Once Saved, not always Saved: Eternal Security Myth
Verses misread as being eternal security:
For I am sure that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor might, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord."-- Romans 8:31-39
And I give them life everlasting; and they shall not perish for ever, and no man shall pluck them out of my hand.--John 10:28
These things I write to you, that you may know that you have eternal life, you who believe in the name of the Son of God.--1 John 5:13 **Don't sin, when you do sin you know you DON'T have eternal life.
Problem with these, they both show EXTERNAL powers, humans and demons etc, the only way to be separated from God or leave His Hand is by SINNING, men themselves cannot make you lose your salvation unless you let them by sinning as the rest of this page shows.
"All that the Father gives me will come to me; and him who comes to me I will not cast out.--John 6:37 ** Comes to me in the Greek is not a one time event it continues in the future, many of the argument in rest John 6 are the result of assuming its a one time action (aorist), which it is not.
Verses regarding King David's Romans 4:8--"Blessed is the man whose sin the Lord does not record." *St Paul refering to King David 1 Samuel 13:14--.."The LORD has sought out a man after his own heart and has appointed him commander of his people, because you broke the LORD'S command."**shows King David was justified Psalm 32:1--Of David. A maskil. Happy the sinner whose fault is removed, whose sin is forgiven. Psalm 51:6--Against you alone have I sinned; I have done such evil in your sight That you are just in your sentence, blameless when you condemn. 2 Samuel 12:13--Then David said to Nathan, "I have sinned against the LORD." Nathan answered David: "The LORD on his part has forgiven your sin: you shall not die. Exodus 32:33--The LORD answered, "Him only who has sinned against Me will I strike out of my book." |
Revelation 2:5--"Realize how far you have fallen. Repent, and do the works you did at first. Otherwise, I will come to you and remove your lampstand from its place, unless you repent." <--Christ tells a church to repent
Revelation 3:4--However, you have a few people in Sardis who have not soiled their garments; they will walk with me dressed in white, because they are worthy.
Revelation 3:5-- '"The victor will thus be dressed in white, and I will never erase his name from the book of life but will acknowledge his name in the presence of my Father and of his angels."
Revelation 19:8--She was allowed to wear a bright, clean linen garment." The linen represents the righteous deeds of the holy ones. **Shows what a clean garment means--WORKS
Revelation 20:15-- Anyone whose name was not found written in the book of life was thrown into the pool of fire.**Demonstates the book of life is the book of those who are SAVED
Revelation 3:19-- "Those whom I love, I reprove and chastise. Be earnest, therefore, and repent."
Ezekiel 3:18-21--If I say to the wicked man, You shall surely die; and you do not warn him or speak out to dissuade him from his wicked conduct so that he may live: that wicked man shall die for his sin, but I will hold you responsible for his death. If, on the other hand, you have warned the wicked man, yet he has not turned away from his evil nor from his wicked conduct, then he shall die for his sin, but you shall save your life. If a virtuous man turns away from virtue and does wrong when I place a stumbling block before him, he shall die. He shall die for his sin, and his virtuous deeds shall not be remembered; but I will hold you responsible for his death if you did not warn him. When, on the other hand, you have warned a virtuous man not to sin, and he has in fact not sinned, he shall surely live because of the warning, and you shall save your own life.
Philippians 2:12--Wherefore, my dearly beloved, (as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but much more now in my absence,) with fear and trembling work out your salvation
Mark 13:13--But he that shall endure unto the end, he shall be saved.
Matthew 24:13--But he that shall persevere to the end, he shall be saved.
Matthew 7:21-24 -- "Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father in heaven. Many will say to me on that day, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name? Did we not drive out demons in your name? Did we not do mighty deeds in your name?' Then I will declare to them solemnly, 'I never knew you. Depart from me, you evildoers.' **Again faith without works are dead, good works as opposed to evil are needed to stay in grace, Christians CAN be damned for their evil works. Sins are one way to deny Christ before others, and therefore He will deny you--"But whoever denies me before others, I will deny before my heavenly Father." (Matthew 10:33) Deny you by not accepting a prophet, righteous man...acts of charity, or not "carrying your cross."
