Predictions For Fall and Winter 2009
Greetings Clients and Site Visitors!
Here we are having reached the Fall of 2009. It has been a rough ride and I know there are plenty of us who just want to wrap up this year and move on to a hopefully more prosperous 2010. I know that many of you are working hard right now to make up for lost time and income this year. And that is certainly the way that things are in my household.
The News Media continues their daily mantra that the recession is "almost over". Well, I have never in my life experienced an "almost over" recession that has ever put a penny in my pocket! The next FOUR MONTHS will speak VOLUMES about how "almost over" this recession really is. Unfortunately, I have to tell you that the Astrology of our Economy is not at all promising. More on that later.
A few weeks after I wrote my summer forecast, the National Weather Service announced the return of El Nino and revised their weather forecast calling for fewer tropical storms and hurricanes. Had I known this I certainly would have made a more modest forecast regarding the prospects for hurricanes, particularly in the Caribbean and the Gulf of Mexico. However the same weather pattern that has reduced the prospect of eastern hurricanes is increasing the prospect for a cold and stormy winter on the way.
There are many developing patterns in the planetary movements and in the directions that world events are taking now which definitely appear to have more than one possible outcome. But of the following things I am absolutely certain and confident:
1)The outbursts of anger and vulgarity that we have witnessed over health care reform and other issues will very likely continue. A number of planets are moving into fire and water signs in the fall and winter with numerous confrontational aspects involved. The movement of planets into Libra will greatly challenge our diplomatic skills. While Libra wants peace at any cost all too often Libra finds only discord and conflict. And if we must battle and fight could we at least choose issues that are worth the trouble? Too much valuable time and resources are being squandered on all sorts of petty nonsense.
2) The planets tell of a 2009 holiday season of still greater hardship, shortages and despair for millions. Venus entering Capricorn on Christmas Day is an alarm of great concern. I believe that we can anticipate a snowstorm of pink slips in December but even if that does not occur many more people will nonetheless slip into poverty through no fault of their own. This must be a season of great compassion and outreach to those less fortunate. The time to do something is immediately - well before the holiday season begins.
Here is my day-by-day forecast for the remainder of 2009:
September 15th, Saturn opposition Uranus. This year long opposition is again exact (Saturn 24:42 Virgo; Uranus 24:42 Pisces). Some astrologers believe this exact opposition marks the last vestige of the extreme polarities between the political parties, particularly regarding the US health care reform debate. I am more inclined to believe that secretive, behind-the-scenes activities will move into high gear and particularly so after October 23rd when the Sun enters Scorpio.
September 17th, Sun conjunct Saturn. A very serious and practical energy that will be best applied to business matters requiring attention to detail. An excellent day for health related concerns and particularly for bone and joint care. But beware of disagreements and clashes with authority figures.
September 20th, Venus enters Virgo. Here we have a potential game changer! This will certainly serve to soften the hard edge of Saturn in Virgo. Virgo natives are now shown some mercy from the Saturn energy and their fortunes could change for the better in the workplace, in financial matters and in romance. Tight fisted conservative types might begin to appreciate that generosity and kindness have a practical purpose and a necessary place.
September 22nd, Fall Equinox; Sun Enters Libra. The days and nights are equally long, sending a message of harmony and balance. The ancients engaged in sacred ceremony giving thanks for an abundant harvest and seeking insights for their spiritual growth. Time to take stock of all that we have experienced throughout the year and to consider what are the correct timely actions we should take as the winter approaches. This particular Fall Equinox is colored by Mercury conjunct Saturn in Virgo, an aspect which pleads urgently with humanity to please do more thinking outside of the box!
September 23rd promises to be an extraordinary day! The following four important aspects occur on this date:
Sun square Pluto. This aspect reveals tremendous stress between individual consciousness, or will and the social, or collective unconscious. This entire "equinox week" is a critical time to recognize and avoid the pitfalls of "Group Think", "Group Speak" or "Group Act". This aspect reminds us that being part of a majority confers no guarantee of either security or correctness. A major tenant of spiritual intelligence is the ability to stand from the crowd, even when personal sacrifice or suffering is sometimes the result.
Mercury opposition Uranus. This is actually a desirable opposition because it expands the consciousness and helps us to see the big picture. Some very brilliant individuals were born with this aspect.
