Welcome to the spectacularly spotty world of Zayenah Ocicats, we are Australian breeders with a small cattery located south of Adelaide, South Australia, specialist breeders of enchanting Ocicats registered with FASA and GCCFSA.  Home of 2007, 2008 & 2009 FASA Ocicat exhibits of the year and GCCFSA Ocicat exhibit of the year 2009. Ocicats are very energetic, outgoing, rare, social, intelligent, cheeky and naughty, not to mention gorgeous! Our breeding prefix means Beautiful, the purrfect way to describe Ocicats.

Ocicats (pronounced Oss-e-cat), or Oci's were named by the original breeders daughter after the Ocelots they resemble, Oci's are the wild looking cat with NO wild blood. Ocicats are actually 100% domestic - created in the 1960's from Abyssinians and Siamese , the American Shorthair was brought in for the silver colouring. Ocicats are still very rare in Australia, there are few Oci breeders in Australia. Ocicats walk like they are stalking in the jungle and have a gorgeous wild looking pattern. As they have very short coats, they require very little grooming a quick comb once a week is all that's needed. Ocis have a sweet, loving temperament - they only look wild.

The Ocicat coat pattern is unique, stunning thumb print shaped spots all over the body, forming a bullseye on the sides.
Their short satiny coat requires very little grooming. A quick brush every now and then is all that's needed. Ocicat kittens go through a fuzzy kitten fur stage, which drops out to reveal their lovely short satin coat by 12 weeks.

Ocicats are large, well muscled cats. Females range in size from 3-5kg, males 6-8kg or larger. They are usually fully grown by 18-24 months.

Ocicats come in 12 gorgeous colours. Tawny, Chocolate, Cinnamon, Fawn, Blue & Lavender.  And their dilutes each with silver - black silver, chocolate silver, cinnamon silver, fawn silver, blue silver, lavender silver.

Ocicats are very active, and often described as dog like. Oci's are extremely intelligent, very social cats, they like to be where the action is and will usually follow room to room to see what's happening. Very friendly and outgoing, mine all greet visitors at the door. Ocicats are fun to be around, they will enchant you with their antics.

Oci's are wonderful around children, we have some young nephews who play with our cats and kittens. The kids smoosh their faces into the Oci's, pick them up, wheel them in a stroller, the Ocicats take it all in stride and are extra gentle with our nephews.

Ocicats get along well with other cats, dogs and other animals.

Along with our breeding cats we also own 3 desexed Oci's, which is how we got involved in the breed. We enjoy cat shows and have shown all our Ocicats, many people don't realise that desexed cats can be shown, so can non-pedigreed Moggies. Cat shows are a great way to meet other like minded people, learn more about cats and have a fun day out. Links to cat show details can be found on our Upcoming Shows page.
