Operation Caribou

Our Mission Statement
Operation Caribou is a Nationwide Environmental Protection Movement. Our primary goal is to prevent the drilling of oil in the Alaska National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR). In doing this we hope to protect one of the three remaining mating grounds for Caribou in the Northern Hemisphere. Our secondary goal is to teach communities about renewable energy resources, and encourage there use.
The History of Operation Caribou
Operation Caribou began at the Chewonki Foundation's summer camp called Camp Chewonki. It was a fun activity to raise awareness about the growing storm of politics surounding ANWR, and how the caribou would suffer if politicians tore up the Refuge looking for oil. We decided it would be a good organization to bring outside of camp, and so I was elected to carry on Operation Caribou.
