A Brief history of OKKO Karate Jutsu
OKKO Karate Jutsu was formed in the June of 2005 by Sensei`s Malcolm McClure and Nigel Lee, its aim was simple, to form an organisation that cared more for the art of of Self-Protection than it did about the cost. To bring an existing style of Martial Art (Wado-Ryu) and add to it with the best techniques from Kickboxing,Aikido,Judo,Boxing,Kung-Fu and Kyusho or Pressure points. By adding all the various techniques from proven Styles of Martial Arts to our own we were able to create OKKO Karate Jutsu, or "Open Karate Kickboxing Organisation" The Open wording meant that we was not going to commit ourselves to just one style, the karate was the Foundations of where we started and wanted to remain faithful to the "Way" of Karate, the Kickboxing was to give students the chance to fight/spar with no limitations in stances or techniques, OKKO was later to be re-named OKKO Karate Jutsu as we was very rapidly becoming a pragmatic and hollistic style utilising ground techniques,Throws and locks.
In the November of 2006 both Sensei`s Malcolm and Nigel enrolled on a course under the instruction of Sensei Iain Abernethy 5th Dan BCA and author of such Martial Art books as Bunkai Jutsu,Karate`s Grappling Methods and many more and also many DVD`s on Bunkai Jutsu or Applied Karate, held over a weekend in Carlisle, Sensei Iian`s approach enthuased both Sensei Malcolm and Nigel as it was a subject they had applied a lot of thought to, the real reason behind the Kata`s.
At the end of this exhausting and very helpful course both Sensei`s Malcolm And Nigel were presented with there Instructors certificates and recomendation from Sensei Iain.
We were both now ready to really give OKKO Karate Jutsu a go, and with this in mind set a date for OKKO`s first held seminar, inviting Martial Artists from all over the country to attend for £1 each, this was booked in for December the 16th, tragically the seminar never took place as on the 11th December 2006 Sensei Malcolm McClure was involved in a fatal Motorcycle accident and very sadly lost his life.
