The Lookouts was a 'punk' rock band that was on Iron Peak, located in the Mendocino Mountains, lasted from 1985 to 1990. Lawrence Livermore a.k.a. Larry Livermore wanted to get a band together. It was hard for Larry to find member since all the local musicians were hippies according to him. Larry took in his neighbor Frank Edwin Wright III at 12 years old on drums and vocals . Frank did not know how to play drums but he caught on very fast. Livermore once said that Frank loved making a lot of noise and making everyone look at him. Larry then recruited Kain Kong on bass and vocals, completing the line up. Livermore decided that Frank needed a 'punk rock name' so gave him the name Tre Cool.
The band did not put out too many albums but they had two LPs: One Planet One People and Spy Rock Road, and two EPs: Mendocino Homeland and IV which Billie Joe Arsmtrong from Green Day played on. One Planet On People was the first thing to ever be recorded and released on LookOut! Records, owned by Larry Livermore. After, all the members of the band were off doing other things in other locations like studying. Tre Cool left the band to play with Green Day after John Kiffmeyer left the band. This marked the end of The Lookouts.
