Synopsis
Here is a quick run down about the new trailer. To start off the trailer, in a pretty cool hand cam fashion, Naomi Hunter reveals her true colors. Before she was thought to be working for both Snake and Liquid but now, she is working for Snake. Since she knows about all about FoxDie, she can now bring down Liquid Ocelot. Next, it is revealed that a new group, "The Frogs", are Liquid's own Republican Guard! They're basically a team of super soldiers outfitted with awesome exoskeletons. Next, we are treated with a soda drinking monkey and a new character, a sideline gun launderer whose name is Dreblin. Next, the technician in Meryl's squad or the man in the balaclava, is now known as Johnny. Hmm, a balaclava, corky personality, Sasaki anyone?! Next, Eva reveals herself as "Big Mama". Now, we know the lingering theory that the Boss's egg was probably used for L.E.T. but what if Eva's egg was used but why?! Last but not least, Olga had herself a baby girl! Her child, "Sunny" was rescued from the hands of the Patriots and is now shacked up with Otacon and the ol' gang. A lot of great stuff, weird but great stuff. As far as gameplay goes, there is a scene where Snake and Liquid have a stand off while operating Metal Gear Rex and Ray. Could we possibly for the first time control and use a Metal Gear unit? Well, what better way to end the trailer then to have John John dropping a deuce in an oil barrel!

Animals, Farts & P Diddy!
The new trailer is here. The MGS4 TGS Trailer was released today but there were some oddities as usual. I was amazed at the new trailer. I think the part I was most excited about was the scene where Liquid and Snake face off with Rex and Ray! You know what, I won't spoil the fun. Here is the trailer.

The Beauties
When the new GC trailer was released, a new line of female bosses premiered along with it. Now it is confirmed that these bosses will be modeled after real life beauties. The aspect of these bosses will be that these gorgeous women have been formed into beasts due to war, hence victims of war. Now they are somewhat cyborg but once human. The models chosen include Lyndall Jarvis, Mieko Rye, Scarlett Chorvat and Yumi Kikuchi. My god, I am in love! Check out the beauties-

The Beasts
Yesterday, the Metal Gear Solid 4 GC trailer showcased four new bosses. This unit of enemies are called the Beauty And The Beast Unit. The unit consists of Raging Raven, Screaming Mantis, Laughing Octopus and Crying Wolf, all of which are female. In the trailer, they are said to be victims of war but not soldiers. Here are the pictures of these new but odd bosses.

NEW TRAILER...Weird But Awesome
Breaking news, a day early the guys at kotaku.com have just released a new low quality trailer of MGS4 at this year's GC. The trailer showcases a whole new lineup of bosses, two of which look like incarnations of old characters. It seems the majority of these bosses are mechanized. One of the recent trailers included those "unmanned units", in the new trailer you can apparently see someone attached to the wings even though the person might be a mech, this thing is named "Raging Raven". Second off, there is a robotic wolf named "Crying Wolf", a somewhat octopus boss that has tentacles pretty similar to Solidus Snake named "Laughing Octopus" and a weird trio of telekentic tyrants named "Screaming Mantis". Hmm, do you see a pattern here? I'll leave that up to you. But did Konami out-do themselves this time? Why are you listening to me, check out the trailer- MGS4 GC 2007 Trailer

What Awaits...
On Thursday, August 23rd, the Leipzig Gaming Convention will be held in Germany. So Wednesday night (EST) it will be August 23rd in Germany and we will have up to date info about MGS4 or any of the new MGS games they've announced over the last month or so. Check back in the coming days. Take care.

A FoxDie Scrambler?

Again, I am going to refer to E3's 2007 MGS4 trailer. In the last week, I found too "anomalies" after closely viewing the trailer. This time, I'm sure you all remember the scene where Meryl's squad succumbs to Liquid Ocelot's test except for one man. At this moment we have no idea who this although there have been some rumors flying around. Let's clear this up that this man DOES have blonde hair but it can't be Raiden. So, after viewing the trailer again I noticed this man had a device on his arm. It looks like a metallic shield almost. At first it looked a number pad but who are we kidding. I looked at frame after frame and found no clues to this man's identity or why he didn't crack under that experiment, until now. This could possibly be one of the clues that can lead to why he wasn't effected. Nobody else has this on their arm or on any part of their gear. Could this be a FoxDie scrambler? Could this be some kind of new microprocessor that can stop the effects of a controllable entity? Wow, that's deep! Seriously think about it, this man is the only one in his unit that has this and yet, he isn't effected. The item seems to have a wire running from the "shield" itself to a case on his vest and another wire leading from the case to his neck. Could this "shield" operate internally and externally? It's actually quite interesting to think about it but it is not definite. Check out the pics.

