Adult Male
I would like to say and make it clear, everyone has their own opinions and are free to do what they want. I often hear the words “….opinions about breeding”. There is a difference between Opinion and Fact. It is my Opinion that everyone must follow Guidelines, but it is Fact that it is so risky for the Chinchilla not too.
No matter what animal it is, Rescues, Shelters, Organisations are always wishing, wanting people to be responsible with breeding, why do they say this do you think? Do they just feel like it for something to say maybe? We are the ones who see the affects from people not following Breeding Guidelines, we are the ones that are working behind the scene cleaning up the mess that is widely ignored or not known, sadly by too many Breeders.
If you still think you don’t have too follow anything, or
wonder "why is there such a deal about it", please view the following photos of some
Chinchilla Rescues that I have had in, suffering because of people not Breeding
properly, suffering either directly or indirectly:

These 2 little darling
Rescues come into me at just over 1 week old with 1 other, all the siblings were born
with a hereditary defect not picked up by the breeder until 5 days old. After
serious consideration, leaving them they would of died, putting them to sleep
when they had so much will to live was I felt, not any reason, so it was at 2
weeks old they had to undergo an Operation to Amputate the leg, 2 legs on one
baby.
