CLUB RULES

OLD MONMOTHIANS BOAT CLUB

  1. Purpose:

The purpose of the OMBC is to provide an opportunity to the members to meet, socialise and race with each other and to provide members with a continuing link to the waters on which they learnt to row and to the School rowing club.

It is also the purpose of the club to promote Welsh rowing and to provide a network of contacts to the recent alumni of Monmouth School to provide them with advice/assistance in continuing their rowing careers.

The principle competitive events will be the regattas of the late May and August Bank Holiday Weekends.

  1. Spiritual Home:

For the above the purpose, the club, although sometimes administered from elsewhere and with its members dispersed across the world, hereby declares that its home is the waters of the Wye at Monmouth and is therefore affiliated to the Welsh Amateur Rowing Association and aims to promote Welsh rowing.

  1. Colours:

The club colours are chocolate and white and will display the school’s “lion” badge in recognition of our alma mater.

The current racing kit is in the form of zephyrs which may be worn over the member’s current club’s all-in-one/shorts in recognition of their loyalty to that club.

  1. Membership:

Social Membership is open to all past pupils of Monmouth School and to current or past Masters of Monmouth School. Past pupil is defined as a pupil who has completed their fifth year of education at Monmouth School.

Full members are those who have raced in OMBC colours during the year. Full members revert to social members should they not compete for the club in the following year.

Full membership may be temporary granted to other rowers, displaying the same ethos and skill as OMBC members, who have been nominated by current members to the Captain in so far as any OMBC crew racing contains at least 50% full members, who will thus enable the full members to fulfil their aims.