New Hidden Message

For the last few Metal Gear Solid 4 trailers, there has been, let's call them "subliminal messages". Not like evil, corporate-buy-this types of messages. Simply put, just messages that are in plain sight, nothing special. Last week, I watched the E3 2007 trailer of Metal Gear Solid 4 and during the fight between Vamp and Raiden, I noticed there was a message on Raiden's exoskeleton helmet. It was pretty clear unlike when you have to squint to see the word "Sneaking Suit". So last night, I did a frame by frame check of the trailer and saw what was written on his helmet. The first time I noticed it, on the second half of his helmet, I clearly saw the sentence; "A Heavy Story". When I checked it again, the full message looked like it was supposed to say "TOKUGAWA HEAVY INDUSTRY" but it actually is spelt, "TOKUGAWA HEAVY INDUSTORY". Again, last time I saw the trailer, I saw "A Heavy Story" written on the other half of his helmet. You'll notice there is kind of two sides of his helmet, you can clearly see the line down the middle of his helmet. Now, I'm pretty sure they didn't spell "INDUSTORY" on accident. So if you look closely the line on his helmet cuts off-
TOKUGAW / A HEAVY
INDU / STORY
Tokugawa is a Japanese electronics company and had advertisements in Metal Gear Solid before. I've checked this over and over again and it is clear, "A Heavy Story" is the new subliminal message, no doubt. To me, it looks like it is just implying a very deep, sad, informative and a eye opening type of plot. If you think otherwise, please, feel free to email me. It seems like other people think it's just "Tokugawa Heavy Industry" but it's not. The hidden message is "A Heavy Story". Don't believe me? Check out the pics.

Unmanned Units?

Hello everybody, wow, what a day! Tonight, I will have the sypnosis on the latest trailers. There was just one thing in the trailer that I didn't get. What were those "unmannded units" controlled by the PMC, flying over and bombing the hell out of the milita?! They looked like terradactyls with bombs! Well, who cares? They were awesome but could it be a new Metal Gear type? We'll just wait and see.

Playable Demonstration
Here it is folks, finally, a playable well a watchable playable version of MGS4. Enjoy it to it's fullest. Here it is- MGS4 Playable Demonstration

Another Demo, Something Unexpected
I did not see this coming although it's highly plausible. MGS4 will bring the arrival of someone from the past, from the 1960's, from Metal Gear Solid the Third. Big Boss? No. EVA! Yes, the return of a grizzled old Eva, with still a lot of makeup. That was a good thing but back in the 60's. She's still carrying her Mauser, but who's side is she on. Check back later for more details.

The Sypnosis Part 2
The trailer starts in the same area as the previous Metal Gear Solid 4 trailers have shown. It starts off with what looks like a military or PMC (Private Military Company) base camp. Both Snake and Meryl and her squad infiltrates this base where Liquid Ocelot seems to overshadow the troops. Roy Campbell sends Snake on their own terms and assignments, no more U.S. government save the world missions, think of it as a freelance contract. Now, Snake is doing a favor and needs to take out Liquid Ocelot and needs to excecute his plan now. Snake isn't as enthused anymore and is kind of cranky about his mission. On his same side, Meryl is quite the leader now, leading her own squad into battle. While they're in the base Liquid seems to activate some type of nanomachines that jump starts a frenzy with the troops including Snake and Meryl. There was one man in Meryl's group that didn't seem to be effected at all and if you looked closely, he has blonde hair, no, not Raiden!? Naomi fills Snake in on about the nanomachines these men currently have. The troops have a certain type of nanomachines called SOP but their 3rd generation type nanomachines are derived from the first generation nanomachines that was part of FoxDie. Liquid wants to seize control of all the troops so what he activated must've been some sort of test in order to have full control of the troops. All of these men start throwing up, convulising, fighting each other. Now with this fully controlled battlefield, Liquid wants to create a revolt. So now it's up to Snake or Meryl to put a stop to his existence which will be pretty tough now. With all the newly infected troops and the new Liquid, it is going to take a hell of a force to take everybody down. As Liquid's picked up by a helicopter, I could've sworn I saw Naomi waiting in that chopper, hm? Before the trailer ended, there was one of the greatest fights I've ever seen between Vamp and Raiden. Vamp is obviously still an immortal but Raiden states not to be immortal but just doesn't fear death. If that's true, then his exoskeleton can make him invincible (like an immortal) because he shoves a sword through his body and strikes right into Vamp's chest. Could this be the battle of the immortals? Can't wait to see what's next.

