Law School Goes to the Theater: The Campaign to Confer the Public Service Star on JBJ
30 September 2007
The first-ever "Law School goes to the Theatre" organised by the 28th MC was a massive success. All 135 tickets were snapped up on the first day of sale. This was largely due to the greatly subsidized price Law Club managed to negotiate with SISTIC, as well as the generous $1000 lump sum sponsorship offered by Harry Elias Partnership. Tickets that were originally priced at $56 were offered to faculty and staff of NUS Law for the eye popping price of $24!
15 Partners, associates, and staff of Harry Elias also joined us for the event, mingling with staff and students of the faculty.
By a happy coincidence, Managing Partner Latiff Ibrahim was the classmate of playwright Eleanor Wong. He jokingly told students that sometimes playwrights earn more than lawyers.
A career choice to consider?

Massive Mooncake Madness
13 September 2007
5:45pm till late
Massive Mooncake Madness was a smashing success. More than 150 students and faculty members joined in the celebration of the Mid-Autumn Festival organised by the 28th NUS Law Club Management Committee. Students and faculty members were treated to a delightful spread of mooncakes and Chinese tea as well as food provided by other students. Many picnicked on the lawn and listened to A/P Li Mei Qin’s captivating narration of traditional Chinese myths and legends. This event attracted not only LLB students, but LLM students, Dip. Sing students and countless exchange students as well (many of the exchange students found this celebration particularly interesting and relished their first taste of mooncake). Some students took advantage of the beautiful weather and played Frisbee while others took the opportunity to make new friends with the exchange students or catch up with other friends and professors.
The quadrangle was lit up by traditional Chinese paper lanterns when darkness began to engulf the area. Paper lanterns as well as sparklers were distributed to the students who happily relived their childhood by lighting the lanterns and sparklers and ran around the field. Conversations lasted through the night and friendships were forged and cemented through this time of fellowship.
Picnik at the Botanik
23 August 2007
4:30pm till late
Picnik at the Botanik was the brainchild of a couple of year 2s who envisioned Law School coming together on the second week of school to have fun, catch up with each other and most importantly, bond. This picnic was held at the beautiful Singapore Botanic Gardens (which is located next to the Law Faculty). Many students sat under the shade of huge, ancient trees, enjoying the picturesque scenery as well as the company of friends while others took a walk along the lake or the park, enjoying the cool evening breeze. Many saw this as a welcome break from the stress of
