INSTRUCTIONS:
To install:
1. Run the .EXE and choose where to put the install files.
2. DON'T PANIC! you don't need 25 floppy disks...
3. Go in the Disk 1 folder and click Setup
4. Follow the instructions.
This WILL NOT work in Dos or Windows 3.11
This software also includes one of my favorite easter eggs.
The Hall of Tortured Souls
In Excel 95, the programmers put an almost video game like sequence into the programing for credits.
If you haven't heard of it, then I suggest you download it for no other reason then to see this easter egg.
To get to the easter egg, here are the steps:
First of all, if you have a modern computer (processor 1 gHz or above) you must slow down the computer or it will be IMPOSSIBLE to run the Hall of Tortured Souls.
I don't recommend it, but you can use a third party slowdown program compatible with your OS.
What I would do is run a LOT of programs, get the media player going, run some videos, goto a game site and get a flash game running, scan with your antivirus program, as much as you can until it takes forever to open anything (but dont get it so slow your computer freezes and crashes. Every computer is different, but basically I would recommend running the Windows Media Player with a song playing, scanning your computer with antivirus, and getting a YouTube video or something playing. If you need it slower, run more things.)
Now In Excel:
1. Open a new file
2. Scroll down to row 95
3. Click on the row 95 button to select the entire row
4. Press tab to move to the second column
5. With your mouse, click on Help, then click on About Microsoft Excel
6. Press ctrl-alt-shift and click on the Tech Support button simultaneously
7. A window will appear with the title, The Hall of Tortured Souls. The hall looks like a scene form DOOM. Using your keyboard, move around the chamber. On the wall you will see endless lists of names scrolling on the walls under the heading "Tortured Souls."
8. Go to the flight of stairs, walk up the stairs, then come back down and position your cursor in front of the blank wall. Type in EXCELKFA.
9. The blank wall will open to reveal a secret passage. Move carefully down the passage, be careful not to go over the edge. At the end of the passage a terrible secret will be revealed to you. (don't worry if you can't get it the first time, it took me 30 tries)
