1-04-08     2256     Dispatched to the area of 1456 Tomhicken Road for the MVA with a pole down. Units arrived to Find 1 Vehicle that struck a pole. Driver had fled the scene already. Units operated for approx. 2 Hours. Units O/S: L581

 

1-07-08     0408     Units were dispatched to 569 Main Street in Weston for the GARAGE FIRE. Engine 582 arrived on location and found a working fire, with heavy fire showing from the attic. 1.75 handline was placed in service and crew knocked down the fire quickly. Ladder 581 arrived and went to the roof for ventilation and assisted with Ext. and overhaul. Incident was held to a First Alarm. Units O/S: L581, E582, T585, T587, E9-10. C581 with command.

1-08-07     2012     Dispatched to 1465 Rock Glen Road for the reported HOUSE FIRE. Fire was reported in the panel box. 2nd call from County stating a working fire and the residents are refusing to leave because they are trying to remove personal belongings. Engine and Ladder arrived at the same time to find smoking showing from the residence. Entry made into a residence and the fire was quickly Ext. and the residence was ventilated and overhaul performed. The residence did use a dry chem to keep the fire contatined until the department arrival. Incident was held to a first alarm with a 2nd alarm standby. Units O/S: L581, E582, T585, T587, Sugarloaf E2, T1, Nuremberg EMS.

1-11-08     0127     Dispatched to 1218 Rock Glen Road for the MVA with injuries. C582 arrived to find 1 car into the guardrail, very minor damage. Units O/S:E582, Nuremberg EMS, Medic 26

1-12-08     1032     Dispatched to 1894 Tomhicken Road at Zacks Rock Glen Manor for an AFA. Upon signing on the air C582 was advised call is being upgraded to a Structure Box. 2nd call reported smoke coming from an emergency light possible fire in the walls. Full first alarm was requested along with the Zacks 2nd alarm on standby (see box 5). Engine 582 first arriving reported light smoke condition on the first floor, building was evacuated upon the departments arrival. Upon investigating fire was found in the emergency light. Light was removed from the wall and walls checked with no extension found. C582 had fire command and Nuremberg EMS Chief 980 had ems command. Units O/S:E582, L581, T587, Nuremberg ems, Medic 26, Sugarloaf E2, T1 cx enroute.

1-13-08     1057     Dispatched to 1920 Tomhicken Road for the reported HOUSE FIRE, reported smoke in the basement. E582 arrived on scene to find smoke showing from the rear of the residence. one 1.75 line was advanced and personnel had a quick knock on the fire once it was located in the basement. Extensive ventilation was performed by Ladder 581 along with overhaul. Units O/S:L581, E582, T585, T587, Sugarloaf E2, T1.

4-16-08     1147     Dispatched to Sheppton at the request of C582 who reported a large brush fire visible from Nuremberg. County advised forestry is also trying to locate the incident. After some investigating the fire was located about a mile off of Brandon Street on top of the Sheppton Mountain. Units Operated from approx 2 hrs. Units O/S: B584, B586, B9-40, T9-30, S9-70, B30-45, multiple forestry units. Nuremberg and Shenandoah EMS.

