Welcome to Second Grade! I am Kim Schmidt and have been teaching at Oakland Terrace since 1997. Second grade has been my favorite grade where I see students grow independent in their reading, writing, and math skills. Besides teaching, I enjoy music, reading mysteries, hiking, and taking care of my cat, Tigger.
Second grade is an exciting year where students work with caterpillars, give booktalks, study authors such as Tomie dePaola and Jan Brett, and learn addition and subtraction from the single digits to four digit numbers. I am very glad to be working with your children. 2008-2009 looks like it will be a great year!
