Pax Et Bonum

Peace and all good to you from the friars of The Order of Saint Francis. We hope that you find this site informative and helpful. If you do not find what you are looking for, please feel free to contact us with your questions.

The Order of Saint Francis (OSF) is one of many active Apostolic Christian Orders of the Episcopal Church in communion with the See of Canterbury.  Rather than a communal monastic order, OSF members live independently in different parts of the country, with ministry based on the needs of the local community. Members are baptized men who have been confirmed within the Anglican Communion who voluntarily commit to live by a set of professed vows for a term of years or for life.

To get a better understanding of who we are please visit the "Vocation" and "Brothers" section.

Profession Ceremony - 2008

In November Kris Wilder and Alan Spurgeon, both novices, took their first profession of vows into the community.  Br Zane Young took his life vows at the same time.  The ceremony took place at St Mark's Cathedral on November 13th.  In attendance were members from the Poor Clair Sisters, Ecumenical Benedictines and Brotherhood of Saint Gregory in addition to many clergy, family and friends.

Oregon diocese names Sanford Hampton as assisting bishop

By Pat McCaughan, April 16, 2008
[Episcopal News Service] The Rt. Rev. Sanford Hampton will begin serving as assisting bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Oregon on Friday, April 18, according to Mary Cramer, president of the eight-member diocesan standing committee.

"We want him to have a very strong pastoral presence in the diocese and I think his background and his personality lend him to do that beautifully," Cramer said.

"Bishop Hampton will be in our diocese a couple of weeks each month," she added. "His primary responsibilities will be for that all-important 'pastoral presence' with visitations, confirmations, ordinations, relationship with clergy and laity, and clergy supervision as duties."
