from the four corners of the globe and view their films. JULY 2009: ANY LEGACY PREMIERES!

Paul Jay's second short (after the award-winning Sweet Revenge) will screen at Chapter MovieMaker from 6pm on Monday 6th July. Many thanks to all who helped make this picture happen - comp copies will be available this week.



APRIL 2009: MAGPIE PICTURE TAKES WING


Morning Mister Magpie is gaining momentum! Panik Attak Productions, together with Urban Way Productions and The New Black Productions Ltd. are approaching cast with offers. Over the next few months we hope to have some very exciting news...

In other news, whilst Sonia is in London with Project Base (the NPA's producer development course), 'Any Legacy' is nearing completion. AJ is in the edit suite, with long time collaborators Martyn Standing, Norris Nuvo and Toni Schaefer contributing their sought after talents to complete Paul Jay's second picture. '



APRIL 2009: PORTOBELLO EXPERIENCES 'RUNNING PAINS'!

Any Legacy' will premiere at Chapter MovieMaker in June. Running Pains, AJ's short for ITV1 Wales, received its screening as part of Portobello's 'Carnival of Shorts' in March and will feature as an Official Selection at this year's main Festival in September. Congratulations to all involved!


 


MARCH 2009: RAY PANTHAKI TO STAR IN MORNING MISTER MAGPIE!

We are very pleased to confirm that Ray Panthaki, star of 'The Feral Generation', 'City Rats' and 'Ali G Indahouse', will play the part of Simon in our first feature 'Morning Mister Magpie' (formerly 'Simon Said')! Ray is an exceptional talent and will bring real heart to the role.



MARCH 2009: SWANSEA FINDS THE ANIMALS!

Panik Attak's 'Hidden Animals' has been nominated for Best UK Short (Under 15 Mins) at the Swansea Bay Film Festival! Congratulations to Ryan on a well-earned nomination and a huge well done to cast and crew!



MARCH 2009: KENNETH BRANAGH LOVES 'MUMMY'S GIRL'!
 
Film and theatre legend Kenneth Branagh has watched our latest short, Keri Collins's excellent 'Mummy's Girl', and called it "a haunting, bitter-sweet account of the double life of a troubled child. Touching, atmospheric and very well judged by all the talents involved." This is a stunning endorsement and a great indicator of festival success! Well done all involved!

 

 

 

FEBRUARY 2009: SCREENINGS

 

More great news: Ryan Hooper's 'The Hidden Animals' will be screened at the Bradford International Film Festival! It will also be screened alongside Keri Collins's 'Mummy's Girl' and AJ's 'Running Pains' at Chapter Movie Maker, Chapter Arts Centre, Cardiff on Monday 2nd March from 6:30pm. This is the World Premiere of 'Mummy's Girl' so, if you're free, please pop along and meet the team!

 

 

 

JANUARY 2009: WHAT'S GOING ON?

 

It's been a very busy start to the new year for Panik Attak Productions. We are currently preparing the feature screenplay 'Death, Inc.' for sale on the international market; 'Simon Said' is well into script development; and we are working on two prime time ITV sitcom treatments with long-standing friends Dave Melkevik and Matt Walters.

 

And... 'Death, Inc.' the short will be the next Panik Attak picture. Principle photography is planned for early May and we already have the rather excellent Mr Alun D. Pughe on board.

 

And 2009 looks set to be a great year! With features coming out from Andrew Jones, Gareth Evans and Tom Betts, plus shorts from James Plumb, John Ninnis, Ryan Hooper, Lee Burgess and our very own 'Mummy's Girl' by the talented Mr Collins, this looks set to be an amazing year!

NOVEMBER 2008: JONESTOWN UPDATE

 

Excellent news! Ryan Hooper’s ‘The Hidden Animals’ was screened on Propellor TV as part of their Halloween season and it will be shown at the Swansea Film Festival and Camerimage!

 

We have also just wrapped on Keri Collins’s ‘Mummy’s Girl’ which we hope to bring you more exciting news on as events unfold. A huge thanks to all those involved in making the short!

 

It is looking likely that the next film to bolt from the Jonestown stable will be Death, Inc...

