About POA Clubs

Pony of the Americas or POAs have been around since the 1950's, with its national club starting as a small group of horse owners in the wid-west, expanding today to most of North America, with registered POAs in the US, Canada, as well as Europe. Official state clubs exist in more than 40 states from coast to coast, as well as an up and coming POA club in Germany. State clubs are grouped by region (North-east, South-west, Rocky mountain, etc.) Each year state clubs hold many POA shows, where ponies compete in several different events including halter, western and english riding, jumping and games. As well as state level competition, each region holds its own regional show where a club from the region hosts at regional level competition. However the regional shows are not excluded to members of other regions. Above regional competition is the nationally held events, where the national club hosts shows such as the Eastern and Western Classics and the International Show,  the biggest event of the showing season.

NY Club Shows

The NY club has primarily two show locations. The First Star Farm, located in scenic Niskayuna, nearly a stone throw away from the capital of NY, Albany. The second location is the fair grounds in Cobleskill, located southwest of Niskayuna, closer to the PA border at the western end of the Catskill mountains.