June 08

6-02-08     0837     Dispatched to 600 Hazle Street in Weston for the reported HOUSE FIRE, fire was reported to be a dryer in the Laundry Room. Dispatched on the first alarm was Sta. 580, District 9 STA 2 for the Engine and Tanker, Hazle Twp for the Engine, Tanker, Rescue. C581 signed on the air and reported smoke showing. Upon arrival within 5 mins of Dispatch E582 arrived and confirmed a working fire with fire visible on the first and 2nd floor and heavy smoke showing from throughout. A 2nd alarm was requested at this time however county didn't hear the request. Inital crews were meet with extreme heat and smoke in the residence. Crews lead off with 2-1.75 lines with 3 additional lines being placed in service once additional manpower was available.. Crews advancing to the 2nd floor found the staircase burned out along with most of the floor. E582's Deck gun was placed in service to knock down the 2nd floor until crews could make access. Hazle Twp Tower 105 arrived and was placed in front of the structure to continue with Ventilation. Ladder 581 was placed at the A+B Corner. Upon finding out a 2nd alarm hadn't been issued, additional apparatus was requested along with the Tanker Task Force. Approx 6 pieces of apparatus that would have been assigned to the 2nd alarm or tanker task force didn't crew. Sugarloaf E2 was assigned the fill site. E9-10, E102, R101, R12 were all placed in staging with manpower assisting on the fireground. Mcadoo Ladder 49-22 was special called to assit with overhaul. Due to the age of the building and its construction crews had a difficult time at first in extinguishment of the Fire. Once the fire ignited the attic and portions of the 2nd floor lit back off, the Tower and L581 were placed in service with there aerial master streams until all visible fire was ext and then crews reentered for complete extinguishment and overhaul. Sadly the family lost several pets and most of there personal belongings. Units O/S: E582, L581, T585, T587, E9-10, E102, TW105, R101, E12, T11, R12, Quint 49-22, Nuremberg EMS, Valley Regional Medic 26. and the following supplied additional tankers: Mahanoy City, Hometown, Treskcow, Wright Twp, Main Twp, Foster Twp, and Ringtown Valley Fire + Rescue. Crews operated on the scene for approx 5 hours. Inital crews on the first alarm did an excellent job containing the fire to one side of the home and dealing with the heat and humidty outside. 1 firefighter was transported for a minor back injury to Hazleton General.

6-15-08     2146     Dispatched to the area of Harmes Funeral Home on the Rock Glen Road for an mva with Entrapment. Reported to be 2 subjects unresponsive. C581 arrived and reported 1 pt heavily entrapped. E582 arrived and started to stabilize the vehicle and placed the Spreaders and Cutters in service followed by the Sugarload Rescue who also placed multiple tools in service. L581 responded and secured the LZ. The pt was extricated in about 20 Mins and Flown to the GMC Shock Trauma. Units O/S: E582, L581, Sugarloaf Rescue, Nuremberg EMS x 2, Medic 26 & PSP.

6-16-08     2100     Silent Alarm for the Tree Down on the Tank Road. Units O/S: C582

6-19-08     1937     Dispatched to the Nurembeg Mt for the Investigation for the possible Brush Fire. Units O/S:C581, C582

6-19-08     At approx 2300 hours the sound of gun shoots rang out in the 700 Block of Main Street. Multiple police units converged on the area and secured the scene after an unknown subject fired multiple shots out the window of his vehicle towards a residence. Within a short time later additional police units were requested to the Tomhicken Road. Turns out a motorist driving down the road was shoot at multiple times and had his vehicle hit numerous times. The subject was taken into custody. The department provided traffic control at the request of PD, shutting down Main Street.

6-20-08     0846     Dispatched to Tower Rd + Mt Rd for the MVA with reported Entrapment. The location was changed multiple times. E582 arrived to find Nescopeck Twp Engine on scene along with Sugarloaf Rescue. E582 was held in staging for the possible LZ. Pt was then transported by ground, E582 released. Incident was located in Nescopeck Twp. Units O/S:E582, L581 (LZ standby at the golf course), Nescopeck Twp Engine, Sugarloaf Rescue, Nuremberg EMS x 2, Medic 26, Micu 90, Nescopeck EMS.

6-21-08     0315     Dispatched to the area of 572 Mountain Road for the MVA with no injuries but wires down. E582 arrived on location to find the vehicle hung up in the wires and the pole sheared off. Units operated for over 6 Hours on the Scene. THANK YOU PPL!. Units O/S: E582, PSP

JULY 08

7-01-08     1255     Dispatched as part of the first alarm along with district 9 and district 30 for the Brush Fire. Incident was unfounded. Units O/S: B584, B586, B30-45

7-04-08     1648     Dispatched as part of the first alarm along with Hazle Twp and District 9 for the reported Commercial Structure Fire at 1075 Valley of The Lakes in Eagle Rock. 2nd call back reported fire out. All units were held in quarters with the exception of Hazle Twp. All apparatus was manned in quarters.

