PYE R32.  This radio dates from around 1960 and is quite unusual in that although it looks like a valve set, it is in fact a battery powered transistor model. Price new was 28 guineas. ( 1 guinea = £1.05 )

BUSH VTR103.  This classic design (still available today), started out as the valve MB60 in 1957. It became the transistorized TR82 in 1959. This model was introduced around 1961 and has a VHF band.

DANSETTE 222.  Transistor portable from c.1960. The Dansette name is better known for "suitcase" type record players.

FERGUSON 382U. Introduced 1956.

BAIRD 244.  c.1961.  Transistor portable.

EVER READY CAR PORTABLE.  1960. This set was designed for use in or out of the car. Price in 1960 was £27 12s 3d.
