8-10-08 2000 Dispatched for the Ladder at the request of C581 to the intersection of Main + Mahanoy Streets for the Lightning strike investigation. As severe storms moved threw the area, the Luthern Church had its steeple struck. L581 laddered the building and found no evidence of fire just damage to the steeple. Units operated for about 45 mins. Units O/S: L581.

7-15-08 2141 Dispatched as part of the first alarm along with District 9, District 30, Hazle Twp Fire and West Hazleton RIT to 941 Center Street In East Union Twp. for the reported HOUSE FIRE. Chief 9-06 arrived on location and confirmed a working fire with heavy fire showing from the rear 2nd and 3rd floors of a large double. E9-10 layed a supply line from Center Street down Cranberry Alley where they placed multiple lines inservice. L581 arrived on location as the first out of town piece and picked up the Engine's Supply line. Squirt 9-20 was positioned at A side and placed 1 line inservice threw the 2nd floor. L581 also supplied them with a supply line. The L581 crew also advanced a line from the Ladder into the 3rd floor after throwing multiple ground ladders. Tower 105 positioned at the A/B corner and went to the roof. Ringtown Valley E30-10 was placed in front of 9-10. E582 was assigned to the fill site. All additional apparatus was placed in staging. The fire was knocked down and contained in about 30 mins with extensive overhaul being performed. Nuremberg units operated for about 3 hours on the scene. Units O/S:L581, E582, T585, T587, E9-10, T9-30, SQUIRT 9-20,SQ 9-70, E9-14, T9-34 E30-10, E30-11, T30-35, Hazle Twp Tower + Rescue, West Hazleton RIT (Ladder + Rescue). Nuremberg and Shenadoah EMS were also on scene and provided Rehab

6-19-08 At approx 2300 hours the sound of gun shots rang out in the 700 Block of Main Street. Multiple police units converged on the area and secured the scene after an unknown subject fired multiple shots out the window of his vehicle towards a residence. Within a short time later additional police units were requested to the Tomhicken Road. Turns out a motorist driving down the road was shot at multiple times and had his vehicle hit numerous times. The suspect was found and taken into custody. The department provided traffic control at the request of PD, shutting down Main Street.

6-15-08 2146 Dispatched to the area of Harmens Funeral Home on the Rock Glen Road for an mva with Entrapment. Reported to be 2 subjects unresponsive. C581 arrived and reported 1 pt heavily entrapped. E582 arrived and started to stabilize the vehicle and placed the Spreaders and Cutters in service followed by the Sugarloaf Rescue who also placed multiple tools in service. L581 responded and secured the LZ. The pt was extricated in about 20 Mins and Flown to the GMC Shock Trauma. Units O/S: E582, L581, Sugarloaf Rescue, Nuremberg EMS x 2, Medic 26 & PSP.

6-02-08 0837 Dispatched to 600 Hazle Street in Weston for the reported HOUSE FIRE, fire was reported to be a dryer in the Laundry Room. Dispatched on the first alarm was Sta. 580, District 9 STA 2 for the Engine and Tanker, Hazle Twp for the Engine, Tanker, Rescue. C581 signed on the air and reported smoke showing. Upon arrival within 5 mins of Dispatch E582 arrived and confirmed a working fire with fire visible on the first and 2nd floor and heavy smoke showing from throughout. A 2nd alarm was requested at this time however county didn't hear the request. Inital crews were meet with extreme heat and smoke in the residence. Crews lead off with 2-1.75 lines with 3 additional lines being placed in service once additional manpower was available.. Crews advancing to the 2nd floor found the staircase burned out along with most of the floor. E582's Deck gun was placed in service to knock down the 2nd floor until crews could make access. Hazle Twp Tower 105 arrived and was placed in front of the structure to continue with Ventilation. Ladder 581 was placed at the A+B Corner. Upon finding out a 2nd alarm hadn't been issued, additional apparatus was requested along with the Tanker Task Force. Approx 6 pieces of apparatus that would have been assigned to the 2nd alarm or tanker task force didn't crew. Sugarloaf E2 was assigned the fill site. E9-10, E102, R101, R12 were all placed in staging with manpower assisting on the fireground. Mcadoo Ladder 49-22 was special called to assit with overhaul. Due to the age of the building and its construction crews had a difficult time at first in extinguishment of the Fire. Once the fire ignited the attic and portions of the 2nd floor lit back off, the Tower and L581 were placed in service with there aerial master streams until all visible fire was ext and then crews reentered for complete extinguishment and overhaul. Sadly the family lost several pets and most of there personal belongings. Units O/S: E582, L581, T585, T587, E9-10, E102, TW105, R101, E12, T11, R12, Quint 49-22, Nuremberg EMS, Valley Regional Medic 26. and the following supplied additional tankers: Mahanoy City, Hometown, Treskcow, Wright Twp, Main Twp, Foster Twp, and Ringtown Valley Fire + Rescue. Crews operated on the scene for approx 5 hours. Inital crews on the first alarm did an excellent job containing the fire to one side of the home and dealing with the heat and humidty outside. 1 firefighter was transported for a minor back injury to Hazleton General.