Mercury inconjunct Neptune. A difficult aspect in terms of getting to the facts and the truth. In turn, some may find the truth "inconvenient" and unacceptable and they may seek to cloud the issues. Acting on ones feelings with this aspect could meet with an unfortunate outcome. Watch timing issues, inattentive drivers and unexpected circumstances, such as weather conditions.
Mars inconjunct Jupiter. In the worst case scenario this aspect could trigger a significant upset in the world's stock markets. A large scale accident or blundering military action of some kind is also typical. However as Mars is in Cancer the situation might possibly be more emotional than physical. Whatever form this takes it will almost certainly not be good for the United States; it could become quite a national embarrassment.
Taking all of these September 23rd aspects into account, I believe something very important might happen relating to the war in Afghanistan; this day could mark a critical turning point in US and European deployment there.
September 29th, Mercury station Direct. Mercury had been retrograde since September 6th.
October 9th, Mercury enters Libra. The choice with Mercury in Libra is almost always either very good diplomacy or a disgraceful and unjust war. This sets the stage for important judiciary hearings and labor contract negotiations. Issues of fairness are always put to the test with Mercury in Libra.
October 12th - 13th. Another big event day. Jupiter stations Direct (good news for the economy and the financial markets) while Ceres enters Scorpio. Ceres, goddess of the harvest, has her work cut out in Scorpio, suggesting decisive actions will be taken. I recommend vigilance where contagious diseases are concerned. We may get a signal or two out of Washington concerning the fate of health care reform around this time.
October 13th, Venus conjunct Saturn and sextile Mars. Favors relations between men and women. But even in divorce situations the outcome is likely to be amicable and responsible. A special day to assist either children or one's own parents.
October 14th, Venus enters Libra. Venus is exalted in Libra; life can become more beautiful and harmonious now if we welcome this energy! Participate in cultural events and pursue more lofty and enlightening activities.
October 16th, Mars enters Leo. Great pride and elegant flair. Men may become more vain but at least they will take better care of themselves and their appearance. Ego and ambitions may need to be kept in check. Military actions also present danger with Mars in Leo.
October 18th, Mars inconjunct Pluto. A dangerous, crime and accident prone day to be very careful with. Avoid travel unless you have no other choice.
October 22 - 23, Sun enters Scorpio. Time to be spiritual and wise rather than jealous, suspicious and possessive; all of which are Scorpio traits.
October 28th, Mercury enters Scorpio. Most notorious for spiteful, scorpion-stinging speech but more than willing to back up words with other vengeful forms of expression! Arguments can all-too-easily escalate into violence with Mercury in Scorpio. Constructive uses of this energy include psychic communication, dream interpretation, séances, occult writings and investigative journalism. Until December 5th I strongly recommend against playing 'devils advocate' or making hurtful or slanderous remarks because retribution and pain will almost certainly follow.
October 29th, Saturn enters Libra. No interest in diplomacy or decorum? Saturn to the rescue! For anyone who does not want to negotiate in good faith, Mr. Saturn will make you an offer you can't refuse! Virgo natives get a brief reprieve from Saturn's demanding presence. Libra natives now get a taste of what 'The Taskmaster' will bring later in 2010!
November 2nd, Venus inconjunct Uranus. This will create more uncertainty about what we like and what we dislike. Erratic and changeable tastes and interests. A very poor day for romantic activities due to fickle and unpredictable reaction from your partner.
November 4th, Neptune stations Direct. Another opportunity to move forward with our spiritual convictions and our sense of humanity. A time of compassion and forgiveness. As Neptune is said to be one of the "transpersonal" planets affecting masses of people and their ability to form intuitive insights, aren't you glad this is not an election year?
November 7th, Venus enters Scorpio. Relationships are very passionately experienced right now and they will require considerable empathy and integrity. What I said previously about jealousy and possessiveness at the beginning of this month in Scorpio is really true today - Sun, Mercury and Venus are now all in Scorpio! Honesty in relationships is of the utmost importance! Venus in Scorpio can create problems for women in the workplace often in the form of jealousy from other female coworkers. Avoid acting solely on your suspicions.