 

 

 

NOVEMBER 2008: RUNNING PAINS

 

AJ's film for the It's My Shout youth training scheme, entitled 'Running Pains', will be screened after 'In Deep' on ITV Wales at 11pm on 26th November 2008.

 

 

 

OCTOBER 2008: NO I IN THREESOME

 

Well! You wait and wait and wait for a short film then three come at once. This country!

 

Post-production is now complete on AJ’s short film ‘Running Pains’. Made through the It’s My Shout training scheme. The film will receive its world premiere at Porthcawl Pavillion on Saturday 25th October and will be broadcast late November ‘08.

 

Pre-production is also well under way with Keri Collins’s short film, ‘Mummy’s Girl’. Principle photography will commence this Halloween.

 

‘Any Legacy’ is also ready to go into the dub and complete post-production. Paul’s second short film will join ‘Running Pains’ and ‘Mummy’s Girl’ at a selection of top festivals next year.

 

 

 

AUGUST 2008: JONESTOWN

 

Our slate of five short films, under the umbrella name ‘Jonestown’, has been confirmed. Heralded by the release of Ryan Hooper’s ‘The Hidden Animals’, we intend to produce Keri Collins’s ‘Mummy’s Girl’ and ‘Movie People’; and AJ’s ‘Morning Mister Magpie’, ‘Death, Inc’ and 'Clinical Waste'.

 

A second slate is planned for the end of 2009.

JUNE 2008: PANIK ATTAK GOES LEFT

 

The short films ‘To the Manor… Murdered!’ and ‘Tomorrow Never Dais’ will be distributed by Left Ltd., a London-based digital distribution company. Left Ltd. have a network of buyers looking for content to broadcast on the internet, VOD, DVD and mobiles. They also run MySpace TV Europe's short film channel 'Shorts Space', so if you've got a short you want to get out there find out more here.

 

 

 

MAY 2008 - PANIK AT THE DISCO

Panik Attak will be working with Disco Mbobu to produce three short films. 'Movie People' and 'The Survivors', both written by Panik's AJ, will be produced by Sonia Jones and directed by Disco's Keri Collins. Sonia will also produce Keri's 'Mummy's Girl'.

We aim to have these films fit for festival submission in 2009.

 

MAY 2008 - AJ TO DIRECT FOR 'IT'S MY SHOUT!'

Great news! Panik Attak's AJ will be directing a ten minute short for ITV Wales through their 'It's My Shout!' scheme. A total of seven shorts will be produced through the scheme and will be broadcast on ITV Wales later in the year.

 

APRIL 2008 - PANIK ATTAK FINDS THE HIDDEN ANIMALS

We’ve just finished producing a new short film by Ryan Hooper called ‘The Hidden Animals’ that peers into the seedy underside of city life. Co-produced by NinFilms the short was shot over three days and is intended for festival screening. We’d like to thank all those involved and we will keep you posted!

FEBRUARY 2008 - TWO MORE SHORTS IN DEVELOPMENT

We now have two more short films to add to our slate! Morning Mister Magpie, a coming of age comedy, and Clinical Waste, a sci-fi drama, are two projects we hope to put into production sometime in the near future. 

 

DECEMBER 2007 - SIMON SAID ATTRACTS PARTNER!

Panik Attak Productions are pleased to announce we will be working with Calon on our first feature film, Simon Said.  

Calon is a new company formed by the former management of Siriol Productions. Siriol were the producers of the Bafta winning Superted, Hilltop Hospital and the animated Under Milk Wood. They are currently developing a slate of live action and animated feature films.

 

NOVEMBER 2007 - WE WON!!! TWICE!!!

We're chuffed to bits to announce that 'Tomorrow Never Dais' has won the prestigious Welsh Dragon Award at the Newport International Film Festival 2007. This award is granted by the festival to mark the Best Achievement in Film.

And it's with great pride that we congratulate Magnus Hinde for taking home the Best Actor award for his star turn as 'Dai'! Magnus is an awesome talent and we look forward to working with him again in the near future.

