41 players at the George Bisset Junior Marathon!!!!

The biggest junior tournament in recent years was held today at George Bissett Elementary School in Dartmouth.  We had players from Dartmouth, Halifax, Kentville, Antigonish, Hebbville, Musquodoboit and Bridgewater.

Gregory’s of PEI defeat Kents of Nova Scotia

 

Todd and Mark Gregory, brothers of Prince Edward Island knocked out the father and son team of Ian and Isaac Kent at the 1st NS Circuit Tournament on Sat Nov 14th in Middle Musquodoboit.  The Kent’s and the Gregory’s ended up as 1st and 2nd in their division.  When the semi-final matches were played, both Gregory’s were the winners.  Todd Gregory went on to defeat his brother in the finals to claim the title for the event.  More than 50 people participated in the tournament.

The first event of the year was held on Oct 24th at Dutch Settlement Elementary School.

Twenty players from around the Province participated in the event.  Some of the players are Canada Winter Games aspiring athletes.

Congratulation to Ian Kent who won Panamerican Gold this week and a bye to the

2010 World Championships!  He won gold in the Class 8 singles event.  He also made

it to the finals of the Open Men's Singles (Classes 6-10 combined).

The Dutch Settlement Club will meet on Monday evenings this year.

Before Christmas – Sept 21, 28, Oct 5, 19, 26, Nov 2, 9, 16, 23, 30 (possibly Dec5)

Program

6:00pm to 6:55  for both students and novice players usually ages 7 to 15  (Cost $10.00)

7:00pm to 8:30 players 15 and older can play for fun or enter a league.  We need players for the league. Cost is $20.00

 

The Annual General Meeting of the Nova Scotia Table Tennis Association will take place on Sept 20 at 1:30pm in the IKON Board Room at Sport Nova Scotia.

 

 

Canadian Championships in Trois-Rivieres, Quebec from July 17th to 19th.

 

Congratulations to Al Martell who won gold in the veterans 60 and bronze in the veteran's 50 at the Canadian Championships in Trois-Rivieres, Quebec from July 17th to 19th.

Ian Kent captured the Men's Nova Scotia Provincial Table Tennis Title by defeating Darren Rudolph in the final of the MEN'S Championship.  Ian, along with his son Tyler Kent, also fought back from behind two games to defeat Isaac Kent and Darren in the MEN'S Doubles Final.  By capturing the title, Ian has earned the right to represent our province at the Atlantic Championships, in Newfoundland, in May, as well as the National Championships, in Quebec, in July.  Congratulations, Ian!  Katie Jollimore captured the Women's title and has, likewise, earned the right to represent Nova Scotia at the Alantics and the Nationals.  Congratulations, Katie!
 

The Nova Scotia Provincial Championships were held at Musquodoboit Rural High on April 4th.  Fifty-four players ranging in age from 9 to 63 competed at the event in Middle Musquodoboit and crowned Champions in 19 categories.

Sport Center Atlantic is hosting an Atlantic Coaching Seminar from May 15-18 in the Halifax Regional Municipality.  This seminar will include clinics/activities from lots of different sports.
 
NSTTA will be offering a Community Sport coaching clinic.  This course replaces the former Level 1.  This is an introduction course to coaching.  You will go through the basic strokes(and how to teach them), rules, how to plan a training session along with other coaching tips.

Ian Kent captured another title this season as he went undefeated at Canning this past weekend.  He finished 9-0.  Isaac Kent finished at 8-1 for second place.  Al Martell came in third with a record of 6-3. 
 
 
February 9, 2009.
 
Al Martell and Dave Greenough won the Team Tournament held in Truro this past weekend.  Ian Kent and Teddy Lemmon finished second.   Darren Rudolph and Andy Decoste finished third.  All three teams finished with a 5-1 record.  The three-way tie for first was broken by a tie-breaker with Martell and Greenough narrowly edging out the teams of Kent and Lemmon and Rudolph and Decoste.

Ian Kent continued his dominance of Nova Scotia Table Tennis by winning the Senior Marathon Tournament held in Middle Musquodoboit this past weekend.  He went undefeated for the second straight tournament.   Al Martell finished second with a 8-2 record.   Isaac Kent was third by going 8-2.  Darren Rudolph was fourth at 7-3.  Here are the rest of the results.

The second tournament of the year has been won by Ian Kent.  He went undefeated in the 'A' Division with a record of 9-0.  Al Martell finished second with a record of 8-1.  Isaac Kent rounded out the top three by finishing 6-3.  
 
In the 'B' Division, Wayne Erskine won by going undefeated at 9-0.  Teddy Lemmon finished second by going 8-1.  Philip Oulton was third with a 7-2 record.
 
In the 'C' Division, Katie Jollimore won by going undefeated at 9-0.  Gary Hubley finished second with a 7-2 record.  Morgan Erskine finished third by going 6-3.
 
In the 'D' Division, Larissa White won by going undefeated at 7-0.  Matthew Kent was second with a 6-1 record.  Kara White finished third by going 5-2.
 
Congratulations to everyone who participated in the biggest turn-out so far this season. 
 
 
 
October 21, 2008.
 
The first tournament of the season was held this past weekend in Dutch Settlement.  Al Martell finished in first place.  Darren Rudolph, the 2007 Dutch Settlement Open Champion, finished second.   Both players finished with identical 6-1 records.   Joe Fisher finished in third place.

Atlantic Table Tennis Championship -  2008.
 
Ian Kent of Nova Scotia is the Men's Atlantic Canadian
Table Tennis Champion.  He defeated Jack Selvarajah 4-2
in the final held in Charlottetown, PEI.  It was a highly
successful event for our Province as many players had great

In the Team Event on Day 1, Nova Scotia (Al Martel, Jack
Selvarajah, Darren Rudolph, and Wayne Erskine) finished 
second.  They lost a close match with PEI - the eventual
champions. 
 
April 12, 2008.
