Ashley can currently be seen starring opposite Zac Efron in the original movie musical, “High School Musical,” directed and choreographed by Kenny Ortega. The film premiered in January 2006 and was the highest rated telecast in Disney Channel history. Ashley
made music history by being the first female artist to ever debut with two songs simultaneously on the Billboard Hot 100 chart (“Bop To The Top” and “What I’ve Been Looking For,” both duets with co-star Lucas Grabeel from the RIAA triple-platinum certified “High School Musical” soundtrack).

Ashley has currently recorded her debut album for Warner Bros. Records, "Headstrong". Her new version of “Kiss The Girl” is featured on the special edition DVD of “The Little Mermaid.”
Ashley’s acting credits include a featured role in the film “Donnie Darko” with Jake Gyllenhaal, Maggie Gyllenhaal and James Duval. She was a series regular on “Nathan’s Choice,” “Mayor of Oyster Bay” and “The Howie Mandel Pilot,” and had recurring roles on “The George Lopez Show,” “Still Standing” and “The Hughleys.” Guest star roles include

Manager Bill Perlman, who continues to represent her today, discovered Ashley at the age of three in her hometown mall in Monmouth County, NJ. After booking the first audition she was sent out on, Ashley went on to star in over 100 national network commercials. At the age of eight she booked a leading role in the national tour of the Broadway musical “Les Miserables.” She then toured internationally with the cast of “Annie.”
When Ashley isn’t pursuing her acting career, her passions include singing (she sang at the White House at the age of 12), shopping, and hanging out with her friends and sister Jennifer, who is also an actress.

Lisa and Ty welcome their first guest, Ashley Tisdale, who stars as Sharpay Evans in Disney Channel's hit movie, High School Musical, as well as playing Maddie on The Suite Life of Zack and Cody. Lisa asks Ashley about being part of the huge phenomenon that is High School Musical. Ashley says that she's actually been in show business since she was three years old, so she doesn't see herself as an "overnight success." When they were filming the movie, they never expected it to be as big as it was. In addition to their pleasant surprise when the movie was such a success, they were totally shocked when the soundtrack album hit the Billboard charts.
Ty asks Ashley when she realized that High School Musical was a phenomenon; for Ashley, it was when she saw her name up on the billboards. Speaking of "Billboards," it turns out that Ashley is the first female artist in history to have two debut singles on the Billboard 100 at the same time, which blows her away. Ashley's always had a love of music, having toured with Les Miserables when she was eight years old.
So what's next for Ashley? She can't reveal too much about the sequel, since it's just being written right now. What she can say is that her and her co-stars will all be returning, and they should begin filming in either the fall, or January. Ashley's also recently signed with Warner Brothers to record her own solo album.
Ty asks Ashley about Maddie, her character on The Suite Life of Zack and Cody, and how she's so different than High School Musical's Sharpay. Turns out Ashley had a task ahead of her, convincing the powers that be that she could shift gears and play the mean girl. When Ashley's manager pushed her for the role of Sharpay, the casting people weren't sure that she was right for the part, having played hardworking girl next door Maddie. Ashley then had one night to learn one of the hardest songs, one that everyone else had a week to prepare for, and she had a six hour test, having to perform a dance for the producers. Dancing was a bit of a challenge for Ashley, who describes herself as always being the "uncoordinated dancer." Fortunately, choreographer Kenny Ortega sent them to "dance boot camp" to turn them into great dancers.
Ashley says that the cast all got along like siblings ? all the touring together has been a huge bonding experience for them. Ty asks Ashley if she would have ever done American Idol, and Ashley says she always wanted to know what Simon Cowell would have said about her. Ashley got her chance to find out when she met the curmudgeonly Cowell. To her surprise, Simon said he loved High School Musical, and he loved her part.
Lisa asks Ashley how she enjoys working on The Suite Life of Zach and Cody. Ashley says she's the "Lucille Ball" of the show, and loves doing all the physical comedy. On one episode, she had to dress up like a guy ? the episode that happened to feature Jesse McCartney as a guest star. An excited Ashley met Jesse, but unfortunately, she was decked out head-to-toe as a guy, moustache and all. Ashley says that when she finally got to take her moustache off, she felt like the most beautiful girl ever. Ty cracks that Lisa feels the same way when she takes off her moustache!
Ty wants to know how Ashley became known as the "Spirit Leader" on the set of The Suite Life of Zack and Cody. Ashley explains that she would always do a safety speech for the crew on Suite Life, and she'd finish with a cheerleader jump. Ashley told the story to a cheerleader magazine (she used to do Pop Warner cheerleading to follow in her mother and sister's footsteps), and the rest is history.
Ty asks Ashley if it's true that she was discovered in a Jersey mall. Ashley says she was three years old, being taken around by her mother in her stroller. She was spotted by the manager that she still has to this day. Before long, she was doing commercials and modeling. By age eight, she wanted to go out for Les Miserables, despite never having sung before. Ashley says she took two vocal lessons, but it was enough; she had a "natural voice" and they trained her on tour. These days, she's training with vocal coach to the stars, Eric Vetro.
Ty asks Ashley about the time she sang at a Christmas party at the White House for President Clinton. Ashley says it was a funny scene when she arrived ? she'd brought a pillow on the train to sleep on, and the secret service saw her arrive with the pillow and asked her if she planned on sleeping there.
Lisa asks Ashley what it's like to have so many young fans all of the sudden. Ashley is flattered by all the attention, and tells about the time she met Brittany Murphy at an awards show. Ashley always looked up to Brittany, and when they met, Brittany couldn't have been nicer, giving Ashley advice and support. Ashley says that's the type of person she wants to be, where fans can approach them and is able to have a great conversation.
Ashley credits her parents for helping her keep grounded with all her success. She says they made her work retail during high school, even after years of growing up in show business. Ashley admits that she didn't like it at the time, but she appreciates it now.
