1-03-06     1220     Dispatched to the intersection of Welsh Rd & Rock Glen Rd in Sugarloaf Township for a working structure fire. Responded as part of the 2nd alarm with E582 & T585. Due to no water supply in the area a 3rd alarm was struck for tankers now bringing units from 4 counties.The building was packed with many items along with some Hazardous Materials. E582 arrived 4th due Engine Co. and was immediately put to work. E582 operated its deck gun, 1 handline and also supplied Hazle Township Tower 105. Units opearted for over 4 1/2 hours on the scene. Units O/S; E582, T585. 3-4-06     1645    Dispatched to est a landing zone at the Eagle Rock Pool for Life Flight for a pt from a ski accident. Units O/S: E582, Nuremberg Ems, Medic 23, Hazle Twp. E102

3-6-06     0201    Dispatched to standby in station for a possible response to Interstate 80 for a Tractor Trailor fire assit Sugarloaf Twp. Units Requested: T585

3-16-06   1859     Dispatched automatic response to assit Sta. 10 with a chimney fire at 28 Jahanna Circle in Eagle Rock, E582 arrived first due with nothing showing. Homeowner stated fire coming from the top of the chimney prior to arrival, units were in service for approx 1 hr. Chief 101 had command. Unit O/S: E582, E581, T585, (T587 crewed in quarters), E9-10, E102, E103, TW 105, T106, R101, Nuremberg Ems.

3-21-06    0907     Dispatched automatic response to assit Sta. 10 with an Automatic Fire Alarm at the Spa and Fitness Center in Eagle Rock. While E582 was responding security had contacted the 911 center and stated they had smoke in the building adding tanker 585 to the box. Units arrived on location to find the source to be a unattended candle with minor extension. All Nuremberg Units were inservice for about a half hour. Units O/S: E582, T585 (cx), Sheppton E9-10, T9-30(cx), Hazle Twp Engines 102, 103, Tanker 106, Tower 105, Rescue 101, Nuremberg Ems 980 and 971.

3-29-06    1830     Dispatched to the area of the Tank Mt. for a reported brush fire. Cancelled enroute, fire was a control burn. Units O/S: E582, B584, B586, Sugarloaf E11, E13 (both cx).

3-30-06    1243     Dispatched to 246 Hilltop Dive for a reported brush fire. Units arrived on location to find a large brush fire moving quickly with the wind. A 2nd alarm was requested followed by a 3rd alarm. Most of the fire was knocked down before all mutual aid companies arrived. Units were on scene for approx 3 hours mopping up hot spots until the scene was turned over to forestry. Approx 5 acres were burned. Units O/S: E582, B584, Sugarloaf Engine 11, Tanker 11, Harwood Brush 194 & 195, Hazle Twp Utility 108, Tanker 106, Sheppton Brush 9-40. (units cancelled. APRIL 06

4-01-06     0223     Units dispatched to 2364 Scotch Valley Drive in Black Creek Twp for an mva with injuries, reported as a roll over. Units found 1 vehcile that had rolled over, driver self extricated and was transported bls to HGH. Units O/S: E582, Nuremberg Ems, PSP

4-02-06     1447     Units dispatched to 1657 Rock Glen rd for a brush fire, while responding a 2nd call the district came in for a 2nd fire on the Weston Rd. Fire was spotted by a member responding to the station for the first call. Upon arrival of units on the 2nd fire  they found a field fire with several vehicles involved. They also reported 1 man down with severe burns, pt was found to be the homeowner, after a quick assessment the patient was found to be a class 5. County Official was then notifed along with psp. First fire involved about an acre. 2nd fire involved multiple vehicles along with a field fire.  This is are 3rd Fatal brush fire in the last 10 years.

4-5-06     0905     Dispatched to 23 Gateway Road for a possible Structure Fire. 2nd alarm requested due to the time of day  Caller had reported they had smoke filling up the house after lighting the fire place. Upon arrival units found a chimney fire that was already out, light smoke in the residence.2nd alarm was cx with the exception of 1 Engine. Residence was ventilated, and checked for extension. No extension was found. Units O/S: E582, T585, T587, Sugarloaf E12, Nuremberg Ems. Units Cx. Sugarloaf Tanker 11, Hazle Twp Rescue 101, Sheppton Engine 9-10 and Tanker 9-30, West Hazleton Engine 242 and Ladder 244. Hazle Twp Tanker was due but not dispatched. And Tanker 11 respond in place of Harwood 191 which was out of service. Tanker 11 was also due but wasn't dispatched at first either.

