ABOUT ME

I would like to thank you all for visiting my website and I ask that you come back to check out the new additions that will soon be coming.

My name is John Pulliam.  I was born in Richmond, Virginia in February of 1983.  At the age of 3 months, my parents moved me back to Trion, Georgia.  Trion was the hometown of my mother, Jane.  I give full credit to my father, Loyd, for jump-starting my obession with fishing.  At the age of 6 years old, my Dad took me fishing for the first time.  Although those first times were just to introduce me to the waters around the city of Trion, it would soon prove that I would be an angler for the rest of my life.

Several months down the road from the first trips that I accompanied my Dad, I found myself at a family reunion on Lake Weiss.  At that time, I caught my first bluegill.  From that moment on, I was hooked for life.  Later in my life, Lake Weiss would come back into my life.

At the age of 11, my father recognized my desire to bass fish.  Although the satisfaction of catching catfish, bluegills, and crappies was found on several occasions, he had the foresight to see that a new adventure in my life was needed.  He equipped me with my first casting setup and he taught me how to use it properly without backlashing.  Eventually, I would graduate to my first meaningful casting combination, but I discovered with the first bass that I caught that I wanted to fish for bass for the rest of my life.

In the early 1990's, my Dad took me back to Lake Weiss.  To start off with, we mostly fishing for crappies and catfish.  However, I had seen several tournaments taking place, and that old familiar need to tangle with largemouth came to me.  Over the next several years, I would learn more about Lake Weiss than any other lake in the area.

In 2001, I moved away from home to attend college in Alpharetta, Georgia.  I was only a mere 30 minutes away from Lake Lanier, which I had fished a few times in my youth.  During the year that I was in Alpharetta, though, I was not able to fish Lanier as much as I would have liked.  In 2002, I found myself back in Trion, and back at Lake Weiss.

In March of 2005, I participated in my first club tournament, which was held on Lake Hartwell.  In that tournament, my partner and I finished in 3rd place.  That set into motion the obsession to fish in tournaments.  Although that obsession is there, I have yet to participate in another tournament.  I am hoping that will change in the near future, as I hope to join the FLW Tour's BFL Division.

During my time in fishing, I have fished Lake Weiss and Lake Guntersville in Alabama, Lake Chickamauga in Tennessee, Lake Lanier, Lake Allatoona, Lake Hartwell, Carter's Lake, Fort Mountain State Park, James H. Floyd State Park, and the Rocky Mountain Project, all of which are housed in my home state of Georgia.