The Sypnosis Part 1
Well to run down the list, Hideo Kojima announced this is his last Metal Gear Solid game and Snake's story will come to an end with Metal Gear Solid 4. The game will still remain a PS3 exclusive, ultimately keeping the PS3 in the light and not in complete darkness. Next week, there will be a playable demo that Hideo Kojima himself will showcase, more on that later. Everything in the Metal Gear Solid series that remained a question will find an answer when the plot and everything you need to know will come together in MGS4. The trailer that came out today is actual footage from the game, unbelievable visuals I might add. Hideo promises to put all his experience and might from the last 20 years of working with the Metal Gear franchise all into his last and most likely greatest game. The game will be released in early 2008 and it will actually be a simultaneous release worldwide! Back to about the demo, next week on the 17th at the Playstation Premier, Hideo Kojima will play and demostrate a demo, yes a demo, in Tokyo.

Staying In The Game
Today at Sony's Press Conference, Hideo Kojima announced blandly that Metal Gear Solid 4 is still going to be the PS3's big exclusive. Thank God, because I bought the PS3 so I can play MGS4 on the cosole it's supposed to be on and if it was ported to the other consoles, I would be so damn pissed. I'm sorry!

TRAILER RELEASED!
The trailer was just shown minutes ago and I will have a sypnosis in a few minutes and the actual trailer you can watch real soon.

Kojima's Last
MGS4 is confirmed to be Hideo Kojima's last MGS game and Snake's story will come to an end. He put all of his 20 years into this game.

Not Another One
It has been revealed that the PS3 will probably be in jeopardy. Due to it's not so great price drop ($500), one of Konami's execs stated that Metal Gear Solid 4 may find it's place on other consoles. Leaving the PS3 with what? Metal Gear Solid 4 was Sony's big exclusive but this may not be the case. After Konami stated today for it's conference that they will announce something no one saw coming. Only the men at Konami holds the PS3's fate in the balance. If MGS4 goes over to the 360, that's just one more exclusive Sony has lost possibly leading to the destruction of the very overpriced console.

Super Smash Date
Today, at Nintendo's E3 Press Conference, it was revealed that Super Smash Brothers Brawl will be released on December 3rd here in America.

*Quick Note*
The new MGS4 trailer that will be released tomorrow will be available for download exclusively on the Playstation Online Store right after it's appearance. So it's just a race to see how fast you can pop that flash drive in and copy that trailer.

Remember?
Remember Kojima Prodcution's last year's E3 portal site? Well, tomorrow (July 11th) at 1 pm (pst) or 4 pm (est), Kojima Prodcutions will open it's brand new E3 2007 portal site. For the Japanese opening of the site, it will take place on the 17th of this month. Be sure to check it out. Here is the link, mind you it is not up yet but it will be tomorrow.

A Sign From The Kojima Gods
I know this is a little late to be reporting about but, it's better late than never. It is confirmed. Metal Gear Solid 4 will make a appearance at E3 this year. After listening to Kojima Production Report Session #47, here's everything that's going down. Well, at first they were not sure about going to E3, but now they will grace us with the presence of a brand new MGS4 trailer. The trailer will be in high defenition and for the first time, the trailer will be in English. Kojima Prodcutions will be attending the Sony Press Conference and the Konami U.S. Press Conference tomorrow, July 11th. So now, we will get to witness the voice acting for MGS4 which is pretty exciting and this all thanks to Ryan from Kojima Productions, without him we wouldn't be hearing that ol' familiar voice we've all come to known. Here is the link to listen to the report-
Kojima Production Report Session #47

Office Space
Well, everyone knows this year is the first year that the E3 gaming convention has been closed to the public. After getting overcrowded with small time geocities web site owners, it was decided that there will only be video game publishers, developers and video game companies attending this year, 2007. It will be invite only and if you're working at Gamestop or EB, you might be lucky enough to attend, that is if you kiss your boss's ass real good. Now E3 will be known as a Media and Business summit, couldn't be more right. It will be a very small convention consisting of business only, this blows big time, but then again, who wants a influx of fake press roaming their grounds who are just there to check out the games but then again, who can blame them?!