4-07-06    1118    Dispatched to the Rock Glen Road west of the Blue Pig for a vehicle fire, request of Luzerne County. Upon arrival fire was found Ext by occupant. Units O/S E582, Nuremberg Ems 980

4-08-06    1019     Dispatched to transfer one Engine to West Hazleton Station. Units were operating on a 3 alarm commercial Structure Fire. E582 remained in West Hazleton along with Mahanoy City Engine 465 Until Approx 1530. Units O/S: E582

4-09-06    1426    Dispatched to 61 Millers Road for an MVA with injuries, arrived on location to find 2 BLS patients, Fluids Down. Units O/S: E582, Nuremberg Ems. PSP

4-20-06     1015     Dispatched for both tankers to assit Hazle Twp Fire at 29 Turnberry Lane in Eagle Rock for a Propane Leak. Reported as an underground tank which had the releif valve broken off by a piece of machinery Call was found to be in Black Creek Twp. incident was controlled when a local propane company arrived on scene. 5-04-06     2122     Dispatched to 1677 Tomhicken Road for an MVA reported as a roll over, E582 arrived on scene and found a 1 car rollover, driver self extricated and was transported BLS. Units O/S: E582, Nuremberg EMS

5-06-06     1915     Dispatched in the area of 2000 Tomhicken Road for an MVA unknown on injuries. After being unable to locate it, C582 stated its near 1000 Tomhicken RD. (4 miles in the other direction). 1 Vehicle into the guardrail, psp on scene and all units were CX. Units O/S: E582, Nuremberg EMS

5-13-06     0943     Dispatched to 4 Cherry Lane for the unknown type fire possible Tire Fire. E582 arrived and reported a rubbish fire. Units O/S: E582, T585

5-15-06     2321     Dispatched to 1500 Tomhicken Road for an MVA unknown injuries, upon arrival C581 reported a fight in progress. Vehicle had struck a parked car. No Injuries. Units O/S: E582

5-17-06     2036     Dispatched to assit Beaver Twp. in Columbia County for a reported Structure Fire. Request for 1 tanker, fire reported as a propane explosion in the residence. Cancelled Enroute. Units Cx: T585

5-17-06     2041     Dispatched to 225 Mahanoy Street on the investigation. Units O/S: T585

5-20-06     1908     Dispatched to 61 Millers Road for an MVA with ENTRAPMENT and 1 unresponsive male. Upon arriving in the area units were directed into the camp ground. Upon arrival found 1 car which struck a tree on the back side of the camp ground. No entrapment, male with head and chest trauma. airmedical was requested by EMS to the scene. E581 Handled the LZ for Pennstar 4. Units O/S: E582, E581 (LZ), Nuremberg EMS, Shenandoah ALS.

5-31-06     0033     Units were dispatched to 158 Golf Course Road at the Black Creek Methodist Church for the possible Structure Fire. E582 & T587 were on the street when a 2nd call reported smoke showing from the roof. Call was upgraded to a 2nd alarm. E582 arrived and reported light smoke showing. After forcing entry into the Church nothing was visible other than an odor of smoke. Crews then threw a ground ladder in the church to gain access to the loft where units observed heavy smoke and some fire in the roof area, fire was ext quickly while a 2nd crew made access into the steeple from the roof. The department was credited by the priest for a fast response and quick knock down. All 2nd alarm units were cx enroute. Units O/S: E581, E582, T587, Nuremberg Ems. units cx: Sheppton E9-10, T9-30, Sugarloaf E12, T11, Hazle Twp. R101, T106, Tw105, West Hazleton E242, L244, Medic 23. Units operated for approx 2 Hrs on the scene. Cause of the fire was lightening from a severe storm that was moving threw the area

 

 

5-31-06     0210     While returning  from the prior incident T587 and C582 came across an MVA at the intersection of Golf Course Road and Cedar Head Road. Area was checked after finding no one around the vehicle. PSP advised. Units O/S: T587. E581 & E582 were Cancelled.

June 06

6-1-06     0214     Dispatched for 1 Tanker to assit Hazle Twp with a Dump Fire. Units O/S: T587, Hazle Twp Fire, Harwood & Sheppton-Oneida.