 

NOVEMBER 2007 - 'TOMORROW NEVER DAIS' MAKES THE GRADE AT NEWPORT INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL 2007!

Great news! 'Tomorrow Never Dais' will screen at the inaugural Newport International Film Festival! If you're around please pop into the Meze Lounge, Newport on Sunday 4th November. AUGUST 2007 - SCREENPLAYS SELECTED FOR MOVIE MOGUL FUND!

The feature-length screenplay 'Seventy Thousand Fathoms of Water' and the short screenplay of 'Death, Inc.' are finalists in the Movie Mogul Fund's first competition! Of almost fifty submissions eight shorts and eight features have been selected to be judged by you - the public! Features stand to receive up to £100,000 funding and shorts up to £10,000 - so click here and get involved!

MAY 2007 - ANOTHER SCREENING FOR 'TO THE MANOR... MURDERED!'

 

Just got back from Cannes to hear that 'To the Manor... Murdered!' will get its second North American screening at the Audience Choice Film Festival in Indiana! The festival screening is on the 7th August and the film will be judged by members of the audience. 

 


 

 

 

APRIL 2007 - PANIK ATTAK AT THE CANNES FILM FESTIVAL

 

This year we’ll be topping up our perma-tans in Cannes. We’re there with ‘To the Manor… Murdered!’ and we’re hoping to generate interest for our slate of feature film projects.

 

Oh, and a note to all would-be burglars: our two dogs will be patrolling the grounds whilst we’re away. ‘Tyson’ is trained to pin a man to the floor tooth to neck without breaking the skin. Then it’s over to our Great Dane, ‘Lipstick’, who has mastered some of Iron Mike’s more criminal manoeuvres.

APRIL 2007 - TWO MORE SCREENINGS FOR 'TO THE MANOR... MURDERED!'

Great news! To the Manor... Murdered! will be shown at The Workhouse Festival this year! The Workhouse Festival is an eclectic and upbeat music and arts festival held in Llanfyllin, Mid Wales from 29th June - 1st July 2007.

And 'To the Manor... Murdered!' will be shown on its third continent this year with a screening at the Everglades International Film Festival 2007! Screenings start first thing this September in one of South Africa's most beautiful hotels, The Everglades Resort.

JANUARY 2007 - HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Happy New Year! Our Christmas has seen us beavering away on my second short, 'To the Manor... Murdered!' Progress has been problematic throughout and has hammered home the truism that a plan is just a list of things that don't happen. Still, we've worked our way through it, learnt our lessons and IT'S DONE! It's finally finished and ready to go, so hopefully you'll be able to catch it at a couple of festivals this year.

 

NOVEMBER 2006 - WE WON!!! CARDIFF FILM FESTIVAL 2006

The Film Agency for Wales recently held an pitching event as part of Cardiff Film Festival. The competition was open to all to pitch an original film idea in front of an audience and a prestigious panel of industry brass, including Pauline Burt, Britt Harrison and Will Machin (of Carnaby Films). I won the 'over 25's' event with a pitch for 'Death, Inc.' and met some really cool people, too! The prize money is currently in a high interest savings account, ready for the next production, and I'm about to get cracking on the feature length screenplay.

We got in!!! Thanks to all who voted for either Sweet Revenge or Tomorrow Never Dais! Both films will be screened on Tuesday June 6th as part of the Swansea Film Festival. Even better, we're up for a few awards! Paul is up for Best Young Filmmaker and I'm up for Most Promising Filmmaker, with Tomorrow Never Dais also nominated for Best Film (Under 20 Minutes)! A big THANKS to everyone involved in these productions!

NOVEMBER 2005 - MIAMI HERE WE COME!

Our first two short films have been screened at International Film Festivals! Made within a strict budget of £350 each, Tomorrow Never Dais played at the Miami Short Film Festival and both Tomorrow Never Dais and Sweet Revenge played at the Cardiff Screen Festival.


 

NOVEMBER 2005 - "AN OUTSTANDING WORK OF ART"

We've received some excellent feedback from our screenings, with Tomorrow Never Dais being described as "an outstanding work of art" by William Vela, the Director and Founder of the Miami Short Film Festival.