Dialogue
Straight from the Hideochan broadcast, Japanese actor for Solid Snake, Akio Ôtsuka, stated that the dialogue for Guns Of The Patriots will be created throughout the year. He will be the official voice for Snake in the next installment.

Holiday Season
The hosts from the show Xplay on G4 Tech TV made a good point and it was that Sony shouldn't let the Xbox 360 go for another holiday season without any competition from the PS3 and that Metal Gear Solid 4 should be on of the launch games. The PS3 should come out this year along with Metal Gear Solid 4, either when the console comes out or shortly after that.

Delayed
Although it is a good point in the last article but Sony announced that the PS3 might be delayed due to lack of parts. So that means the delay of MGS4. The good news is that the PS3's price range might be from $299 to $399. Not bad.

Figurines
There is a new story of a Metal Gear Solid 4 Snake figure. Medicom is coming out with a figure of Snake, the old Snake you saw in the trailer. It looks quite impressive actually with his cqc outfit, his weapons and the sculpting. They should be released in late 2006. Here is the full story, pictures and info- MGS4 Figure. Here is the picture of the old Snake still in his combat mode-

Taipei Game Show
From February 16th through the 20th, there might be a new sneak peek. I've haven't seen anything new about it but I emailed the company just to make sure but I'm still awaiting a response. At the Taipei game show, the PS3 console made it's appearance again. There will be some new trailers but hopefully there will be a new MGS4 trailer. I'll definitely keep you guys posted with that. Just keep your fingers crossed.

An Explanation
From the Metal Gear Saga dvd, Hideo Kojima stated he would have everything explained in this possibly last installment. He stated all unanswered questions from Metal Gear Solid 2 will be answered and the story will start where Metal Gear Solid 2 ended. He will also try to bring back as many characters as possible. The final truth behind the Patriots will be revealed including what happened to Olga's baby, why Vamp just won't die and how Ocelot is controlled just by Liquid Snake's arm.

The End Or New Beginning
After watching the Metal Gear Saga dvd, Hideo Kojima has stated the fate of the Metal Gear series. The plan truly is to wrap up the entire story. He stated Guns Of The Patriots will be the true conclusion to the series, and that the game will be the climax of the Metal Gear series. The saga will come to a close with the sixth and final chapter in the story of Solid Snake. That may be so but check out the possibilities- Kojima is probably bluffing, another may take over the story, there might be a new story to Metal Gear or maybe a possible child from Snake can take over the story. So don't think it will completely end, think of it as a new opportunity. I'm pretty sure there will be more Metal Gear games in the future.

Brand Spankin New Trailer
Today at the Tokyo Game show, a brand new MGS4 trailer was released. I've seen it and I got the good word. First things first, the trailer released by Konami's site doesn't work, well not for me. Don't go to the Konami Portal site, go to either Gametrailers.com or Ign.com. It is a 6 minute long trailer which mostly shows the gameplay aspect. The trailer starts off with Snake running around and using his octi-camo in almost every situation. Octi-camo is apart of his new CQC suit and it automatically adjusts to any surface, camouflaging Snake anywhere. Half of the trailer showed what you can do with the camo. He can hide on walls, floors and even dead bodies! He also has a new mask and it looks awesome. Equipped with the "Snake eye", it looks like Snake Eye's mask from the GI Joe comic! There was a few scenes that showed Snake using his weapons. It looks from this point, Konami will use Metal Gear Solid 3's game engine, just a little bit more tweaked. That's not even the best part! At the end of the trailer, Snake uses his octi-camo to hide as these statues and when the enemy left, Snake goes back to his regular camo. As the camera is going up from his feet, his face, his hair and his stache is back to young Snake again! Yes, it is true, Snake is not actually old! His hair is dark brown, his face only has a few wrinkles and the famous stache is gone! I can't believe it but unfortunately, that's where the trailer left off. The trailer looked great and hopefully we'll get to see more. Here is the link to Gametrailer's version of the trailer and it works. Thanks Gametrailers.com.