6-8-06     0503     Dispatched to est a landing zone for medevac 4 at the Nuremberg Park. You never know who may find us in the sticks. Ems was flying out a male with a GSW. It turns out the patient was involved in a shooting 45 miles away that had 1 killed and another injured. Units O/S: E582, Nuremberg Ems, Medic 23.

6-28-06     0030     Dispatched to the Tomhicken for a Car in the Water with possible Entrapment, arrived to find the driver out of the vehicle already roadway was completely shut down due to a large rock slid and high water. Units O/S; E582

6-28-06     0056     Dispatched to 1035 Catawissa Creek Road for a Family of 4 trapped in a residence due to high flood waters. Arrived to find the creek that is normally 15 feet wide now at 200+ feet wide, water was up to the bottom of the windows(about 38 inches) of the 1 story home. Upon are arrival the shed for the residence was floating by at about 45 miles an hour! Family was removed by the Sunbury Swift Water Rescue Team. it took there team 2 1/2 hours to reach us due to all the flooded roadways. Units O/S: E582, B584, Shenandoah Medic 6403, Nuremberg EMS. 

6-28-06     0142     Dispatched to 1418 Tomhicken Road for a residence that is sinking. B584 arrived to find a large mine subsidence that had opened up under 1 corner of the home. Hole was about 30 feet in diameter and over 40 feet deep.  Family was already evacuated. Units O/S: B584

6-28-06     0718     Dispatched to Main Street in Fern Glen for the reported House Fire. The scene which is normally a 2 mile drive for the station turned into a 14 mile 1 way trip. This was due to the Tomhicken road being closed from a large rock slide. Units arrived on location to find a false alarm. Units O/S: E582, QT581, T585, T587, E12, Units cx E9-10, and T9-30

6-27 to 6-29 there were multiple other incidents with most of them being pump details.

 

July 2006

7-1-06     1355     Dispatched to Eagle Rock for a vehicle in the water, at first reported as the lake upgrading the box to a wtaer rescue assignment. Tele Squirt 9-20 stated its in the creek behind the townhomes at the bottom of the development. District 9 Units arrived to find a vehicle on its side in the water with no one around. It was then reported that the vehicle has been there for several days. District 9 was covering for us due to a burn class we held. Units O/S: C581, TS 9-20, SQ 9-70. Hazle Twp Rescue, Mahanoy City Rescue, Valley regional Rescue, Nuremberg Ems all Cancelled

7-28-06     0019     Dispatched to the Tomhicken Road for a TREE DOWN. Units O/S: E582

7-29-06     1643     Dispatched to 53 Gross Road for a VEHICLE FIRE. While enroute county advised a possible structure involved also. Units arrived to find a fully involved truck fire with no structures involved. Units O/S: E582, T585, T587, Nuremberg EMS.

 

 

August 06

8-10-06     0702     Dispatched to Valley Pizza on Rt. 93 for a working Structure Fire assit Sugarloaf Township. Upon arrival of the First in Engine, Heavy fire was showing which brought a 2nd alarm. E582, T585 responded as part of the 2nd alarm with a special request for T587. The building was home to 5 businesses and was a total loss. First in companies did provided an excellent hit keeping the fire from entering the last 2 bussiness and saving several animals from the pet store. Fire did have complete control of the common roof. Nuremberg Units assisted with extinguishment and overhaul. Our units were in service for approx 3 Hrs. Units O/S: E582, T585, T587, Sugarloaf E12, E13, T11, R12, Valley regional E2, E3, R1, A1, Hazle Twp TW105, E102, Harwood E192, Nescopeck Twp Engine.

8-24-06     0356     Dispatched to 138 Boulevard  for a reported Barn Fire. Quint 581 arrived first due and reported a fully Involved Structure already on the ground. QT581 placed the blitz fire in service while E582 est. a water supply and then supplied QT581 with 150' 5". Multiple additional handlines were then placed in service from both pieces. Units were on scene for approx 3 hrs. Incident was held to a First alarm. Units O/S: QT581, E582, T585, T587, Sugarloaf E12(fill site), Tanker 11, Rescue 12, Nuremberg Ems. Chief 581 had command.

