I regret to say that Huron County has lost their authorized wildlife rehabilitator. Due to circumstances that are beyond us, we are not able to rehabilitate any wildlife at this time. I hope to be able to do this again, in the future.
Our closest wildlife rehabber is Brian Salt at Salthaven, in Mount Bridges. You would need to transport any wildlife to him. http://www.salthaven.org/
There are rumours that there maybe another person getting their wildlife authorization in Goderich. This was not confirmed to me.
Thank you to those who have supported me, for the past 2 years.
God Bless these wee wild animals in need.
Leucistic Eastern Grey Squirrels
These White Squirrels are "Leucistic", meaning that they are NOT Albinos but lack all colour in their skin, and fur; but have normally coloured eyes. Like albinism, leucisim can be inherited through offspring, though not as consistently or reliably, and the gene does not appear to be fully recessive as is the case with albinism.
Our Mission
is to protect, promote and preserve the unique squirrel population of the Exeter / Huron region.
Melanistic Eastern Grey Squirrel
This Squirrel is "Melanistic", meaning there is an increased amount of black or nearly black pigmentation. Being from Exeter, he could father many Leucistic young.
Our Vision
is to cultivate compassion and improve education for a harmonious co-existence with the wildlife sharing our communities.
Our Objectives
are to accomplish this by the deliberate changes of human engineering, whereby a displaced, sick, injured or orphaned squirrel regains the health and skills it requires to function normally. And discover ways for the harmonious co-existence through educating and sharing detailed information with the public.
Our Goals
are to assure the natural conditions necessary for these squirrels to live self-sufficiently, while monitoring their health, welfare, population and jurisdictional migrations.
