OceanRiver's Vision

OceanRiver is about community and connectivity. Overall OceanRiver is an idea that we can create a more perfect society by creating more perfect communities. We envision small towns and villages dotting the landscape with each town and village making almost everything they need. Around the towns is the plain natural landscape. Where the designated town limits end and the wilderness begins. This system acknowledges that though humans have been fighting with nature for thousands of years, it is a war we can not afford to win. There would be nobody besides farmers outside the town limits. The towns, villages, and cities are concentrated with in their limits. Basically State (or Town) Structured Development.  This is where development is planned accordinly to effiency and health (people and evironmently)

This new vision requires a great community. People need to love the land they live on. Not because the land belongs to them but because they belong to the land. OceanRiver’s environmental vision is in its simplest way to let the river do as the river does. Basically this means to let nature take care of it self, don’t interfere. We don’t need to count the bobcat population, or the loon populations every year. What we need to count is the human population. The reason these creatures are endangered is not because there are so few of them but because there are too many of us and that we have a greater affect on the world than we perceive. If creatures are given their space, a clean environment, and protection from disrespectful people, they can take care of themselves. The land outside the town limits would not be owned or stewarded by anyone. The land would be under the jurisdiction of the state but no house or people live their. You must remember countries and laws are boundaries created by the people for the people. And the people only need to administrate over their own.
The vision would also call for a public transportation system no matter how rural, if there are people there then the buses will go there. All products that are made must be either environmental biodegradable or service reusable; meaning the company will take it apart and reuse every part. Also the plan calls for a halt to globalization as it is harmful to local population in the long run. As we cultivate a new image of a sustainable planet we hope that the close proximity we have with mother nature will provoke us to create a strong community which will then reorganize our lives into less robust and hectic patterns.

OceanRiver is in support of small governance. This does not been that we don't support federally funded education system or universal health care. What it does mean is that there is should be more power for local authorities to make the changes they which to make. It is easier for the people to check the government if the government is on a human scale. For example it is easier to watch the movement of the state government of California or Vermont rather than the movements of the United States.
