550 Para Cord Sling

I've been hit up alot of times about my Sling that I made from Para Cord. Well, I finally made up a little guide for you guys so now it's Airsoft Home Economics. Get your Sewing Needles out Very Happy

____________________________________

First Start by buying no less then 50ft of 550 Para-cord. If you buy a shorter Pack, you'll get screwed very fast. These Slings use ALOT depending on how long you make them, Especially with 3 Point Slings.

The Sling that I'm making here is called an "8 String Soft Sling." This is only an example, that's why it's so short, but you can make yours as long as you'd like. You'll start by Zig Zaging the Cord so you'll have 8 Strings across (You can add more Cords or Less, but the best result is 8 cords)

Now that you have the Idea, you can Lace in any type of Sling Ends. You can use anything like Keychain Rings or even another Para-Cord Loop. I'm using in the example a Sling End from an M1 Carbine. on the other End you can use the Same Keychain Ring or anything, I'm using a Screw Driver and Spreading the Cords Apart to show the Process. You won't need to Fan the Para-cord out Like I did it's only to help understand the process.

Now in this Next Picture I'm using a Different Color Para-cord just to show how the Weaving is started. Just Pretend the OD and Tan Para-cord is connected to each other around that Screw Driver. Start by inter-weaving the Para-cord Through the 8 Cords till the entire 50ft Cord is through. I'm not showing all 50ft going through, because it's just an Example, when you do it, you'll be involved with a SPIDER WEB of BS, but don't worry, the end result is worth it.

Now Inter-weave the Cord through the Opposite Direction and pull what's left of the 50ft through.

Continue to Inter-weave the Para-cord till you reach the end.

Now force the inter-lacing Para-cord back and Pull and Tug the Cord till it's tight enough but still a bit loose to work with. You'll be repeating this process each time you reach the end and Making the Weaves tighter and tighter each time. Don't worry, tighter Weaves is a good thing.

Now Continue Inter-weaving the Para-cord again till you reach the End.

Through the Process you may have noticed the second Style of the Weaved Slings. Right Between the Loop in the middle is the two types of Slings Weaves. To the right of the Loop is the Tighter Softer Sling Result. To the Left of the Loop is the more Coarse Anti-Slip Version Sling. It's up to you to decide which Version Sling you'd want. But I'll Continue with the Tighter Softer Sling for the Example.

Continue the Inter Weaving Process reaching the End and Forcing the Weaves Back and Tighter till there's no way to Force the Lacing Back. Your Starting End Should look the Same as the End Piece. My Starting End is only loose because I'm using a Screw Driver for the Example. Now cut off the End leaving yourself Atleast 5 inches of extra Para-cord laying out. and Force it Lenght-wise in and out through the Sling to Hide it inside the Weaves. NOW, At this Point, you've actually Finished. YAY for YOU!! Now you can see it was worth the frustration.

You can use this Technique for more than just Slings. Lanyards with less than 8 String. Or Making Super Fat 16 to 24 Stings for Web Gear or Anything you can think of. I've only Made them for Slings, but it's up to you to decide what to use it for.

I'll be making a few more Slings at Various Lenghts for myself and maybe for sale.

Have fun Very Happy Smile Razz
