Dog Biscuits - Treat

Hey! The fur babies need treats too. Be frugal with the treats. They put weight on the lovies.

1 tsp. instant beef bouillon
1/2 cup hot water
2-1/4 cups whole wheat flour
1/2 cup non-fat dry milk
1/3 cup vegetable oil
1 jar (3-1/4 oz.) bacon flavored pieces
1 Tbsp. firmly packed brown sugar
1 egg

Preheat oven to 300 degrees F. In a medium size bowl, dissolve the bouillon in water. Add remaining ingredients, stirring until well blended. On a lightly floured surface, use a floured rolling pin to roll out the dough to 1/8 thickness. Use a 2" cookie cutter of any design to cut out dough. Transfer the cut out dough to a greased baking sheet. Bake 30 to 35 minutes, or until firm.  Remove from oven and transfer to a wire rack to cool completely. Store in an air tight container. Yields about 6 dozen treats.

Lets not forget our feathered Friends, here is a great recipe for the poor Birds in winter,  as the suet they will use to coat their feathers for warmth too.Even as a summer treat is good!

Thank you Deenanna for the great recipe

Make these little hanging balls and watch the birds come.

Materials:
a.. 1 cup suet (ask for it in the meat department of your grocery store)
  b.. 1 cup peanut butter
  c.. 3 ½ cups cornmeal
  d.. 3-6 large pinecones
e.. 3-6 pieces of 12-inch string or ribbon
  f.. Small amount of birdseed
Instructions:
Melt the suet in a saucepan over medium heat on the stove. (Make sure an adult helps you with this part.) Add the peanut butter to the suet, stirring until it's melted and blended in with the suet. Then take the saucepan off the stove. (An adult should still be helping)

Add the cornmeal to the mixture and blend until it looks like dough. When the dough has cooled, use a spoon or your fingers to pack the dough into the openings of pinecones. Roll the dough-covered pinecones in birdseed.

Tie a string or ribbon around each of the pinecones, leaving one end long enough to tie onto a tree branch. Hang your seed ball bird treats outside and watch your hungry feathered friends eat like a bird!