Translation Complete
Yesterday the Kojima Productions Report Session 15 released a 90 second sound clip of the new Metal Gear Solid 4 trailer. I finally got the translation so here it is-

Snake: War has changed, Our time has ended, Our war is over.
Campbell: Since the Manhattan incident, restrictions on military intervention in foreign countries have eased, fueling demand on mercenaries.
Campbell: Today, the world's wars depend largely on PMCs, Private Military Companies whose business includes supplying these mercenaries.
Campbell: PMCs have become a serious threat to the world.
Snake: The U.S. has exported too much of it's military power. Now she's paying the price.
Campbell: In total, they've got enough manpower to rival the U.S. military.
Campbell: Based on our investigation, the five largest PMCs are run by a dummy corporation, which acts as a single mother company.
Snake: And the mother company?
Campbell: Outer Heaven.
Snake: The one world in which soldiers will always have a place...

Crazy, right? Outer Heaven seems like it doesn't want to go away. More intel to be delivered keep checking back.

New MGS4 Trailer, Enough Said
From the Hideoblog, there is breaking news, today they released a 90 second sound clip of the new MGS4 trailer that will be shown at E3. The problem is, it is in Japenese. I'm trying to get one of my colleagues later on in the day to translate but it is not defenite. It sounds like Snake but just listen to check it out. Next week is the E3 convention and there will be new MGS4 info and a new trailer. To see live coverage, check out G4 Tv on cable on May 9th. That tuesday night, (pacific standard time) the folks at Hideoblog will upload a special and long Kojima Productions Report E3 Edition that will touch down on all the things about MGS4. Here is the link for the new pirated sound trailer- Kojima Productions Report Session 15

MGS4 Passport Series
The MGS4 Passport series is a new weekly video cast of both Kojima Production's Ryan Payton and MGS4 Producer Kenichiro Imaizumi traveling and researching for ideas for MGS4.

Vol. 1 "Unknown Location" Info 3/20/06
This week they both ended up by accident in a unclaimed location but they left behind some clues. The clues include a shot of a Coke bottle, the voices in the background and the clothing worn. The last clue is actually on the Passport page and at the bottom, it says "Grazie" which is Italian for thank you. Looking closely it looks like they are in India. While they were here they took panoramic shots for MGS4 and explained how they saw from the top of building, a lot of satelitte dishes all over the city, yet another clue. One last clue was that they mentioned yen, Japanese currency but it didn't look like Japan. Here is a picture of the label on the Coke bottle so see if you can figure out what language that is. Check the video out for yourself- Vol.1

Vol. 2 "Kung Fu Generation" Info 3/27/06
This week, the team is still reporting from a undisclosed location. This time they had to take a lot of pictures and record live sound. They are going to use these elements for the background graphics and sound for MGS4. The art team and designers took pictures of small and detailed textures and all of this for the game. Their sound director, Tojin, recorded in surround sound so MGS4 might be in surround sound. This week, they left behind another clue which was the restaurant they were in but didn't give a whole lot but in a nutshell, the walls were covered with rugs. Check the video out for yourself- Vol.2

Vol. 3 "McFinale" Info 4/3/06
This week is the last week of the MGS4 Passport series. They did more research and took more pictures. They left us off with no more clues except the area they were in which was on a roof looking down upon the city. Check the video out for yourself- Vol.3

The New 15 Minute Trailer
I finally got to see the new 15 minute MGS4 trailer that Konami released today and it is so amazing. It is basically an extended version of the 3 minute teaser you saw yesterday. Wow, where do I begin? First off, Snake was told by Naomi that he only has 6 more months to live before he dies because his body is decaying from the Foxdie virus. Snake is found in the Arlington Cemetery saluting a grave, but who's grave is it? Snake is picked up in a helicopter by Roy Campbell and Otacon. They are discussing about Liquid or Ocelot was found in the middle east and he has taken command of an immense army and is preparing to unleash an armed insurrection. Throughout the trailer, you see the new Metal Gear Gekkous and they are pretty advanced. At the end, Raiden took like 12 of them down not to mention a breakdancing move at the end with his sword that took down about 3. Anyway, the trailer left us off with Snake and his pistol in his mouth just as they did yesterday. Otacon mentions this is the last battle, is this Snake's last stand or is Kojima messing with us? When we find out more, we will keep you posted so here is the link for the trailer-
MGS4 15 Experience