Matthew 22:11-14---But when the king came in to meet the guests he saw a man there not dressed in a wedding garment. He said to him, 'My friend, how is it that you came in here without a wedding garment?' But he was reduced to silence. Then the king said to his attendants, 'Bind his hands and feet, and cast him into the darkness outside, where there will be wailing and grinding of teeth.' Many are invited, but few are chosen." **Showing you CAN accept the gospel and come to the feast and you will STILL be rejected for being because they do not do GOOD DEEDS and more importantly repent of their sins. The man questioned by the King did not answer why he was not dressed in the wedding garment. Sinners go to hell.
1 John 3:8-10-- Whoever sins belongs to the devil, because the devil has sinned from the beginning. Indeed, the Son of God was revealed to destroy the works of the devil. No one who is begotten by God commits sin, because God's seed remains in him; he cannot sin because he is begotten by God. In this way, the children of God and the children of the devil are made plain; no one who fails to act in righteousness belongs to God, nor anyone who does not love his brother.**shows how to lose salvation again--bad works
1 John 3:17--If someone who has worldly means sees a brother in need and refuses him compassion, how can the love of God remain in him? **rich man who does not give alms does not have the love of God in him (anymore)
1 Thessolonians 5:8--But let us, who are of the day, be sober, having on the breastplate of faith and charity, and for a helmet the hope of salvation. **HOPE, not assurance
1 Corinthians 9:24-27 --Do you not know that the runners in the stadium all run in the race, but only one wins the prize? Run so as to win. Every athlete exercises discipline in every way. They do it to win a perishable crown, but we an imperishable one. Thus I do not run aimlessly; I do not fight as if I were shadowboxing. No, I drive my body and train it, for fear that, after having preached to others, I myself should be disqualified. **clearly St Paul did not believe in eternal security otherwise WHY DID HE WRITE THIS??? OSAS people insist that the race is OVER, when it barely has just begun, they have no fear of being disqualified as the Blessed St. Paul did! The word for disqualify can mean REJECTED and CASTAWAY.
1 Corinthians 13:13-- And now there remain faith, hope, and charity, these three: but the greatest of these is charity.
2 Peter 2:20-22--For if they, having escaped the defilements of the world through the knowledge of (our) Lord and savior Jesus Christ, again become entangled and overcome by them, their last condition is worse than their first. For it would have been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness than after knowing it to turn back from the holy commandment handed down to them. What is expressed in the true proverb has happened to them, "The dog returns to its own vomit," and "A bathed sow returns to wallowing in the mire." **Again shows the way to lose salvation is SIN, since you knew the truth and rejected it by sinning you are worse off than those who never knew the truth
1 Corinthians 6:9-10, 18--Do you not know that the unjust will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators nor idolaters nor adulterers nor boy prostitutes nor sodomites nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor robbers will inherit the kingdom of God..... Avoid immorality. Every other sin a person commits is outside the body, but the immoral person sins against his own body.**St Paul lists sins that will cause damnation and says that is they way you used to be, then he reminds them NOT to go back to immorality otherwise they will be outside the BODY. St Paul in 19 says since Christ gave His Body for us, the least we can do is give our Body for Him.
Hebrews 3:12--Take care, brothers, that none of you may have an evil and unfaithful heart, so as to forsake the living God.
Revelation 22:19--and if anyone takes away from the words in this prophetic book, God will take away his share in the tree of life and in the holy city described in this book.**Gee, sounds like a threat to lose salvation, Can God do that?! Someone one tell OSAS people that John the Divine hasn't read the gospel of the Reformers..

Response to "rebuttals"
Statement: Ezekiel 18 does not apply since it speaks of a persons own "righteousness."
Answer: This person is trying to apply St Paul's language to Ezekiel, as proof that is claim does not apply to Ezekiel--Ezekiel 18:20..."..the righteousness of the righteous shall be upon himself, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon himself"
Conclusion: Eternal security for the large part is a myth, but this does not rule out the possiblity that God will give someone a divine revelation of their salvation, but this is extremely rare and few people are given such revelation so it is foolish for a man to belive they have eternal security, when the Bible clearly demonstrates men can be BLOTTED out of the Book of Life, become a Branch cut off, can lose faith, do evil works, and be taken away. Eternal security as it exists in modern day sects is absolutely unbiblical and stems from poor bible reading, the "sola fide" belief and pride (believing a man cannot fall).
