Yes, the NaNo website is down

Have no fear, my budding novelists... for those of you who are not yet used to the Way Things Work, the site usually crashes on Halloween when a hundred thousend people descend on it to sign up.  They will most likely have it back up before the end of the day, when we'll be able to share fun stories on the boards, and bemoan our hangovers from the Kick-Off Party.

In the meantime, have an aspirin and drink plenty of fluids, because November's about to begin...

Rocktober

Looks like we're off to a pretty good start, peoples.  We've managed to plan the "OMG It's Still Warm" day on the last actual pleasant day of Autumn -- and for our next trick, we'll be picking the winning lottery numbers.  But you're not invited to that.  Ha-ha!

What you are invited to is a large list of New York City events!  The event calendar has been mostly updated, with a few blank spots here and there.  That's because your lovely webmaster was stricken with the plague this past week and hasn't exactly been worth much.  Unless you like snot.  Then I'm very, very useful.  Ew, okay, just grossed myself out there.

In the meantime, check out the events and make some plans to stop by.  You should also be sure to check out the Forums on the NaNoWriMo.org page to follow all the tawdry gossip and Boston-bashing fun.  Because we wouldn't be New Yorkers unless we're hating on Boston!

See you next Monday,

Selli

October? Wha-huh?

How can it be October already?  How can we be less than 30 days away from a new NaNo?  The answer:  we were drunk for most of September.  Yes, I was watching you.  I'm the mysterious friend who bought you that drink.  Wink wink.

In all seriousness, we're excited to get this year off to a great start.  Erin and I have spent the last 10 months with our fingers in our ears, pretending that we were never going to torture ourselves with writing 50,000 words in 30 days again, but then yesterday we realized how desperately we miss NaNo when it's not November.  Deep down, we really love it, and we love hanging out with all of you!  So get your pencils sharpened and put your brains on hold, because this is gonna be a fantastic year.

The Calendar of Events will be updated within the next week or so, so keep your eyes peeled for that.  It will include a few pre-NaNo dates in October, since the weather's still pretty and we should take advantage of that before the Yeti come down from the mountains and remind us just how far we live from the equator.  So check back when you can, and we look forward to seeing you all!