Trailer Time Change
In a drastic change, the time has changed for the trailers and that will be tomorrow at 11am (PST) tomorrow (May 10th). Sorry folks, you just have to wait like always. But don't worry because we will have them up tomorrow. Take care and check back for more updates.

FUBAR
The Konami E3 site server is online and the trailers will be shown at 10pm (PST) tomorrow night (May 10th). It is the full 15 minute trailer. Before, the site wasn't responding due to the big amount of Metal Gear fans trying to enter it. Well check back with more updates. Here is the link to the site- Konami E3

MGS4 Trailer #2
Folks, at 6:30 pm (PST) tonight, there is going to be a new 15 minute MGS4 trailer at Konami's official site, Konami.com. Check back.

MGS4 3 Minute Teaser
Wow, wow, wow! A teaser trailer was released at E3 but it is only 3 minutes of the actual trailer. I can't believe it, it looks awesome. There is Snake, Otacon, Roy, Meryl, Ocelot, Naomi and Raiden, yep, Raiden looks like he is the new Ninja. Snake looks a lot older and  rocking some different gear without the eyepiece. It looks like a war against mercenaries and machines and that all the things about battle are controlled and monitored. I can't speak for it just check it out!
MGS4 Trailer #1 In HD. Here's the regular trailer, thanks IGN-

New PS3 Controller
Yes! Mr. Kutaragi has changed the PS3 boomerang controller and went back to the dualshock. The controller will be wireless along with a usb connection in case you want it connected. The controller will allow gamers to manipulate the action on the screen easier. It will also be motion detected but will lose it's shock. The adjustments made on the controller include larger R2/L2 buttons and better tilting angle on the analog sticks.

PS3 Date & Price Confirmed
Yes folks, the first word out tonight after Sony's press conference, we have the release date and price of the PS3. The console will be arranged in two separate system configurations. The two will be a 20 gigabyte system and a 60 gigabyte hard drive system. The PS3 will first be released in Japan on November 11 of this year costing 59,800 yen for the 20 gigabyte system. North America, Europe and Austrailia will see the console on the 17th of November, 6 days after the Japanese release. The prices are as followed- $499 dollars or 499 Euros for the 20 gig version and $599 dollars or 599 Euros for the 60 gig version. In Canada, that will come to approximately $549 dollars for the 20 gig and $659 dollars for the 60 gig version. Yep, so it will be near the price of a 360 so I really think the PS3 is going to knock the 360 on it's feet even a year after it's release.

E3 Logo

The Story

Metal Gear Solid 4 will take place after the events of Metal Gear Solid 2 Sons of Liberty. Hideo Kojima has stated that unlike Metal Gear Solid 2 and Metal Gear Solid 3, Solid Snake will indeed be the main character. He's also said that the "no place to hide" theme does not imply that the trademark stealth gameplay of the Metal Gear series will be abandoned; instead, he suggests that many traditional ways of sneaking and hiding will change and that players will have to find new ways of using stealth. Walls may be destroyed, exposing Snake to the enemy or elements such as trucks and crates may move. He has also commented that "the graphics and sound will rival anything Hollywood does", and that he is planning to hire psychiatrists to emphasise a "mental battle" between Snake and his enemies, so that "who controls the fear can decide the outcome."

It's believed that the game will utilize a new over the shoulder third person camera system as opposed to the top-down camera used in the previous three Metal Gear Solid games. An experimental version of this camera system will be included in Metal Gear Solid 3 Subsistence. According to Kojima, it will serve as a test to see how well the new camera fits the Metal Gear gameplay. Another feature that will debut in Metal Gear Solid 3 Subsistence, an online battle mode will also be featured in Metal Gear Solid 4. A promotional image released at E3 contains several conceptual character designs featuring characters from previous Metal Gear games including (as confirmed by the May 20th, 2005 issue of Weekly Famitsu) Vamp, Meryl Silverburgh, Raiden, Revolver Ocelot, Solid Snake, Otacon, Big Boss and Naomi Hunter.

