Guidelines and Safety Tips

Safety is the most important thing in parkour and freerunning!

Here are some tips on how to be safe while doing parkour or freerunning:

  •  Warming up is the first step to a good day. Start with some basic stretches and maybe even a warm up run. After a parkour session, it is important to stretch. Not only does it improve flexibility, but it also increases muscle mass.
  • Practice, practice, practice. Master the basic vaults and moves before moving on to anything bigger or more dangerous.
  •  Always be aware of your environment and the people around you.
  •  Respect your environment. Don't vandalize anyones property.
  •  Always train with someone you trust. Preferably a friend to act as a spotter to look out for you and be there if there are any emergencies.
  •  Always stay focused on what you are doing.
  • Always start out on a smaller scale and train your body and mind to handle more extreme situations. Never exceed your limits.

Parkour is a way of training your body and mind to get somewhere or get away from something if the need were ever to arise. This doesn't mean that you go and put yourself into a situation that makes you need to use parkour. And remember, what you do as a traceur reflects on ALL other traceurs. So make sure to keep your act clean and don't make a bad reputation for the parkour community.