November 15th, Saturn square Pluto; Mercury enters Sagittarius. Saturn square Pluto is one of the most intense and elusive of all aspects. A determination to get one's way, come "hell or high water". Desire for power and authority; ends justifies the means; jealousy and lust added to the mix. Mercury in Sagittarius spins many tall tales and the truth becomes concealed and distorted along the way. For those who choose the higher way, this day can add much to the pursuit of self mastery and enlightenment; Mercury in Sagittarius is excellent for the study of philosophy and learning life's lessons.
Mountain Astrologer offers this analysis: "The most powerful configurations are beginning. Saturn squares Pluto at 1 degree, 42' Libra - Capricorn, while the Moon and Venus join Neptune and Pluto in a septile pattern. The Sun septiles Saturn as well. Public fears of terrorism or war are accentuated at this time. This Saturn - Pluto square repeats on January 31st, 2010 and again in August 2010. These are key dates in terms of oil shortages, oil price hikes and international cooperation (or lack thereof). The increased use of coal raises new concerns about air pollution and accelerated global warming."
November 19th, Venus Square Mars. Really bad as a rule for male - female relations. But there remains the possibility of a real breakthrough in understanding the opposite sex. Anyone feel up to the challenge?
November 21st, Sun enters Sagittarius. Attend the study group or party at the sports bar - this has always been the big decision for Sun in Sagittarius. There is a lot of strong planetary energy now and in the weeks to come and so I recommend physical activities like sports and exercise for the benefit both of the body and the soul.
December 1st, Uranus stations Direct. The 'rubber band' of social change has just been snapped free. Does anyone really want to impede this energy rush? Lead, follow or get out of the way - Uranus is on the move!
December 5th, Mercury enters Capricorn. A much-too-solemn energy for the holiday season. Anxiety and fear over material affairs and one of the reasons why I said compassion for the less fortunate is in order now. The news media has said all year that Consumers 'have been in no mood to spend'. Difficult to be 'in the mood' when there is little or nothing to be in the mood with. Plenty of talk about 'where's the leadership' - especially among the leaders.
December 7th, Jupiter conjunct Chiron; Mercury square Saturn and conjunct Pluto. I am very sorry to say that this is definitely not "Joy To The World". The air grows very somber and money and the economy will figure prominently into the world view. A great deal of focus on what needs to happen to heal the world economy. But bitter acrimony and finger pointing will be in still greater abundance. The political power struggle reaches new decibel levels. Perhaps the rest of us should request government issue ear muffs!
December 20th, Mars station Retrograde (until March 10, 2010) Actions delayed or suspended. Hopefully some sort of 'cooling off' period, allowing tempers to subside.
December 21st, Winter Solstice; Sun enters Capricorn; Moon, Jupiter, Chiron, Neptune conjunct. In years past (the early 1990's), we have had six or more planets and asteroids in Capricorn in December and January and the world survived. We will doubtless do so again. But I am still seeing gloomy outlooks and negative reactions to a deteriorating world condition. The antidote is for people to take positive personal actions. Don't wait around for government to act. Doing nothing will only encourage a worsening sense of loss and pessimism.
December 25th, Venus enters Capricorn. There can be an obsession with social status and material comforts. This is to be expected and understood when people are losing their jobs and their homes. The challenge is breaking free of the myth of scarcity. Greed and selfishness must give way to trust, openness and generosity - a valuable and timely lesson for Christmas Day, 2009.
December 26th, Mercury stations Retrograde (until January 15th, 2010). Post holiday travel could be dangerous or hampered due to inclement weather. Plan on extra travel time to reach your destination.
December 27, 28, 29, Venus conjunct Pluto and square Saturn. This could be another turn of the tide in human sympathies and it will certainly not be one to favor the authority figures. The often repeated and tired old excuses will not likely placate the masses if they are struggling to survive. Whatever the outcome, the convictions of every faction will be unwavering and resolute.
December 31st, Super Moon; Partial Lunar Eclipse. A coincidence that 2009 ends with a super moon lunar eclipse? Absolutely not! People will be taking stock of their circumstances and their prospects. If they feel that their basic security is not at stake then they may conclude that things are not really that bad. However if people feel truly threatened then we could have a very dangerous situation unfolding! Some may choose to brood (Moon in Cancer) while others just might decide to explode. Everything depends on whether the conclusion of 2009 is perceived as hopeful or terrifying! Under the circumstances, honest and humane New Years resolutions from the Powers That Be would be very much in order for all concerned.
