MESSAGE FROM THE CHAIRMAN

Another season goes by and yes another message from me but this time you will not have to see my happy face!!!!

First of all i am sorry for not attending but unfortunately I am about 6000 miles away thinking of you all having a great evening especially as we have alot to celebrate with the 3rds winning the double and the introduction of the Old Kingsburians hall of fame

As usual I would just like to thank a few

First of all the 4 managers Martin & Ozzie, Ganesh, Rob & Ben  and Rob who all did a fantastic job throughout the season

Congratulations again to the thirds-winners of the league and first time in our history the club have won an AFA cup

Fantastic!

Commiserations to the 2nds and 4ths

Thank you Jezzer as club captain keeping things together behind the scenes

Ernie for organising the fixtures and refs

And a big thank you to Steve Lovejoy –without him the club just would not survive-

Our referees Rob, Tony and Tom-we do not appreciate how good these guys are until you play teams who have one of their mates refereeing wearing a t shirt and jeans and no whistle!-then you know you are in for a struggle

Rob for organising tonight and Gerard and Mr Finn for the venue

You the players who turn up week in week out and pay to play-the loyal old kings player-thank you

But what we want to do is weed out those who continually take advantage of the club-who short change us

These people are not going to be welcomed

And finally to the hall of fame

The committee decided after our 75th anniversary seeing so many old faces!! – that we would try and continue this by introducing the old kings hall of fame

For the first of we hope many we had invited 12 ex players who we felt contributed to the club not only as a committee member but a valued loyal member of the club-the award does not necessarily go to the best player either, who played for the 1st

Some of these were members of the bottom team but were equally valuable to the club-so James Harte in 50 years time you can also be a member!

Tonight we are going to introduce to the hall of fame

Chris Van Dyk-our president, ex chairman, no nonsense ex centre back for the 1st when we were in the premier div and author of the book “if in doubt hoof it out”

Graham East-a regular player of the 4th x1 and was still playing for old kings until his mid 50’s

Chid Middleton-skilful midfield player and manager of a number of teams from the 6ths right through to the 1st-holds the record of transporting a whole football team in his taxi to away games!

Congratulations to all of you

Finally have a great evening

Thinking of you all

Kind regards

Micky Berg
