Many people who have visited the Bays of Huatulco area have asked what they can bring to benefit the community. Nuevo Amanecer is a non for profit school working to improve the lives of children with disabilities and those of their families. There are many things that you can do to assist the disabled children of Huatulco. Here are a list of just a few things that the center needs your help with:
- Ensure or Pediasure nutritional supplements: To assist with the nutrition of the older children
- Powdered Baby Formula: To assist with the nutrition of the developing infants and toddlers
- Used or New Car Seats: To provide children with back and neck support which enables them to remain in a sitting position while working to enhance their motor skills
- Used or New Infant Water Beds: Or twin size water bed
- Learning materials such as wooden puzzles and blocks, etc.
- Thick Crayons/Markers and Notebooks
- Items for the "Kid's Day Fair" (***please read below)
- Monetary Donations (please click on donations on the left)
These items may be dropped off directly at the school, or at the Cafe Dublin, in La Crucesita. Scott and Rodrigo will ensure that they are delivered to the school.
*** This April Nuevo Amanecer had it's first ever "Kid's Day Fair. " The fair was made possible by donations from local families and generous tourists. Donated new toys, markers, notebooks, and pencils served as prizes at the fair, where each child received a minimum of one prize. This fair served as a great venue for integration between the children of Nuevo Amanecer and the children of the community, many whom had never interacted with a disabled child before. Nuevo Amanecer hopes to use further donations of toys and school supplies to make this fair an annual activity for all the children of the community.