2-09-08 0040 Dispatched at the request of West Mahanoy Twp Fire Command for 2 tankers to assit with a Working House Fire. The residence was fully involved upon the arrival of the first Engine Co. Sadly two residents in the house were lost. Units that Responded: T585, T587. William Penn (Engine) Shenandoah Heights (engine), Shenandoah (2 Engines, Squirt), Mahanoy City (tanker), Altamont (engine x 2), Gorden (tanker), Ringtown Valley(tanker), Sheppton-Oneida (tanker), Brandonville (tanker), Fountain Springs (tanker), Lavelle (tanker), Lost Creek Ems.

1-13-08 1057 Dispatched to 1920 Tomhicken Road for the reported HOUSE FIRE, reported smoke in the basement. E582 arrived on scene to find smoke showing from the rear of the residence. one 1.75 line was advanced and personnel had a quick knock on the fire once it was located in the basement. Extensive ventilation was performed by Ladder 581 along with overhaul. Units O/S:L581, E582, T585, T587, Sugarloaf E2, T1.

1-12-08 1032 Dispatched to 1894 Tomhicken Road at Zacks Rock Glen Manor for an AFA. Upon signing on the air C582 was advised call is being upgraded to a Structure Box. 2nd call reported smoke coming from an emergency light possible fire in the walls. Full first alarm was requested along with the Zacks 2nd alarm on standby (see box 6). Engine 582 first arriving reported light smoke condition on the first floor, building was evacuatedupon the departments arrival. Upon investigating fire was found in the emergency light. Light was removed from the wall and walls checked with no extension found. C582 had fire command and Nuremberg EMS Chief 980 had ems command. Units O/S:E582, L581, T587, Nuremberg ems, Medic 26, Sugarloaf E2, T1 cx enroute.

1-08-07 2012 Dispatched to 1465 Rock Glen Road for the reported HOUSE FIRE. Fire was reported in the panel box. 2nd call from County stating a working fire and the residents are refusing to leave because they are trying to remove personal belongings. Engine and Ladder arrived at the same time to find smoking showing from the residence. Entry made into a residence and the fire was quickly Ext. and the residence was ventilated and overhaul performed. The resident did use a dry chem to keep the fire contatined until the department arrival. Fire had started in the Electrical box and spread to the wall and up to the roof. Incident was held to a first alarm with a 2nd alarm standby on BOX 3. Units O/S: L581, E582, T585, T587, Sugarloaf E2, T1, Nuremberg EMS.

1-07-08 0408 Units were dispatched to 569 Main Street in Weston for the GARAGE FIRE. Engine 582 arrived on location and found a working fire, with heavy fire showing from the attic. 1.75 handline was placed in service and crew knocked down the fire quickly. Ladder 581 arrived and went to the roof for ventilation. Incident was held to a First Alarm. Units O/S: L581, E582, T585, T587, E9-10. C581 with command.
11-23-07 2250 Dispatched to the Main Street in Shenandoah for the Working Commercial Structure Fire. Both Tankers were requested as part of the first Alarm Tanker Task Force. With multiple units in operations flow large amounts of water on the scene Command requested tankers to boost water supply on the scene. Additional tankers would be requested that equaled a 2nd alarm on the tanker task force. In all 5 Alarms were struck bringing in 56 pieces of equipment from 4 counties. 2 Businesses were destroyed.

3-6-07 0456 Dispatched at the request of Columbia County for a Full Station response to assit Beaver Twp Fire & Main Twp Fire Companies with a working house fire at 170 Mountain Shadow Lane. First arriving units found a fully involved 2 story home. The residence was located down a long one lane driveway which was approx 3/4 of a mile long. NWVFC units were orginally given an assignment of dropping 2300 feet of 5" between the Engine and Ladder however that assignment was cancelled and units were held in staging with manpower sent to the scene. Units had to deal with one of coldest morning of the year with wind chills of -20. Units O/S: E582, L581, T585. T587, Beaver twp Engine + Tanker, Main Twp Engine x 2 + Tanker, and Catawissia Tanker.

On 12-24-07 Santa made his return vist to the Coverage area on Christmas Eve on board L581 to pay all the kids a quick vist before he started the rest of his rounds that evening.
On 12-16-07 Santa made a vist for the 2nd time to the the Firehouse to help us raise funds by allowing his picture to be taken with the local Pets.
On 12-09-07 We held the Annual Kids Christmas Party on for the children of the area. Once again the party was a huge success. Ladder 581 picked up Santa at the North Pole and delievered him to the FireHouse.

10-16-07 The Nuremberg-Weston VFC along with The Sugarloaf and Valley Regional Fire Departments Held Fire Prevention at the Valley Elem. School.