Possible Timeline

In the recent trailer released by Kojima Productions, the phrase, "X Years Since Big Shell" is shown, both confirming that the game will take place after the events of Metal Gear Solid 2 and sparking debate on how many years after the Big Shell Incident the game will be set. Some fans speculate that the "X" is a use of the Roman numeral for ten, meaning that the game would take place in 2019 when Snake is 47 years old. It is thought that his old age is a side effect of advanced cell degeneration. However, this is disputed, as the Japanese captions displayed on the trailer read something in Japanese (ano Big Shell jiken kara suunen go...), which translates to "Several years after the Big Shell incident" in English. This would indicate that the "X" is simply a variable, employed in an effort to retain a shroud of secrecy over the game's details rather than the Roman numeral.

Who Is He? Where Is He? Whats The New Gear?

The new screenshots and trailer reveals what appears to be an aged Solid Snake, now resembling Big Boss (including wearing an optical eyepatch over his left eye), although it is not confirmed if he has lost this eye, or the eyepatch is in fact an augmentation of some sort.

The setting is in a war zone, with multiple countries waging war against each other possibly set in China. The soldiers Snake will encounter are not specifically friends or enemies at first, the player's actions towards them will influence how they respond to Snake. The CQC system (from Metal Gear Solid 3) will make a return.

In an urban environment and partnered with a robotic navigator, the Metal Gear Mk-II (previously seen in Snatcher), controlled remotely by Otacon himself. An entire army is also shown patrolling with a group of mass produced Metal Gear models known as Gekkou (from the Japanese word meaning Moonlight), which comprised of a mechanical and organic parts and are controlled by A.I. similarly to the mass produced Metal Gear Ray units from Metal Gear Solid 2.

Metal Gear Raiden: Snake Eraser

Is Raiden going to make his last appearance? During the Tokyo Game Show, Konami director Hideo Kojima appeared on a special stage to show extra material on his anticipated Playstation 3 title, Metal Gear Solid 4 Guns of the Patriots. Kojima was expected to show footage from Metal Gear Solid 4 and to reveal details about the game with members of his development team. This is Kojima that we're talking about, so there was a major surprise for attendees.

Instead of proceeding to the Metal Gear Solid 4 trailer, Kojima began by explaining why the main character in the game ended up being Snake, rather than Metal Gear Solid 2's comparatively unpopular hero, Raiden. Kojima showed the E3 trailer rendered on the Playstation 2 engine, in which Raiden fought Snake for the lead in Metal Gear Solid 4. That trailer was expected, since Kojima usually warms up the crowd before going on to his main presentation. What hit everyone completely off guard was a new sequel to the E3 trailer showcasing a fake game titled "Metal Gear Raiden Snake Eraser".

Metal Gear Raiden Snake Eraser starts out where the E3 trailer left off. Raiden, determined to snatch the main role in Metal Gear Solid 4, decides to time travel to the past to assassinate Big Boss so that Solid Snake will never exist. He appears in the Metal Gear Solid 3 time frame like Arnold Schwarzenegger in Terminator, almost completely naked and discharging electricity. But as he gets ready to find Big Boss, he is knocked out from above by a parachuting Snake, who is landing the HALO jump that begins Metal Gear Solid 3's first mission. Moaning on the ground in pain, Raiden slips out of the time frame while Colonel Campbell's voice can be heard off screen, shouting- "You'll create a time paradox! The future will be changed!". We just have to see if this will be included on the game or if this is another one of Kojima's tricks.

Exclusive Appearances

Metal Gear Mk-11 In Snatcher

In the popular game Snatcher by Hideo Kojima, this little Metal Gear Mk-11 is a mini navigator that was invented by Harry Benson. It is Gillian Seed's navigator, but has A.I. which is humorous and is programmed to like the same women as Gillian! This unit is fitted with many features including a flashlight, motion sensors, videophone, analysis tools, storage space, video and audio memory. Harry quotes about the navigator- "Unlike his last century's inspiration, he was created for peaceful purposes". Harry Benson used the design of the Metal Gear Rex and modified the design to be suitable as a navigator.
