Orlando was born in Canterbury, Kent on January 13, 1977. Orlando was named after a character in a book. After realizing that Superman was an actor he decided that is what he wanted to be. He got his first memorable apperance on the 1997 movie Wilde. After Wilde when he moved to London, England to study Drama. He attended the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. There he preformed in plays like "Little Me", "A Month in the City", "Peer Gynt", "Mephisto", "Twelfth Night", "Trojan Women", "The Seagull", "Three Sisters", "Recruiting Officer", "Antigone", "Uncle Vanya", "A Night Out" and "Mystery Plays". While he was still in school he audition for the part of Faramir in Peter Jacksons movie The Lord of the Rings. He did not get the part but then auditioned for the part of Legolas. One day before graduating he had found out he had go the part. After making all of the Lord of the Rings movies he played a small part in Ridley Scott's Black Hawk Down. After that he has bee working on projects non-stop! Four of his movies will be released in 2003: Pirates of the Caribbean, The Calcium Kid, The Kelly Gang, and Return of the King. In 2004 his Movie Troy will be released. When Orlando is not working he divides his time between London and Los Angeles.

Orlando Plays Rentboy in the Film Wilde (1997)
In The Lord of the Rings Trilogy Orlando plays an Elf named Legolas who travels with the Fellowship to help destroy The One Ring and fight against the Evil Froces of Middle Earth! (Fellowship of the Ring - 2001, The Two Towers - 2002, Return of the King - 2003)
In Black Hawk Down Orlando Plays Todd Blackburn. When trying to get out of a helicopter a missol hits and he falls onto his back and is knocked out! His fellow troops take him back to home base! He does not die! (also on the DVD they have an alternate ending where Josh Hartnett's Character is talking to him!) (2002)
In Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl Orlando Plays a Blacksmith named Will Turner who Joins Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) to save his beloved Elizabeth (Keira Knightly). He then becomes a pirate and fights agains Captin Barbossa (Geoffrey Rush) and his crew. (2003)
In the Kelly Gang (Ned Kelly) Orlando Bloom Plays Joe Bryne who joins a gang with Ned Kelly (Heath Ledger). These four robbed a bank and hijacked an entire town for 3 days. They killed three policemen who were hunting them. They then took over a pub in Glenrowan, where they basically held a party, waiting for a train full of police to derail at a part of the track that they tore up. However a school teacher warned the train, so the gang and all the others in the pub ended up in a shootout with scores of policemen. (2004)
In Troy Orlando Plays The Prince Paris of Troy. In the year 1193 before Christ, the prince Paris of Troy stole the beautiful Helen (Diane Kruger) away from her husband Menelaus, the king of Sparta, setting the two nations at war with each other. All the Greek entire armada come to the city of Troy and begun a bloody siege that lasted over ten years, with the Greek forces led by Achilles (Brad Pitt) and the Trojan forces. (2004)
In The Calcium Kid Orlando plays Jimmy who is a British milkman with a skeleton strengthened by the enormous quantity of milk that he drinks. When the leading British contender breaks his hand on Jimmy's jaw, Jimmy is asked to replace him in a title bout in his home town fighting the U.S. champ. (2004)
Orlando is Staring in a new movie called "Kingdom of Heaven," an epic love story. Orlando will play a peasant who becomes a knight, saves a kingdom and falls in love with the princess of Jerusalem. (2005)
In Haven Orlando Plays Shy. Haven takes place over the course of a weekend where two businessmen flee to the Cayman Islands to avoid prosecution government. Their escape ignites a chain reaction that leads Sky (Bloom), a British native, to commit a crime. (2004)

Orlando plays Drew Baylor in Elizabethtown. After causing the Oregon shoe company he works for to lose hundreds of millions of dollars, Drew Baylor is fired for his mistake, and promptly also dumped by his girlfriend, Ellen. - He used to smoke, but quit in 2002, which caused him to start biting his nails.
- While filming Lord of the Rings in New Zealand, he got into sky diving, bungee jumping, paragliding, surfing and snowboarding. Now he enjoys just taking time to walk. most of the time he just likes to hang out with friends
- He enjoys photography, shopping and buying old antiques, and he "HATES computers".
- He says he's accident prone, INJURY LIST: He's broken his back, his ribs, his nose, both his legs, his arm, his wrist, a finger and a toe, and cracked his skull three times!
- A year before doing the Lord of the Rings, he fell 3 stories off a friend's porch while trying to open a jammed door and broke his back. He was almost confined to a wheelchair, but luckily the doctors were able to fix him up. .

Their fighting is based on ancient European and Asian martial arts, so I had a trainer who taught me how to use the blades.
