Well, Inca is in the 7th day of her first proper season, not bad for a 4 year old eh, she had had silent seasons all her life, the vet told me it meant she wasnt ovulating and so I had resigned myself to the fact that Inca would never be bred from. However, a few months ago, I was reading an american book on breeding bitches and saw an article saying that certain medications for skin problems can, in some cases, cause infertility. Inca had suffered from bad skin since puppyhood and had been having 6 monthly injections. Since my move to Ireland 18 months ago, Inca has been fine so hasnt needed any treatment, lo and behold, she has suddenly started seasons.

A warning about leaving collars on yound dogs and puppies, Sasha, belonging to a lovely young couple, tragically strangled herself after catching her collar on the gate in her run, a tragic accident but so easily avoided, i have heard of Breakaway collars that snap open if any weight or force is put on them, for lead walking, they have a double D ring. I personally never have collars on my dogs except when out walking, but I know, its unavoidable in some circumstances. Run Free at the Bridge sweet Sasha xxx