7-05-08     2100 The department provided standby coverage for the Eagle Rock Fire Works. Units O/S: E582, B586

7-12-08     1755     Dispatched to 157 Millers Road for the Wilderness Rescue as the result of a fall from a Cliff. E582 arrived to be meet by bystanders who stated a 14yr old male fell approx 60 feet. The engine Crew walked approx a 1/2 mile with the stokes and qrs equipment to find a severally injured male who fell straighte down between 50-60 Feet and was suffering from multiple fractures. Airmedical was Launched with the Engine and additional manpower going to the Red Ridge Camp Ground to Est the LZ for Medevac 7. The pt was packaged and extricated to a 4 wheel drive vehicle and then brought out to the awaiting EMS unit. Units O/S: E582, Nuremberg Ems, Shenandoah ALS

7-14-08     0646     Dispatched to the Intersection of Ringtown Road and Raricks Road for the MVA with injuries. E582 arrived to find a 2 car mva with aminor injury. Units O/S: E582, Nuremberg EMS, Shenandoah ALS

7-15-08     2141     Dispatched as part of the first alarm along with District 9, District 30, Hazle Twp Fire and West Hazleton RIT to 941 Center Street In East Union Twp. for the reported HOUSE FIRE. Chief 9-06 arrived on location and confirmed a working fire with heavy fire showing from the rear 2nd and 3rd floors of a large double. E9-10 layed a supply line from Center Street down Cranberry Alley where they placed multiple lines inservice. L581 arrived on location as the first out of town piece and picked up the Engine's Supply line. Squirt 9-20 was positioned at A side and placed 1 line inservice threw the 2nd floor. L581 also supplied them with a supply line. The L581 crew also advanced a line from the Ladder into the 3rd floor after throwing multiple ground ladders. Tower 105 positioned at the A/B corner and went to the roof. Ringtown Valley E30-10 was placed in front of 9-10. E582 was assigned to the fill site. All additional apparatus was placed in staging. The fire was knocked down and contained in about 30 mins with extensive overhaul being performed. Nuremberg units operated for about 3 hours on the scene. Units O/S:L581, E582, T585, T587, E9-10, T9-30, SQUIRT 9-20,SQ 9-70, E9-14, T9-34 E30-10, E30-11, T30-35, Hazle Twp Tower + Rescue, West Hazleton RIT (Ladder + Rescue). Nuremberg and Shenadoah EMS were also on scene and provided Rehab

While enroute the incident was unfounded at the reported location, a second call stated the accident was on the Tomhicken Road. The engine + ladder arrived at the same time to find no entrapment, 1 injury on the scene with wires down. The ladder was cut lose and established a Landing Zone at the Nuremberg Park for Life FLight 5. Units Operated for about 4 Hours. Units O/S: E582, L581, Nuremberg EMS, Medic 26.

 

8-10-08     2000     Dispatched for the Ladder at the request of C581 to the intersection of Main + Mahanoy Streets for the Lightning strike investigation. As severe storms moved threw the area, the Luthern Church had its steeple struck. L581 laddered the building and found no evidence of fire just damage to the steeple. Units operated for about 45 mins. Units O/S: L581.

8-12-08     0455     Dispatched to the area of 1465 Catawissia Creek Road for the MVA with unknown Injuries. Units O/S: E582, Nuremberg EMS.

9-30-08     0247     Dispatched on a medical assist to 661 Market Street in Weston. Request for manpower for lifting

9-30-08     1912     Dispatched to 1251 Scotch Valley Drive in Beaver Twp Columbia County for a MVA with ENTRAPMENT assiting Beaver Township. Upon arrival units found a vehicle into a garage with Multiple Injuries. 1 patient was a Class 5 on the scene and still located in the vehicle. 5 additonal patients were found outside the vehicle. Crews assisted treating and packaging all the patients. 1 Patient was FLown to Shock Trauma were he passed away a few days. The rest were transported to other local trauma centers. All of the patients were high school kids under the age of 18. Units O/S: E582, E141(Beaver Twp), E217(Main Twp), Nuremberg EMS, Bloomsburg Micu 61, Medic 1, Catawissia Amb 50.