8-27-06     2033     Dispatched to 287 Buck Mt Road for a Vehicle Fire. Units O/S: E582  

8-31-06  1115    Dispatched to 123 Aristis Road in Union Twp for a Barn Fire, Assisting District 30, both tankers responded as part of the Tanker Task Force. Just as T585 arrived on location an Explosion took place which was the result of Fuel tanks in the basement of the barn. The barn had approx 1500 bales of hay stored in it. Our Units were in service for approx. 8 Hours. T585 & T587 Shuttled a combine total of 115,000 Gallons alone.Units O/S: T585, T587, E30-10,E671,E672,E451,E881,E352,E331 Squirt 9-20, Rescue 993, and the following Tankers: 30-35,353,9-30,461,26-30,25-30,25-35,4-30,4-35. E751 Provided standby in Ringtown Station. also Ringtown EMS and Shenandoah ALS

9-21-06     1723     Dispatched to standby in station for the possible response into the Humboldt Industrial Park, assisting Hazle Twp. Units were operating on a Commercial Structure Fire at 555 Oak Ridge Road. Units Requested: E582 

9-21-06     2352     Dispatched to B8 Lake Valley Drive for an AFA, Units arrived on location to find a smoke condition in the residence. Upon investigating it was discovered that there were items in a lead pot, that was located on a wood burner that had started to burn after the pot melted almost causing a major incident. Units O/S: QT581, T585

9-26-06     0322    Dispatched to 516 Whitebread Lane for a reported Structure Fire. County stated unknown on what is burning. Incident was then upgraded to a 2nd alarm. Sugarloaf E12 arrived on location as part of the first alarm approx 1 min before Quint 581 and reported a large working garage fire with multiple vehicles involved. Quint 581 arrived on location with Chief 581 in command and pulled the blitz fire to side A. Engine 582 arrived on location under the command of Chief 582 and was positioned on Side B to take the rear of the building. After finding no access to the rear multiple openings were made to gain access into the rear of the building where they advanced 1 handline. A 3rd alarm was then struck for additional tankers. Fire was knocked down in approx 45 mins followed by extensive overhaul. Multiple handlines were inservice from E12, E582 and QT581. Quint 581 alone had pumped 3-3" lines, 1- 2 1/2 and 1-1 3/4. All units were clear approx 4 hours later. Units O/S: QT581, E582, T585, T587, Sugarloaf E12, T11, R12, Valley Regional E3, T1, R1, Hazle Twp. E102, R101, Harwood E192, T191, Sheppton-Oneida Squirt 9-20, T9-30, West Hazleton L244, Foster Twp. Ringtwon E672 arrived first due and reported smoke showing from an exterior wall with moderate smoke pushing from the attic. Quint 581 then arrived 2nd due. 2 Handlines were placed in service and the fire was ext in about 10 mins followed by extensive overhaul. Units O/S: QT581, E582, T585, T587, E672, Union Twp. E30-10, T30-35, Nuremberg EMS. Chief 581 had command, incident was held to a first alarm.

 

10-14-06     1241     Dispatched to assit Sugarloaf Twp With a working Structure Fire, reported as an apartment building. Responded as part of the 2nd alarm. Units arrived to find fire on the exterior with extension into the 2nd floor and attic. Our units operated for about 3 Hours. Units O/S: E582, T585, T587 with the quint crewed in quarters. 11-15-06     2004     Dispatched to 182 Mahanoy Street for the working apartment building fire. Nuremberg Ems Chief 980 came across the incident. Per C980 on the scene he confirmed a working fire. This report brought the incident to an automatic Commercial 3rd Alarm. E582 under the command of C582 arrived on location confirming the above report. Heavy smoke and fire was showing from the first floor apartment along with smoke pushing from the apartments above and the eves of the building. Ladder 581 arrived and its crew was assigned to a 2nd line into the fire building along with ventaltion and to start a primary search of the floors above. First floor was checked by additional crew members of E582. E9-10 personnel arrived on location and was assigned to place a 3rd line in service and performed an additional search of the 2nd floor apartments. They encountered some fire conditions in the apartment directly above the fire.  Crews made an excellent and aggressive interior attack to stop the spread of the fire. The building in question is over 100 years old and had the potential of destroying an entire block. The fire was knocked in approx 20 mins. Those units that weren't on scene yet were cancelled. Units O/S:E582, L581, T585, T587, Sheppton E9-10, T 9-30, Ringtown E671, E672, Shenandoah Heights E881, Beaver Twp.
