3:30-4:00 pm Santa's visit and pictures with Santa.
4:00 OIWC's completion of Service

We will need your assistance plating food for the severely handicapped guests.  The Christmas party will feature a visit from Santa Clause, music, and food.  If you would like to bring bags of chips and a side dish or desserts to share we will be hosting about 150 patients.  I am told that we can never have enough chips.  Our friends love chips and are very sad when we run out.  Pizza and macaroni and cheese will be provided by OIWC and so will punch and the paper products. Unless the patients are finished with their meal and request for us to remove their plates we will not be bussing the tables.  The bussing of tables will be taken care of by the staff at 5:00 pm.  We are simply plating and serving the food.  When you arrive at 2:30 please report to the kitchen area for your apron and briefing.  A famous pop artist by the name of Stevie will be performing from 4-5 pm and you are more than welcomed to stay for this performance but are not obligated to work the remaining hour of the party.

I realize this is only 2 days from Thanksgiving but this was the only date that our POC could reserve the room.  Please remember that your Japanese counterparts do not have a huge holiday to prepare for and so they may be the logical choice when representing your culture group.  The bottom line is is that I do not want you to feel overwhelmed or guilty if you have other obligations to tend to.  I just need to get an idea of how much support I am to expect at this event.  Culture group leaders, if you can do me a favor and contact both sides of your group and get a head count of how many will be able to participate and get back to me that would be great. Culture group leaders and board members when you reply with a head count I will give you driving directions.

December 3rd- Ohana House Welfare Facility in Gushikawa

Culture group 5 is assigned to assist.  This facility was opened by a mother of a severely autistic child.  She provides a daycare service and educational services for other parents with children who suffer from a physical or mental handicap. We will decorate their small play room for the Holidays from 10-12 that morning.  If you have any Holiday decorations to donate (perhaps you are upgrading decorations) etc please bring those.  For safety reasons we can tape decoration up as opposed to tacking them as tacks pose choking and other possible injuries.  The facility is a temporary trailer and so stapling may not be possible.

We will be meeting at the Jusco at 9:45 am in Gushikawa to carpool/caravan over to the small facility.  Those of you who wish to donate Christmas decorations or know of anyone who would like to donate Christmas decorations for this cause please bring these items on that day. Culture group leader please contact me with a head count and I will provide you with driving directions to the meeting point.

Donations needed for the Ohana Welfare Facility:
  • Outdoor play equipment (I.e. slide)
  • trampoline