E582 arrived on location to find the roof of the barn involved along with some extension into the building, correct address was given of Troy Lane. Fire was knocked down with 2-1.75. Due to the Remote location L581 was staged and had its manpower sent to the scene along with manpower from district 9. Units were inservice for approx. 1 Hour. Units O/S: E582, L581, T587, E9-10, T9-30, Nuremberg EMS.

11-08-08     1122     Dispatched to the Rock Glen Road for the VEHICLE FIRE. Reported to be a Tractor Trailor Fire. Upon arrival a Large debris Fire was found with extension to a trailor was found along with multiple tires burning. Fire was knocked down with one 1.75. Units were in service for about one Hour. Units O/S: E582, T585, T587, Nuremberg EMS.

11-21-08     0953     Dispatched as part of the first alarm to 297 Pine Swamp Road in Union Twp. for the HOUSE FIRE. L581 and both Tankers were due. First arriving units found a chimney fire with extension into the wall. Fire was knocked down and extensive overhaul was performed. L581 was given orders to stage and manpower sent into the building with the TIC. Units were in service for about an Hour. Units O/S: L581, T585, T587, E30-10, E9-10, T30-35, T353(columbia county), R993, Amb. 944.

11-22-08     2136     Dispatched to the area of 1101 Cedar Head Road for the MVA with FIRE. Upon arrival E582 found a 1 car mva well involved after striking a pole. Fire was Knocked down and ext. with one 1.75. The driver was uninjured. Units O/S: E582, PSP

11-26-08     1211     Dispatched to 876 Cedar Head Road for the INVESTIGATION. Reports of a light bulb smoking. Units O/S:C581

11-30-08     2023     Dispatched to 891 West County Road for the MVA. Units arrived to find a 2 car mva, truck vs. car. The truck also struck a building and 2 parked cars. all patients self extricated and uninjured. Units were released by C582. Units O/S: E582

 

December 08

12-01-08     1530     Dispatched to the area of 1177 Tomhicken Road for the MVA with Fire. While enroute units were cancelled. No fire only airbag dust. Units CX enroute: E582

12-13-08     0927     Dispatched to Sugarloaf MT Road for the STRUCTURE FIRE. Additional info then stated on Park Street in Rock Glen. Then the final location put it at the Sugarloaf Falls. County also advised of a burn victim on the scene. C581 requested that B584 be dispatched due to the remote location. E582 arrived in the area first however was unable to make it up the icy Mountain Road that was a good mile or so from the pavement. B584 arrived and transported the engine crew to the scene. The fire was found to be a hunting cabin which was already on the ground. One line from the Brush was placed in service for ext. The burn victim was checked by ems and refused. Units O/S: E582, L581, T587, B584, Sugarloaf Engine 2 and Tanker 1. Nuremberg EMS.

 

12-23-08     0557     Dispatched to the area of 734 Green Mt Road for the MVA with unknown injuries. Upon arrival nothing could be found in the area. Upon further checking the mva was found on Kunkle Hill Road in East Union Twp. Vehicle was off the road with no one around. C582 placed everyone in service. Units O/S: E582, Nuremberg EMS

12-31-08     1249     Dispatched to the Tomhicken Road near the county line for an MVA with Entrapment. Also Dispatched was Sugarloaf Fire and EMS. E582 arrived first to find a 1 car mva, car into a tree with one patient heavily Entrapped. Multiple hand and hydraulic tools were placed in service until the arrival of Sugarloaf Rescue who also placed additional tools in service. With the Engine Company and Rescue Company working together the pt was extricated and flown to shock trauma with multiple severe injuries. Units O/S: E582, Sugarloaf Rescue, Sugarloaf EMS, Nuremberg EMS, Medic 26, PSP, Sugarloaf Twp Police.
