
Bro Herbert P. Quimpo, a diligent student, an engineer by profession, an author, a family man and above all a global Filipino worker with a passion for service and excellence.
Born in Kalibo, Aklan on April 11, 1950, Bro Quimpo is a registered Mechanical Engineer and graduated from FEATI University. He also studied Metaphysics fro Prof. Porfirio Reynoso for five years. He continously perfects his chosen craft through his years of experience in various local and multinational companies.
He joined General Motors Philippines manufacturing Corporation, a producer of car transmissions for GM in Australia, Germany and the US and became one of the first three Filipino engineers who was trained by GM Australia and GM Opel Specialist in the operation of ALL Case Gas Furnaces, Gas generators, Boilers, Induction Hardening, Machine etc. and heat treatment of gears and shifter parts. As part of his continuing education, he received many courses in GM such as Middle Management Course in Human Relations, Supervisory Course, Safety Courses, etc.
To widen his horizon, Bro Quimpo later on joined ARAMCO (gas and oil producer) as a System Designer 111. The highlight of his stay with ARAMCO was authoring two systems in Control and Stanby Equipment and Control of Industrial Gas Cylinders which was incorporated in the ARAMCO Manual. His quest for knowledge and excellence in his field of expertise led him to take additional courses in management and became a member of American Production and Inventory Control Society (APICS-Arabian Gulf Affiliate).
In 1981, homesick that he was, bro Quimpo returned to his family and joined Pilipinas Engine Corporation (IZUSU Motor of Japan), as a Senior Supervisor of parts and engine.
In 1985 during political crisis in the contry, he joined Petroleum Development Oman (PDO), oil and gas producer of Dutch Shell, as Coordinatr for High Speed and Low Rotating Equipment and Static Equipment. His duties include planning and supply maintenance operation material and spares of gas Turbines, gas Compressors, Pumps, gas Compressors, Turbo Expanders, Tanks and Vessel etc. he had the opportunity to be with the distinguised company of Omani engineers who became managers and directors of the company. He left PDO in 2004 due to Nationalization Program but was rehired in 2006 to trouble shoot the problem in management and project materials. Up to present Bro Bert was able to save company's money in the amount of around $800,000 USD by utilizing surplus materials for Oil and gas Flowlines.
His quality work and ability to add more value for the company was noticed by the management. Hence, he became a PDO Multi-awardee in "Shukran", QISS and Suggestion Scheme.
Bro Bert is married to Leonora Pasiola Quimpo with whom he has five children (all boys) who are all in the engineering fields except the joungest who is in 3rd year B.S. Nursing at Southville International School.
Bro Bert was initiated on December 29, 1993, passed to the degree of fellowcraft on May 14, 1994 and was raised to the sublime degree of Master Mason on May 27, 1994. He is a member of Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite, 32 deg. MRS, Manila Bodies; York Rite, 2003 Class President Luzon York Rite; Ancient Arabic Order of the Nobles of the Mystic Shrine - Shriner (Maharlika Club); Chartered Member and elected Treasurer (2005) of San Jose Del Monte Lodge # 357; and Royal King Cork. Presently, Bro Bert regularly writes articles on Mystical practices and wisdom especially in the Pagkakaisa masonic Lodge # 282 Newsletter, " The Trowel".
